It seems so real, like I’m there in your captured sight. These things do inspire me, I can instantly connect to happiness. Stunning, Robyn.

    August 6, 2012 at 11:37 PM

    • Pawan – thank you so much for saying — I feel similar to you … like we can almost pick up, and feel a few grains of sand, or the feather itself right from the computer screen 🙂 Maybe it’s because I was flat on my belly for this shot that I got so much texture in the sand 🙂 It is nice to be able to return to images like this for a lift. Grateful I was able to capture it for you and others to enjoy here… Sending love and gratitude my friend …

  5. Stunning ..what a beauty…that image is happiness and warmth
close up of sand looks like a platter of slightly crushed peppercorns and sea salt ..all ready to add flavours to ones life
loved the poem Robyn…i wish i could pack flavours in a small poems like you do.
    big hugs 🙂

    August 6, 2012 at 11:57 PM

    • Oh yes Soma — I see the platter of sea salt and peppercorns (slightly crushed) now 🙂 Thank you so much… I love your interpretation re: adding flavors to ones life. It is true when you think about all the colors/textures/scents/tastes etc. nature so generously serves us every day ~ and then it’s up to us to choose which appeal, and suit us best. I’m so glad you enjoyed — yes – this was an attempt at haiku type work and that is really tough for me to stay within the parameters or such a short verse with restricted syllables LOL!! I’m not one for boundaries – although this felt right for the image ~ Much Love dear one xo R

  7. Stunning seems to be the word of the day…..and I would have to agree. Looks like sugar crystals to me. What an eye you have to capture beauty. Your heart shines through this one…your gentleness and shining crystal soul. Love button. So happy to see this. Can almost feel the sand and hear the ocean. Much love, Sam

    August 7, 2012 at 12:36 AM

    • Sugar crystals… now I have to go stare again — just agreed with Soma it was sea salt and ground pepper 🙂 … ok – looked — could be “sugar in the raw” (love that product) !! Thanks so much for your loving comment today Sam. I did feel connected to this image — -maybe because I was covered in sand as was sprawled out belly-down to take this shot (no towel with me that day) 😉 Sending hugs to you Sister of Sea ~ R

      August 7, 2012 at 11:47 AM

  10. I am blown away by this photo.. the composition, clarity, focus and that curvature, absolutely marvelous… don’t know how you do it… how you picture this in your mind before you take the photo…. a true artist… and I can say I followed you, when you become famous…

    August 7, 2012 at 1:39 AM

    • Thank you so much bulldog — you are way too kind! I’m in awe that you ‘photographer extaordinaire’ could bestow upon my image such glorious praise!!!! Does it really have all those cool qualities (composition, clarity, focus and curvature)? I’m such a novice that I’m amazed when I get compliments like this from the pros. It is more of an art to me — as opposed to ‘technical skill’ — and I am so thrilled you can appreciate that. Not sure ‘famous’ will ever be me — but love your vision nevertheless. You are too sweet and lovable. Hugs ~~ xxoo

      August 7, 2012 at 11:59 AM

      • You complement me too highly.. a mere amateur with a aim and shoot attitude and then a surprise when I down load, if its a good one… your photo shows all the qualities I would love to capture… true beauty…

  15. victoriaaphotography

    Beautiful image.
    Interesting symbolism.
(I looked up the symbolism when I started photographing Dragonflies and found it really interesting how the meaning of the insect fitted in to where I was in my life at that time)

    August 7, 2012 at 5:57 AM

    • Thank you so much Victoria. Yes – so interesting to research the symbolism of these various elements of nature that we often just take for granted. I really enjoy learning about the cultural significance and symbolism… now you have me wanting to research Dragonflies – but I don’t’ have a cool image of one – yours are amazing!! 🙂 ~ xo much love V~ R

    • Oh Jason, so appreciate your loving comment here ~ Sending Lightness …ps: your new gravitar image is precious as can be 🙂 x

      August 7, 2012 at 3:13 PM

  19. Stunning. What a powerful image and words. I have always loved feathers. The image looks like something sacred, gone through the rites of each of the elements, earth, rock, air, fire, water is now cleansed and blessed. It “stands”. That is what I see in the photo, Love Linda

    August 7, 2012 at 1:51 PM

    • Oh Linda – you and I do see things in a similar light — I thought the same – this feather has obviously been through lots of ‘twists and turns’ – it has markings and characteristic that tell us that… and It is damp, and cleansed — and thus blessed by the sea… I love your interpretation that it “stands” Yours is such an uplifting and heartfelt comment today ~ I thank you so very much ~ Love, R

      August 7, 2012 at 4:00 PM

  21. Cleverly written, it keeps ones attention to the very end, and what comes to mind during the reading who knows as it will be different for everyone. But Robyn you have so mastered the skill…where your poem though written about a tub also lends a silent lead from your heart that is there for the spirit of the creator who does all of the above daily and your writing reflects the light of his love in your light! A lot of times almost all of my poems if you change a word they become romantic for my wife, or change a romantic one slightly leaving it romantic and placing god’s name there so at the end one may see who i wrote about. God and love are always bound together…you can see him there in your poem and He also can be (a tub) for washes us a makes us clean…and water symbolizes His spirit also! I love the way you write…thanks for sharing your heart’s speech!

    August 7, 2012 at 4:43 PM

    • Oh Wedell, thank you so much for this lovely heartfelt comment. Somehow it landed here on the “Feather” post, but I know it was meant to be left on the last post I made entitled: “The One”. So interesting how Love and God and a Bathtub can all be very much connected. I liked your interpretation — and the symbolism related to water. So appreciate your support and encouragement re: my writing. Have not done creative work like this since college days (27+ years ago) … enjoying it! Love and Gratitude ~Robyn

      August 7, 2012 at 5:38 PM

  22. I have always liked the symbolism of feathers and did go to the writing on them. The photo is so close, love the sand crystals and feather. Actually doing some work on “Hope”now so this is special to me on many levels. Thanks Robyn for sharing your unique view on the world.

    August 7, 2012 at 7:28 PM

    • Thanks Jane. I just really became educated in the realm of feather symbolism 🙂 So interesting what blogging can inspire. I like feathers though – always have. Glad you enjoyed the image – and also the meditation haiku on hope. Always so great to hear from you ~ and really loved your post today featuring the dancing with feather gear 🙂 Much Love ~

  23. Nice Photo Miss Robyn…and btw…your profile pic with the curls is making you look more and more like Shirley Temple.

    August 7, 2012 at 8:30 PM

    • Thanks Mr. Jeb 🙂 Glad you enjoyed the post ~ and yes, this is my real hair — especially in the summer — major Shirley effect LOL!! 😉

      August 7, 2012 at 9:21 PM

  24. Hi Robyn, well you already know your photograph is beautiful and brilliant (i.e. previous comments) So I’ll just say I agree with them, I really found the section about cultural symbolism regarding the feather fascinating and I acquired some new knowledge there. My dad was always convinced that our ancestors were druids (Nope don’t know why, except that in each of the various family generations, there’s always a member of the family who seems to have extra insights into people and life, I dunno. Anyway he was convinced of a Druid heritage) as I said I did enjoy the extra info it added to what was already an outstanding piece of artistic expression by it’s creator ! 🙂 Tons of hugs and warm thoughts, Penny

    August 7, 2012 at 10:01 PM

    • Well Penny- this makes lots of sense to me – if your ancestors were druids –may explain your keen insights and wisdom. I am so glad you enjoyed both the post and the piece on symbolism. I thought it might be enriching after savoring the image of the spirt feather too… Tons of hugs right back to you dear friend — so appreciate your warm thoughts tonight ~ much LOVE ~ R

    Held within that seeded hope
a sand grain awaits the rainbows
    when embraced shall become
    the embrace itself …
    An echo shall become
    a million songs when
    karma springs from the recesses
    of a atrophied day ….

    August 7, 2012 at 11:10 PM

    • Thank you Sir Nikunj~ such a lovely adjunct to my post… I like the image of the grain of sand awaiting rainbows for embrace, and then to manifest into the embrace itself — beautiful. Appreciate your gift of words here ~ always a treat! Blessings your way friend, RL

      August 8, 2012 at 12:11 AM

Whenever a sweet lady calls me sir , I feel like a fossil living in modern daylight … But when she calls be Niks , I fell like an unborn star.

        August 8, 2012 at 11:59 AM

  26. I am going to find out tomorrow if it’s legal to post feathers overseas because I would love to give you some. Are you okay, Robyn? I am in tears writing this because I get so worried about you my beautiful blog friend.

    August 8, 2012 at 10:52 AM

    • Oh Julie — don’t’ want you shedding tears for me. In a rough spot here — progressive decline and no consensus on what to do. Every dr. i see has a different suggestion 😦 Fear surgical interventions since it all seems to add to my decline, and everyone seems to be guessing . Lots of stress all around. Going to start with more studies to see what the joint and soft tissue look like now (a year since last MRI, 1.5+ years since surgery) … Feathers from Australia — sounds lovely but not sure if legal ~~ you are a love – and appreciate your warm thoughts and prayers– do not worry – I will find a way out, and want you to focus on taking care of YOU xo

      August 8, 2012 at 11:33 AM

      • I am fine – really fine – getting much better in my headspace. But I feel quite sick thinking of what you are going through, Robyn. I don’t understand how it can be 2012 and medical science can do so much and yet you are still in this situation of pain – argh – you are such a hero. It seems to me, from what you have said before, that you have a lovely, supportive family – your husband, your ma and your kids but oh god it is still you alone who suffers. Sending you a massive amount of love and now that I have begun to be more prayerful lots of that too – Juliexxx

  27. Lovely Robyn, has the same feeling as the shell still life you took some time back. Has a wonderful ethereal feeling and otherworldly-ness…..

    August 8, 2012 at 2:55 PM

    • Thanks Meryl – yes – I thought the same when reviewing the image — shells and feathers….need more subjects to pose for this series now! In the winter I did a pine cone post entitled: Potential – https://throughthehealinglens.com/2012/02/28/potential/ with a similar quality… So glad you enjoyed ~ and hope you liked the haiku message as well ~ xxoo

  30. Just a lovely tribute to the spiritual…..I did not know all those wonderful facts about feathers, it was fascinating to read and learn about it. I love learning new things, especially those that have deep meaning and lasting value. I always get some of that when I visit your world, Robyn, always leave with something you have crafted into a thing of beauty and love…..the photo is amazing and would be something lovely to hang up on my wall, or in a sun room. Excellent job, my friend, I thank you for the blessing today……
your friend always and with much love….

  31. I so love this picture, did you use a fish eye lense? I’m tickled whenever i pass a feather, for I am reminded I’m being surrounded by angels

    August 9, 2012 at 3:40 PM

    • Thank you so much Shantelle! I used a wide angle lens actually ~ but I think the way I positioned the camera got me some additional curvature ~ Love your sentiments ….”surrounded by angels”~ just beautiful!!! 🙂
