Hope & Healing Through Photography and Poetic Expression

Resist Not

She concedes at last
’twas all for naught;

The knowing she craves
Cannot be sought.

Nothing to fight
Nor push against;

She lets down her guard
No resist, or defense.

When tomorrow is born
She will sense life anew;

For it’s only to Self
That she need remain true.

  3. Thanks Julie and Buck… something I work on all the time…. my model did not know I took this photo, but permitted me to post it after the fact πŸ™‚ Glad you both enjoyed!!

    This…yet again…knowing a smidge of where you are at this week, is so symbolically rich it gives me chills, sadness, pain, resolve, power…all in one. Just remarkable. Both. Really really heart touching. Xo

    • Thank you Lady Day! Actually had this post ready earlier on, but did feel it could speak to where I am this week ~ so embraced it now. Appreciate so much your insightful comment! There is a lot going on here (image) for me… So glad you felt it too ~ RL

  5. Excellent Robyn- The depth and feeling amazing. The Photography.. as always fantastic.
    Always wonderful of you to share your truly inspirational and thought-provoking work.

    June 22, 2012 at 12:01 AM

    • Cynthia, truly appreciate that. Was a very spontaneous shot – but brought up a lot for me (as usual) ~ and thus my post. Very pleased you enjoyed it!!

      June 22, 2012 at 12:06 AM

  6. Very amazing photo. The whole concept, with the woman touching the water, the sign, the angle, just everything is so powerful. Excellent. You do have a gift for this. How did you think of this shot? For me it speaks so much. First thoughts were how there is no dead end, that there is the ocean, and man cannot sea beyond his limited perception to see the vast sea after death. Artistically I’m thinking another cd cover. Just love this Sea Sister. Awesomeness!!! πŸ™‚ Sam

    June 22, 2012 at 12:36 AM

    • Thanks so much Sister Sam! I love your interpretation – as I could not get past the ‘Dead End’ and her concession to surrender at last πŸ˜‰ . But in light of my week ~ and loosing a friend – I think your vision of what exists beyond our mortal perception is phenomenal. Love the awesome and expansive ideas that surface from some of these posts…

      Ok – the shot… do I tell? Ummmm… well my 19 year old daughter and I decided to ride down the block one afternoon, just to test me out in the cycling sport. When we got down to the bay she parked the bike, and assumed this pose (to rest) – and well… i happened to have my small camera quite handy — then was the negotiation as to whether I could post it!! The poem came to me in a matter of minutes as have self-explored the concept of resistance many a time in my inner-work.

      Think I’m going to start a CD cover business soon Sam – & you will be my agent πŸ™‚ Thank your dear one — I so appreciate your insight and encouragement !! Sending waves of sea-hugs to you ~ RL

      • πŸ™‚ Thanks for explaining how the photo came to be! Lovely photo. I’m glad you talked her into it. Awesome shot, truly. πŸ™‚ Hugs.

  7. artistically blazing hot work Robyn! I think I remember mentioning something about…ya don’t need a great camera or years of training to take an amazing photo…if, you shoot it from the heart. I do believe you did it…again! lolol…always a pleasure and a treat so visit your amazing blog and work Robyn! Oh, and the model is gorgeous (like her mom)..and, could not have been posed any better for the shot. Kudos to both of you!

    • Oh Stan – the highest compliment from you – thank you. Have not brought myself to go further than my Canon S100 point & shoot with the technology so thrilled you think the quality photographically is still quite good. Also happy you are enjoying my creative endeavors here. As for the ‘model’ – yes she’s extremely gorgeous, though very modest by nature — if she were the modeling type I’d say she should have you do her portfolio (though so far she’s planning to pursue career in medicine). Lucky I caught her off guard in this candid shot, to capture the very relaxed ambiance she exudes here πŸ™‚ So glad you enjoyed the post Stan — always a pleasure to hear from you!! ~ RL

  11. Photo-concept at its finest, love it. This is staged, yes?

    June 22, 2012 at 6:18 AM

    • Hey Bob – thanks so much for your wonderful comment today! No, actually unplanned. Just a short bike ride down the road with my daughter who decided to rest for a few when we got to the bay. I was lucky to have my I phone 4S handy!! And, thus, a post was born πŸ™‚ So glad you enjoyed it!!

      June 22, 2012 at 11:43 AM

      • Hi Robyn: Unplanned? iPhone? Love it more then. Truly amazing.

        June 22, 2012 at 11:51 AM

    • Thrilled you feel this way. Always a bit insecure that I haven’t gone into the big camera world, but truly prefer spontaneous ease in my work for many reasons. This was a lot of fun, and so glad she allowed me to use it as an artistic project here. So appreciate your thoughtful input today~ Sending you wishes for a lovely weekend Bob!:) ~RL

  12. Powerful image and words Robyn…at first I thought it was you…surrender there’s so much relief in it and in this post…great work!

    June 22, 2012 at 7:44 AM

    • Thanks Meryl, no not me ~ though some think she resembles young me a lot…. BTW, under my header Pain Shadow Series – there is a somewhat dramatic shot of me that she took in this setting the same day, but has a different feel to it – and used it as illustration for that ‘page’ with a Kibran quote on pain.

      Yes – surrender and relief…such a blessing and I ‘m glad you got that feeling from this post. So appreciate your input xo

    June 22, 2012 at 8:48 AM

    • Thanks so much!! Wise words David, and sometimes I think we can be easily swayed ~ programmed belief systems, external influences, expectations, guilt, shame, and all that jazz, but usually if we get beneath all that, and tap into our higher self, it’s a good feeling and we move in the right direction in life. Always the work!
      I’m doing ok today – thank you!! Hope you are well too David ~ sending you good thoughts for a wonderful weekend~RL

    Great post Robyn, I’m loving the last two lines. It seems as though you’re a dab hand at poetry as well as photography, thanks for sharing.

    June 24, 2012 at 6:58 AM

    • So glad you liked it Chris… thank you kindly my friend. Ahhh a ‘dab hand’ ~ needed to google that one πŸ™‚ You are so sweet. Have always liked poetry but no formal experience…. having lots of fun with it though – and seems to flow easily at times…especially when the photography inspires as this one did. Yes — stay true to self and you cannot go wrong. Sending love and light your way today Chris ~Robyn L
