This post was inspired by my dear blog friend,  and very gifted artist, Benjamin Prewitt.

After admiring  several of Benjamin’s gallery paintings at    Gallery | Expressions of my life – An evolution of art  for some time, I spoke to him about possibly acquiring one to own.  Benjamin graciously offered to  paint something unique, especially with me in mind, and queried me only about what color palate I might enjoy.  I gave him full creative license after that.  The above masterpiece is now complete, and on its way to my home where I will treasure it always.

I can only express my utmost appreciation for all the heart and soul that Benjamin put into this magnificent work of art, and am thrilled to share it with everyone here.  He named the  piece, “Waiting On A Spanish Moon” ~ and began the project the day my daughter left for Spain.

I encourage everyone to visit Benjamin’s blog, Expressions of my life – An evolution of art. | My journey through life as an artist, father, and person with young onset Parkinsons and read his artist’s statement at: Artists Statement-Evolution

He is a wonderful brave person, facing his own recent, and intense health challenge…
a lovely soul, and a “fellow warrior of light.”

She Spins

round – and – round she twirls

dreamer spinning fairy tales

 orbiting wonder

~~~
we came spinning
out of nothingness
scattering stars
like dust
the stars made a circle
and in the middle
we dance
the wheel of heaven
circles God
like a mill
if you grab a spoke
it will tear your hand off
turning and turning
it sunders
all attachment
were that wheel not in love
it would cry
“enough! how long this turning?”
every atom
turns bewildered
beggars circle tables
dogs circle carrion
the lover circles
his own heart
ashamed,
I circle shame
a ruined water wheel
whichever way I turn
is the river
if that rusty old sky
creaks to a stop
still, still I turn
and it is only God
circling Himself
My Mother’s Light
~
Just as the magnificent sun shines high in the sky,
my Mother’s light illuminates the heart of each
soul who is so blessed to know her smile,
her kindness, her radiance…her Love.
Happy Birthday Mom;
I Love you Always!
Robyn Lee
The Mother
~Kahlil Gibran
The most beautiful word on the lips of mankind is the word “Mother,”
and the most beautiful call is the call of “My mother.”
It is a word full of hope and love, a sweet and kind word
coming from the depths of the heart.
The mother is everything– she is our
consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery,
and our strength in weakness.
She is the source of love, mercy,
sympathy,and forgiveness….
Everything in nature bespeaks the mother.
The sun is the mother of earth and gives it its nourishment of heart;
it never leaves the universe at night until it has put the earth to sleep
to the song of the sea and the hymn of birds and brooks.
And this earth is the mother of trees and flowers.
It produces them, nurses them, and weans them.
The trees and flowers become kind mothers
of
their great fruits and seeds.
And the mother,
the prototype of all existence,
is the eternal spirit,
full of beauty and love.
Sea Within
“Facing blue waves of uncertainty,
I place my hand on my heart
to honor the sea
in me.”
Please enjoy this excerpt
from Renee Robinson’s
wonderful poem entitled:
Rainbow Of Souls
~~~
The tide washing in

The tide washing out

The current a powerful force

Living in the rhythm of the sea

Alive and breathing

She welcomes me

Standing on a cliff

Way up high

The sea beneath me

Her mist salting my tongue

Her breeze exploring my hair

Imprints in the sand

Her breath, we share

I hear her voice

In the sea air

She calls my name

I hear her heartbeat

Crashing on the rocks

I see her there

I dive in her waters

Within the splashing

Aftershock

I love the sea

I was made for her

Or maybe

She was made for me

She is the past

The present

And the future

She is history

Mystery and

Eternity

The stories she tells

The treasures hidden

All part of her destiny

Alive and breathing

Living in the rhythm of the sea

Resist Not

She concedes at last
’twas all for naught;

The knowing she craves
Cannot be sought.

Nothing to fight
Nor push against;

She lets down her guard
No resist, or defense.

When tomorrow is born
She will sense life anew;

For it’s only to Self
That she need remain true.

Remembrance

I dedicate this post tonight to my dear, beautiful friend Susan who concluded her fierce battle with Melanoma today. Susan was one of the most kind, loving and loyal souls on planet earth. I shot this photo of the sun’s descent earlier tonight at Jetty 4, Susan’s favorite beach, less than two hours before I learned of her passing.

 Susan will live on in my heart, and in the hearts of so many she has touched with her warm, generous spirit.

God Bless you Susan; you will be sorely missed. We will Love you forever Dearest Friend…

Prayer

“Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul.
It is daily admission of one’s weakness.
It is better in prayer to have a heart without words,
than words without heart.”

~ Mahatma Gandhi

Mother

In the spirit of Mother’s Day, I dedicate this post to my own wonderful Mom,
who taught me
to Love freely and see goodness
in everything around me.
