Hope & Healing Through Photography and Poetic Expression

Shadow Lover

Take me to the green in you

The secret valley beneath the sun

Hidden behind the whispering ghosts

Of whom you pretend to be

Open up your mossy arms

So I may open mine

And wrap all limbs round your spirit wide

To exist as half no more

Bring me to your mossy floor

Beneath the shadows of your fear

A raven bride in white

A ladder to your soul

Fold down your branches

Peel open your chocolate bark

So I may pour

As liquid amber

Through your very veins

I am thrilled to share this collaborative project with you today. Special thanks to Sam of of  Everyday Asperger’s, who penned this stunning piece entitled The Raven Bride in White at the most perfect time to accompany my beloved shadow image.

Hope you enjoyed!

Much Love ~ Robyn Lee

  1. Incredibly done! So much can be drawn from the image alone, and the Raven Bride in White does so wonderfully set the mind and imagination in flight. Your image drawn on the sands of time, the sea of love, the ocean of dreams, and so very many more. But still they pale to what you have truly captured here….in the shadow..of your smile. Wonderful work yet again Robyn!

    • Thank you so much Stan!! I’m just a ridiculous romantic, so this image really made me happy (and yes smile)… I like fairytales a lot and it had a little bit of that flavor for me… Love your metaphors ‘ocean of dreams’ favorite I think!! Yes – Sam’s poem was posted right after I shot this and I just could not stop thinking about it, so asked her if we could collaborate. Was thrilled with the pairing, and yes, sent my own imagination into flight!! Something different for the Shadow Series too. So happy you enjoyed Stan — you always have fantastic input and I appreciate wholeheartedly! Sending Love and Light 🙂 RL

  2. Oh….sigh…. What a stunning photograph…You are right; the image you have captured matches the heart of my words very well. So romantic and loving. The shadows are perfect, and how they are in the ocean water. What a fantastic idea. You sure are creative. This is dreamy. They look like they could be atop a wedding cake. Well done. And thank you for the honor to be on your wonderful blog. So glad we met. Your sea sister. Huge hugs, Sam 🙂

    • So glad you liked the pairing Sam! I believe this was the first poem I really “fell for” on your blog– and just had to see it next to this image. Just so happened I had a long flowing skirt on this Sunday on the beach, so when I saw the shadow image reflected in the ocean it did remind me of a “gown” – and then seeing your Raven Bride poem — well – had to have it !!! 🙂 🙂 Thanks so much again for writing and permitting my reposting here. Yes – a blessing we have connected as blog friends and sea-sisters!! Gratitude and much Love ~ RL

  13. Terrific Robyn, trying to figure out how you placed the camera…love the flow and so romantic…chocolate bark…I feel the love…

    June 24, 2012 at 8:36 AM

    • Thanks Meryl… yes very romantic and awesome to find Sam’s poem when I did!! was a tricky shot as had to camouflage my arm which was upraised and holding the tiny iPhone 4S camera. Luckily my “lover” was tall so could blend within the shadow of his body 🙂 The advantages of that tiny camera ~ yes? Fun shot and was done on exact day we were wed 25 years ago ~ so extra special 🙂 ~RL

      • ~Lady Day

http://hazelaid.com/C_Home.html ….they sell ‘teething’ necklaces …but many people here (all my real life friends) wear them for a huge combination of things…skin problems, eczema psoriasis..I like these because they have really lovely stones too…they sell them in the stores here…but Canadians are weird like that:) Your body heat releases it through your skin…lol. Some people think it’s ‘quakery’ …I guess I’m a duck..lol and…my youngest daughter stopped ALL teething symptoms within a half an hour of wearing them, my son, well, maybe he needs a new one…the hazelwood needs to be replaced, about every 4-6months, the amber does not. Hugs Sam:)

        June 24, 2012 at 12:13 PM

    June 26, 2012 at 12:14 AM

  24. Nikunj

    You sow the enigmatic seeds
in the poetic skin of time …
You steal the show of metaphors
with the clink of your chime …

    You bind the mind
    You enslave the soul …
You are a magician of verses..

    August 4, 2012 at 12:04 AM

    • Ahhh – this one was not my poem dear one… It was my photograph paired with Sam’s poem (notation at the bottom) … but you are oh so kind, and I am doubly impressed with your poetically wonderful comments … and suspect the magician is you 🙂

      August 4, 2012 at 12:07 AM

      • Nikunj

Maybe your photo did the metaphoric trick then ….:) . Is there an alternate email ID that you can be reached on ? …

        August 4, 2012 at 12:08 AM

      • Thank you Nikunj. Glad you liked. I have policy not to communicate off-blog unless emergency for many reasons. Why do you ask?

        August 4, 2012 at 12:12 AM

      • Nikunj

It’s okay . No particular reason beyond the inquisitive element in my mind …keep the ink flowing and keep the magnetic metaphors coming …

        🙂

        August 4, 2012 at 12:15 AM

      • Yes -Writing in a poetic way is very new for me. I was intending to use the blog mostly for photo display – so nice to know you appreciate ~ 🙂 Thank you!
