Hope & Healing Through Photography and Poetic Expression

My Crystal Ball

Gaze into
My
Crystal
Ball

Potential:
Limitless
No borders
Or walls.

Paths
Paved with
Gold

Translucent
Blue
Sky;

You
Needn’t
Hesitate, nor
Wonder
Why.

Winged creatures
Sing–
‘Welcome’
Invite you
To stay;

Emerald trees
Offer
Branches,
To guide your
Way.

So rub my
Crystal ball
And
Know,

The
Journey
Awaits us;
It’s time to go.

  2. Thanks nightlake…. just a little bit of fantasy today ~ so glad you enjoyed. Was fun to do πŸ™‚

    July 18, 2012 at 11:20 PM

  3. How did you do that effect with the photograph? Incredible. Your poem is so beautiful and kind of reminded me of Aladdin’s lamp for some reason. The last line is a bit scary and could be read in two ways but I like the ambiguity. I am so hoping today is a better day for you, my lovely friend, Robyn. Lots of love coming your way – Juliexxxxxx

  4. Thanks so much Julie ~Not a very good day, unfortunately… But hey a girl has gotta keep the endorphins/oxytocin going somehow, so fantasy with my crystal ball was the way to go!! LOL!

Hmmm… you want me to reveal my photo magic hugh? πŸ˜‰ ~ This is what they call a fish eye lens. It’s super wide angle and distorts the image to project a spherical type effect which worked great for my poem’s CB theme. Ending not really scary… all in the realm of fantasy… I have always had a pretty good imagination which I think is part of my survival arsenal these days…. I will take you along just for an afternoon – how’s that? πŸ˜‰ Hope you are holding your own sweet friend, and sending lots of love back to you!! ~R xo

  11. Your words I always find so fascinating and wonderful… then somehow you manage to add a photo out of the top shelf… it is an awesome combination that I just love… I commented on another blog today that I stand in astonishment of the accomplishment of some of the blogs I follow, and yours is just one of those I look for first to see what you have produced for me to enjoy… Thank you so much…

    July 19, 2012 at 7:36 AM

    • Oh wow bulldogstrurf … thank you for that ‘top shelf’ compliment today! I am really glad you enjoyed this ~ I’m never too sure how my readers are going to respond to my whimsical fantasy type posts πŸ™‚ This was fun though… and really wanted to share. I am amazed at my fellow-bloggers creativity and sensitivity as I read others’ work … very honored you enjoy my projects as well! I’m learning quite a bit more about the intricacies of wildlife at your beautiful blog too ~ so thank you friend πŸ™‚

  13. This is glorious Robyn…truly needed today and perhaps a good luck charm…trying to figure out how you did this…is it one of those garden globes…anyway we’re on a similar wavelength these days…you’ll see…great work!

    July 19, 2012 at 8:21 AM

    • Thank you dear Meryl ~ You can join Angel and me on our outing today ….sure to bring you good luck after the journey has culminated πŸ™‚
Ok – photography trick … this is an actual photo of the woods at the wild life refuge πŸ™‚ It’s just shot with the fish-eye lens to give the spherical effect.
I have not done a lot with the fish-eye (usually opt for wide angle) but this distortion was perfect for my crystal ball theme today – yes? Sending Love and will check out your blog to see about our wavelengths xxoo

  17. Have become much too cynical for these lovely thoughts. Perhaps Peter Pan can resurrect me.

    July 19, 2012 at 10:02 AM

    • Oh Carl… I know that inner voice of cynicism too…this is why we need to visit here and indulge in the fantasy every now and then. Between the ‘healing lens’ and now, the ‘crystal ball’…. well you get it πŸ™‚ Good thoughts your way today friend ~ RL

  18. Clare

    Hi Robyn,

This has to be my favorite so far! I often look into my crystal ball and see my future without pain, sometimes it’s the only thing that keeps me going! I was inspired to keep moving from your blog, I was up to an hour and it felt so good, I even lost some weight, but then my steroid shot wore off and the pain got the best of me…SO I read your blog again today so I would be inspired to get moving. I don’t know how you get through this without pain meds, you’re my hero!

    July 19, 2012 at 12:13 PM

    • Oh Clare…did not know you were keeping up with the blog ~ thank you sweet friend. I am so happy it provides even a small amount of inspiration for you. Gosh – so know what you are going through…. and my situation is no different. I’m convinced that last surgery made me a lot worse… have not been in touch with Dr. S – he has no idea. I need to communicate. My mri says I have a “frank labral tear” ~ that was 9 months post-op along with progressive degeneration of cartilage etc. Can’t be good. Let’s keep holding on to hope — the blogging helps me with that… and please keep me posted. So not a hero — but sooo thrilled to help keep your spirits lifted ~ Do wish I could dabble in pain meds too…just for some respite… but just have to come up with other strategies… Sending love and thrilled you enjoyed this post so much xo R

      July 19, 2012 at 3:36 PM

  19. Mystical and Magical. I read the words…savored them….(we both used emerald and trees!!! ) and then scrolled down to the image….WOW! Huge impact. So creative are you!!!! Rubbing the crystal ball……….yay! Supreme post. Bravo Sea Sista’ xoxo

    July 19, 2012 at 3:10 PM

    • Yay – so you will come too??!! I will be in such good company ~ So happy πŸ™‚ YES – I notice the same when reading your amazing poem today…. the GREEN… we are thinking alike again. How funny that we seem to flow from sea to forest at the same time without conferring (and very moon-willing here too) ….

Very happy you enjoyed ~ and liked the presentation/image too. Was concerned this was going to come off way flaky ~ but figured I was in a safe enough place to do go into the ‘wild fantasy whimsy’ me. I’m going back to yours soon — must re-read that passionate work of art a few times today….still stuck in my head from earlier ~ Love and HUGS to my Sister of Sea and Green ~ xo

  20. Chris

This sounds as though you managed to get to a magical place even if it was just for a brief moment, great poem Robyn.

    July 19, 2012 at 4:48 PM

    • Thank you dear Chris…t’was my goal…. and yes – for a brief moment, and through some severe pain. But as we’ve been chatting about, distraction and creative energies can offer some respite at times. Grateful for that πŸ™‚

      July 19, 2012 at 9:20 PM

  21. Yes lets! Love it, the poem and the picture and the descriptions were so lively….you rock, Ms. Robyn!
    love to you

    July 19, 2012 at 7:18 PM

    • Thank you Linda – a marvel indeed πŸ™‚ So happy you liked it πŸ™‚

      July 19, 2012 at 9:21 PM

  23. Magic…fantasy…dreams…a better place. I just LOVE how words flow to me after I see/read your posts. Most excellent!! I happen to love Dave Matthews Band…and to quote one of their songs… “The future is no place to place your better days…”

I’d like to join you in the crystal ball! Thank you for not only this little journey outside my world…but also for continually inspiring me! I have to agree with Celeste — You Rock! πŸ™‚ Hugs&Blessings to you sweet friend!!

    July 19, 2012 at 7:27 PM

    • Thank you so much Christina! ‘Flowing words’ post poem reading, sounds wonderful to me… as I kept looking at this one and wondering if I was loosing my mind πŸ™‚ It was fun though and who knows, maybe a ‘crystal ball’ series in the future?? Do love the quote ~ and agree… Now is the time!!

Please do join me anytime my friend… you are always welcome. And another smile — for me “Rocking”!! Just love that expression ~ Hugs right back at you xo

  24. victoriaaphotography

Wow, spectacular photo and words. How amazing that you can spin such a story in words & find the perfect photo to match.

    July 19, 2012 at 9:16 PM

    • Thanks so much for that Victoria… This photo was one from some time ago (fall perhaps?) ~ one of the first and few that I used the fisheye lens for. I’m thinking if I could conjure up more fantasy poetry, I could have a crystal ball series using this special effect. Haven’t been back tot he woods since summer here… just way too risky for Lyme ticks (though not sure you have that issue in Australia)… Miss the woods though – so this ‘escape’ post was a good way to feel it again~ xo

      July 19, 2012 at 9:30 PM

  25. Ah, Robyn, you continuously amazing and impress me. So much talent for such a lovely human being. God blesses us even as he puts seemingly overwhelming trials in front of us. Just-simply-wonderful!

    July 20, 2012 at 12:46 AM

    • Glad you enjoyed Penny! My fish-eye lens may become my new crystal ball as this was great fun πŸ™‚ Thought maybe a bit flaky, but guess that’s just what flowed so went with it. A friend recently shared a quote that reflects your sentiments above “God gives us beauty for our ashes” I believe is what she said (referring to the friendship we made due to our challenges). Thank you dear friend ~ much love xo

  27. It is enough to learn to hear the heartbeat and descrifar a language that goes beyond words, which shows what the eyes can not see. ”
    Paulo Coelho
There is a relationship between these words of the writer and your words, your crystal ball that seems magical, you always leave us important things only with the heart one can see.
    Gracias por este post mravillosoΒ‘

    July 20, 2012 at 9:04 PM

    • I agree dear Carlos — only with the heart can one see ~ and feel too!!! I am so glad you liked my magical crystal ball… I may introduce a series of “crystal ball” posts as it was great fun to do. Imagination can really be explored when we leave reality even for this short spell.
Gracias for your lovely words sweet friend ~ RL

      July 20, 2012 at 9:11 PM

  28. Lovely poem and photo! I haven’t seen many shots like that – I like the crystal ball effect you captured.

    July 22, 2012 at 1:54 AM

    • Thanks so much Fergi. So glad you liked my crystal ball post. I have a special lens that gives this type of effect, and it was a lot of fun to write this, so may continue on with more crystal ball adventures in the future πŸ™‚ Much appreciate your comment dear one!! πŸ™‚

      July 22, 2012 at 12:01 PM

  29. Wonderful shot…..the fairy-tale of the woods, captured in the magic of a crystal ball. Enchanting πŸ™‚

    July 30, 2012 at 5:33 AM

    • Aww thank you Tania! I love the way you worded that ~ totally fun image to ponder πŸ™‚
