Hope & Healing Through Photography and Poetic Expression

The Finale

The time has
Come.

She
Composes
Herself

After a long
Gratifying
Day,

Slowly
Spiraling
Down

to
Commence

The Grand
Finale

of

Yet
Another

Stellar
Performance.

~

He
Waits

Beneath
the
Dimly
Lit

Golden
Sky

Anticipating
Her

Glorious
Descent,

Longing
For

The
Moment

He’s
Envisioned

All
Day.

~

The
Moment

She gracefully
Dips into
His

Fluid
Embrace;

~

The
Moment

She
Glides

Atop
the
Moist
Ripples

of
His

Unyielding
Crests;

~

The
Moment

He
Sizzles,

Feeling
the

Impassioned
Electric
Charge

of

Her
Heart’s
Fiery rays;

~

And

The
Moment

She Sets

Herself
Down
Tenderly

Over
His

Strong
Exhilarated
Body.

~
But
~

He
Reminds
Himself that

This
Ecstatic
Moment

Will be
Brief,

 And then
Without warning

She will
Mysteriously
Vanish;

Fading

Into
Pure
Nothingness,

Disappearing

Below
Dusk’s
Horizon,

 Beyond the
Sheer
Curtain

of

Night’s
Darkness,

Leaving behind
Only

Her

Faint
Glow

Warm
Mist

Radiant
Memory.

 ~

And he will
Harbor

This
Memory

Deep

Within
His
Core,

Breathing

Her
Luminous
Energy

In
and
Out

All
Night long

~

Secure
In the
Knowing

That with
Tomorrow’s
Dawn

~

She will

Shine

Upon
Him

Once More.

  4. Speechless. I see what you meant. The photo is excellent, the image striking, but Robyn, oh my the poetry. I do understand now. Whew. Just so very good. I could use a whole bunch of clever words regarding your sensual play on words and the sun setting, but it’s there for all to view and appreciate, and then appreciate some more. So very well done. Big smile here! Such a gift is yours. 🙂 penny

    • Awe Penny – thank you so much. You are always so generous with your loving words. Yes — guess this has a lot of different layers — and was a whole weekend project under some physical ‘duress’ — 🙂 — but I was brave, as you know I hesitated posting it. So glad you enjoyed it and brought your some smiles~ Much Love dear friend xo

    • Oh thank you dear Julie ~ so many layers here, but YES — peace and contentment in the “knowing”. So happy you enjoyed the combination … Today I begin your book ~~ totally psyched!! I see one of my favorite “chocolate” poems is in it – YAY!! xxoo 🙂

  7. And once again, she brings us to a slow boil….such a moving and passionate poem Robyn. the image …such a wonderful illusion and clever device! No one can teach, what your heart already knows Robyn, u go girl! Your talent is truly stunning! thank you so much for sharing your delightful gift with us.

    August 25, 2012 at 1:20 AM

    • Stan – I think you do have a ‘way with words’ (“brings us to a boil”) and am going to give you some assignments to write poetry for your magnificent photos!! THRILLED you enjoyed this. Just an unplanned weekend project last week. Was an older photo that I’d not even planned to use — and then reconsidered after really liking the sepia tones over it. Then the words just release themselves from G-d knows where, but thank you sooo much for your wonderful comment~R xo

      August 25, 2012 at 8:42 AM

  8. Sooooo speechless…fantastically stunning photo and the words…my oh my….such vivid imagery! Provocative, sensual….sublimely seductive!!! Magnificently stupendous. This is just incredible….wow just incredible!!! You are the master-poetess dearest friend!!! 😀 Sending so so much love ♥♥♥♥ !!!

    August 25, 2012 at 2:01 AM

    • Oh Christina — now I’m speechless! Thank you! Was just saying to Stan, this was so random — sunset photo is from last season ~ and was not even planning to post it — then in some moments of physical distress last weekend kneeling for the day (due to the pain) — I got a little carried away with my creative self, and penned the poem.- I did not thinkI was brave enough to post (with all the metaphors etc)… but my good friend Penny 😉 – gave me some courage, so here it is. Really so many layers to this, nature, life, love, passion and hope — Lots of fun to write, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it dear one ~ Much Love to you, R x

      August 25, 2012 at 8:49 AM

      • I’m glad I could make you speechless for once :p And so very very glad you had the courage to post….really so fantastically incredible!!! I LOVE all the layers…the different insights into this one. A total and complete work of true art and emotion….both in photo and words!! I hope this gives you the courage next time to post without hesitatation…though I am VERY familar with hesitation and posting lol :p I’m so sorry what brought this out was pain….I have been marveling at the fact that the deepest emotionss – pain (physical or emotional or both), tragedy, or other not so plesant emotions make for such moving and beautiful art forms. Singers come to mind because they are publized so much….most of the greats were so great for their struggles in life…sadly in most cases it is what ended their life as well. Just an interesting look at what brings out the genius of art in it’s varied forms.

I am so prayerful for you dearest friend that you are able to find something to aid in your relief. You already have the number one attribute – a positive attitude!!! And you are so very generous sharing it with so many and inspiring others to help deal with their pain (physical, emotional, or both) in such beautiful ways. I’ve said it before and will say it again….bear with me :p…..but you do shine so very bright and it illuminates us all! Sending so so much love ♥♥♥♥ !!!

        August 25, 2012 at 7:32 PM

    • Yes – Christina I have too thought about this — and wonder if I’d be writing at all if it were not for the pain eliciting all kinds of emotion and passion.
Thank you so much for all your loving support Christina – I always appreciate and hold you dear in my heart for complete healing in every way.
      xxxooo Much Love ~

      August 27, 2012 at 1:49 PM

      • I wish the same for you dearest friend…complete healing!! Sending so so much love and healing energy to you ♥♥♥♥ !!!

  9. My new favorite. Goddess-like. I consider myself the sun, my muse the ocean….and this just made my whole insides melt and tremble. Huge sigh.Your poem captures the agony of passion and the reason to live. Just love it so very much. I’m going to reread. And the photo….breath taking. You keep topping yourself. But this one, will always be in my heart…..so sublime and filled with passion. Bravo, Sea Sis. 🙂

      August 25, 2012 at 2:13 AM

      • Thank you again Sea Sis … and one day we will hang at the beach to witness one of these Divine encounters together!! xxoo

        August 25, 2012 at 9:01 AM

    • Really Sam?? — the muse … re: all your passionate work is the majestic ocean? And you Goddess of Sun?? How absolutely lovely to know this….and as usual ~ so much can relate though I think it was a subconscious thing for me till my epiphany last weekend when this poured out of me unexpectedly. Then I had to go show my husband to make sure I wasn’t seemingly going off the deep-end 😉 You are so on target when you say, “agony of passion and the reason to live” — It really is a conglomeration of emotion this simple yet complex setting of the sun, isn’t it? So glad you loved it ~ and new favorite!! 🙂 xo Much Love Always ~R

      August 25, 2012 at 9:00 AM

  10. You have given human forms to elements of nature perhaps..both connected by love.. the thought is lovely and the photo is fabulous

    August 25, 2012 at 2:30 AM

    • So wonderful to hear his nightlake. Yes – you have it all exactly as intended ~ nature, love, life, passion, hope — all entwined in the magic of a sunset. Thank you so much!!

      August 25, 2012 at 9:03 AM

  11. Your words are scaring me a bit. I have been without internet for over a day so only just saw this. Are you ok Robyn?

    August 25, 2012 at 3:15 AM

    • Oh Julie ~ no concern needed. This was simply a project last weekend…. could not be at the ‘real beach’ and in very severe levels of pain so got on my knees (not able to sit at all) and found an old photo I’d not used — and then God knows where this poem flowed from – but considered it a lovely distraction ~ and decided to post a week later after conjuring up the courage. Really it’s about nature, love, life, passion, pain and hope…. You are so dear to worry — I’m keeping my spirit nurtured– and actually made a little headway last night with a new method to get my femur in socket better to reduce pain… now to figure out how to make it hold!! Love you for caring xxoo

      August 25, 2012 at 9:09 AM

  12. Oh my gosh…. what to say of the photo… speechless… what a fantastic capture… and it will never happen again… something similar maybe but never exactly the same… As for the words we are heavenly blessed, because we have Robyn to continually sprout such words of poetry, such enjoyment for our eyes and minds… you are truly blessed with the gift given by God…

    August 25, 2012 at 3:18 AM

    • Really bulldog? So excited you liked this. You are so right -never the same sunset capture again — always new and different. I actually took this last season ~ forgot about it, and when needed distraction last weekend pulled it up on the screen and began to play 🙂 Was a great project for me when I really wanted to be on that beach…. gave me a sense of exhilaration that, at least emotionally, distracted me from the pain. So thrilled you enjoyed it dearest friend ~ means a lot, and Thank you for your loving encouragement always 🙂 x

  19. Chris

Holy sh*t Robyn, this is absolutely stunning, who knew that writing a poem about the sun setting could sound so beautiful, yet somewhat sensual at the same time, you really have got a beautiful imagination and the photo is just incredible, your amazing, really.x

    August 25, 2012 at 6:52 AM

    • LOL! Chris you’ve got me laughing with your ‘Holy sh*t” expression here 🙂 Feel like I know you for 20 years and you are my cousin or something!! How cool is that? Soooo happy you liked this. Just so you know – an exercise in pain management…. I could not go to the beach – and could not ‘sit in a chair’ so got on my knees and wrote this last weekend using a sunset photo from winter! Did not take the pain away – but sure as hell was a nice diversion from thinking about it while I participated in this interlude of love, nature, emotion and hope 🙂 If we ever get past this challenge we can write a book on how to cope with the hell of it 🙂 Thank you so much for your loving encouragement always friend – and hope you are hanging in today!!! xo

      August 25, 2012 at 9:39 AM

      • Chris

Ha ha, I’m glad I managed to get you laughing, we need to get some humour in our lives at every opportunity, particularly in situations like ours, it takes our minds off things even if it’s just for a brief moment. Definitely feel like I have known you for a long time which I agree is really cool. That’s an idea to go onto your knees I may have to give that a go as sitting down really isn’t good for me, I find myself regularly going for a lie down to take the pressure off my lower body, my right leg is now worse than ever, really frustrating. Ha ha, Yes, that’s what we should do, write a book on how to cope with the hell of living with this pain, great idea Robyn. Anyway you are so very welcome, you take care of yourself.x

        August 25, 2012 at 2:11 PM

  20. Beautiful, Robyn….love the golden image and again you’ve rendered the same subject yet in a new way… And the words are so seductive and sublime…great work!

    August 25, 2012 at 7:02 AM

    • Thank you Meryl! Yes – this was actually a winter sunset ~ resurrected it when I was stuck home last weekend on my knees — and really liked playing with the gold tones — and then the poem became a fun excursion too. So glad you enjoyed ~ Lots of layers here xo

      August 25, 2012 at 9:43 AM

  21. victoriaaphotography

    Superb photo, Robyn.
But the words……I’m not so sure……
    (bit too heavy for me)

    August 25, 2012 at 7:09 AM

    • Thanks so much Victoria — this was an older photo that I pulled up last weekend – was from winter (when I first started taking photos). I really liked the gold tones. The words — well – really just about nature, love, life, pain and hope…. Was a good pain-management/distraction project for me last weekend. Wrote kneeling on my knees, as sitting has been intolerable 🙂 Much Love dear one ~ R

      August 25, 2012 at 9:45 AM

  22. Beautiful Robyn. Absolutely takes my breath away.

    August 25, 2012 at 8:14 AM

    • So glad you liked it so much Jeannie ~ was a sunset from winter that I resurrected and was inspired to write about after giving it the gold tones…. Thank you so much dear friend, and hope all is well by you!! xo ~R

      August 25, 2012 at 9:47 AM

  23. Ok, i was on the edge of my seat almost salivating at what words would come next lol…very vivid imagery, sensual, almost dance like fluidity to this Robyn, and the photo is like the crown on the whole majesty of this post. I really really (can i say really again) like this. Well done!!! Stunningly beautiful

    August 25, 2012 at 8:55 AM

    • Really boomie? You are too kind… I am sooo thrilled to know this kept your attention though:) For me a ‘longish” piece…. but just could not manage to ‘stop’ short anywhere. Yes – this photo – which is actually from winter — really caught me off guard when I applied the golden tone to it. Beautiful in color too…but the sepia effect is what inspired the writing… just took me there. So happy you were so taken by it. Means a lot to know ~ Have a joyful weekend friend!! ~R

      August 25, 2012 at 9:51 AM

  24. Your exquisite poem, born of pain, reaches into the realm of the numinous. The photo brings rapture. I love the layers you’ve woven into this piece. I exceeds the bounds of words and becomes its own light! Brava, Robyn!

A scene of nature beautifully composed, yet at the same time so deliciously metaphorical. Very very nice.

  43. Hello, hello my dear friend! Wow! How I’ve missed your powerful words and though-evoking photographs. What a sensual portrayal of the sun’s sinking, the sea’s swallowing and the longing for a daily repeat performance. “Leaving behind ony her faint glow, warm mist, radiant memory.” You have truly transformed this sunset into a climatic finale, the waves of its last yearning left in ripples upon our minds. I also love the visual in the photo of the sun’s sinking almost literally ripping the scene apart in half. Beautiful Robyn! (p.s — hope you are doing well!) Now I’ve gotta get caught up on all the other posts I’ve missed 😉

    August 27, 2012 at 12:40 PM

    • Oh KT — so happy to have your little gravitar of flowers greet me today!! Have missed you ~ hope all is well by you. I’m so happy to know you enjoyed this little adventure I took with my sunset image. It was quite the journey. It’s an older shot (winter) and I’d not planned to use it but became engrossed once I saw it in gold tones…and then the poem just had to be written. As usual I love the way you have interpreted it – and you are definitely a poetess in waiting my friend. Thank you for your warm thoughts my way today — more explorations and trying to remain hopeful always. Much Love ~R

  44. This felt drenching with warm soothing liquid. It felt oh, so good. That is the only way I can describe what I felt while reading this. Wonderful and love that image!

    August 27, 2012 at 8:22 PM

    • Aww thank you so much Angel… so funny you used the word “drenching” — used ‘drenched’ in my new post that was not up yet when you wrote this — we must be in sync today!! So thrilled this made you feel so good — It was one of my favorites in feelings generated with writing too!! To think it was an image I was not expecting to use (from winter)… and it just felt so right once I got started with it. Much Love and Gratitude for your sweet comment~ Robyn

Wear me deep inside your dreams
till I become your awareness again
    under the tomorrow’s sun ….

Let my silence slosh in your senses
like a zephyr in spring , until I lay
my next golden bounty on your masculinity ….

Let my memory be the link
    between the known
    and
    The smiling surprise ….

    • Well just getting back from a tough day in NYC ~ and to this gem! You outdid yourself with this Nika ~ I love that you took on the feminine persona ~ the sun. It’s absolutely perfect. And the ending, superb. Bravo to you — I’m not sure what to do with this as it’s so excellent I feel like I need to repost with a supplement ? Maybe after some time goes by … if you would permit (with proper credit of course).. thank you dear one ~ very wonderful to come home to this today!! ~RL

Mmm, quite lovely, Robyn. I deeply enjoy how very sensual, how very human this embrace of sea and sky, of sand and sun can be in your words.

    • Thank you so much George. Very happy to know you enjoyed it. The image was certainly my muse here:) … fun to explore this way ~ Much Love to you ~RL

  50. Robyn, I spent a long time on your blog last evening … reading and re-reading posts and soaking in the photographs. You are what we used to call “different”. It’s painful to be different. It’s lonely to be different. It’s special to be different. It’s a gift. Both a blessing and a curse. Your silhouettes are my favorites. There is an introspection in them that appeals to me. You are too young to have such pain. I am seventy years old and any pain that I might have had can only be described as discomfort by comparison. However, I sense that pain, either emotional or physical, is a kind of trial by fire in the scheme of things. You are one of the most complex and fascinating people whom I ever met. Just wanted you to know that I am following along with great interest. 🙂

    September 4, 2012 at 11:22 AM

    • Wow George – such a lovely comment — thank you so much for spending some time and really exploring the site. I am not sure how “different” I am except for having a sensitive soul and a body that has a mind of its own defying usual solutions. I guess, this has had an impact on me as a whole though… for better or worse (would be for better if I could ever get past the ick). So glad you enjoyed the shadow shots — yes – feel that way too: introspective. I feel honored to know you as well — and am very touched that you took such an interest. Blessings and wellness — and good-feelings always to you ~ x RL

    • Oh thank you so much David. Thrilled you enjoyed it — reminded me a little of you when I wrote it –your passion for the nature ~ 🙂

      September 13, 2012 at 11:15 AM

  53. Wonderful photos, wonderful words, I hope you are overcoming the challenges you spoke about

    September 20, 2012 at 11:43 PM

    • Thanks so much Valerie… so appreciate your visiting and warm compliment. As for me– trying to forge forward – still very much on a roller coaster with my health/pain challenges. I actually wrote a poem Tuesday, and did a self portrait expressing my dilemma. A bit different for me – but maybe will post. So appreciate your encouragement ~ Much Love, R

      September 21, 2012 at 12:12 AM

  54. Beautiful image, Robyn… Loving the sepia, and even the footprints draw you in to the layered poetry.

Your perspective was an interesting twist for me, as I’ve always viewed the ocean as feminine (water, receptive) and the sun as masculine (fire, projective) energies. I even looked through the comments and was surprised to find no mention of it.

    Well done! 🙂

    September 28, 2012 at 11:09 PM

    • Thanks so much Remy — wow – I like your interpretation and it makes sense from an energetic perspective, but when I wrote this there was no doubt in my mind about which was the feminine force and which was the masculine 🙂 It was one of those poems that sort of was a channeled effort – not too much analysis! But as you point out – Water is surely receptive and Sun certainly projective… So I amy need to make a new poem sometime approaching things from a different angle! So appreciate your insight here… love to learn and exchange ideas. This is a wonderful group!! Much Love ~ and Sunsets ~ RL

      September 29, 2012 at 1:34 AM

  55. Wow, that poem was something else. Just amazing. You were talking about the beach……..

    December 20, 2012 at 10:55 PM

    • Thank you Bumba! Glad you got to see — yes it was another sunset – but this time on the ocean… of course the “she” is referring to the sun – and the “he” is the ocean tides… so another love affair with nature I suppose …. this may have been one of the first I did in this scrolling down style… I’ve tapered it since then to even more minimal words per line.. So glad you liked it ~ 🙂

      December 20, 2012 at 11:45 PM

  56. Robyn,
I hadn’t read it until now, but I love the flow of it and your words paint a beautiful picture of love’s image. Fantastic!
    Big Hug,
