Hope & Healing Through Photography and Poetic Expression

My Mother’s Light

Just as the magnificent sun shines high in the sky,
my Mother’s light illuminates the heart of each
soul who is so blessed to know her smile,
her kindness, her radiance…her Love.
Happy Birthday Mom;
I Love you Always!
Robyn Lee

The Mother
~Kahlil Gibran

The most beautiful word on the lips of mankind is the word “Mother,”
and the most beautiful call is the call of “My mother.”
It is a word full of hope and love, a sweet and kind word
coming from the depths of the heart.
The mother is everything– she is our
consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery,
and our strength in weakness.
She is the source of love, mercy,
sympathy,and forgiveness….

Everything in nature bespeaks the mother.
The sun is the mother of earth and gives it its nourishment of heart;
it never leaves the universe at night until it has put the earth to sleep
to the song of the sea and the hymn of birds and brooks.
And this earth is the mother of trees and flowers.
It produces them, nurses them, and weans them.
The trees and flowers become kind mothers
their great fruits and seeds.
And the mother,
the prototype of all existence,
is the eternal spirit,
full of beauty and love.

I love it…

    • Thank you bulldog! I love this expression “Mum” ~ will have to try it out on her 🙂 YES — know she will be ecstatic when she discovers this surprise today. She loves reading my blog ~ never comments but reads every single day and is completely in awe of all my wonderful followers (does her own following too btw)… I am so glad you think the photo worthy of a special Birthday post too… it did have all the elements – like Mom does. I could not resist adding Gibran’s poem here … sums up exactly how I feel about the spirit of motherhood both on a personal level and also spiritually as it relates to the natural world. Oh this photo — yes a few years ago as a special and happy event… we’ve always had a very close bond … so glad you enjoyed this! Much Love to you bd! ~R

    Thank you so much for this post and for sharing the love you and your Mum have for each other. With love to you both 🙂

    October 13, 2012 at 12:27 PM

    • Robyn Lee

      Thank you dear Julie ~ yes I especially liked the 2nd stanza in Gibran’s poem because it spoke eloquently of the “mother energy” in nature… and this is what I think is that universal maternal love and light that can nourish even in the absence of the physical mother figure…. I am very happy you were able to feel that too dear friend ~ xxoo

      October 13, 2012 at 1:22 PM

  34. Chills, here. Beautiful and so very kind. Her spirit is refleted in the effort and beauty you have displayed. And I love Gibran. 🙂 xo
