Once Upon A Time
“…for with each dawn,
she found new hope that someday,
her dreams of happiness would come true.”

Cinderella

I am most delighted to invite you to enjoy this wonderful poem by fellow blogger, Julie Catherine, entitled Sonnet Sequence: On Cinderella « . Julie and I agree that, together, the posts make a lovely collaboration of image and words.

Oh Robyn, this is beautiful, I love it! Love both the concept of the woman’s shadow, and the sandcastle Castle – awesome photography! (Wow, this would look perfect with my Cinderella Sonnet Sequence.) 🙂

If you’d like to utilize the image — I’d be honored ~ perhaps I can provide a link to your post here as well, and house your piece in my poetry section too~ a collaboration of sorts? Let me know! ~ RL ps: Cinderella my ultimate favorite fairytale growing up 😉

Very creative with the morning shadow and the sand castle under construction. A real fairytale.
July 14, 2012 at 12:24 AM
Thank you Kim! I also thought so much a fairytale shot — took it a few weeks back, felt now a good time to indulge. Thrilled you enjoyed!
July 14, 2012 at 12:27 AM
I love the creativity behind this picture : )
July 14, 2012 at 12:34 AM
Thank you Elizabeth! It was totally unplanned… Creativity was merely being aware that I was wearing a a long flowing skirt as I stumbled upon a nicely designed castle to call my own this day!! ~ So glad you enjoyed. Fun post for me too as I love fairytales that remind us – anything is possible 🙂 xo
July 14, 2012 at 12:37 AM
wonderful shot with a flowing gown. Many women look for happiness and fairytale endings, I suppose.. (the dream could be different though:))
July 14, 2012 at 12:58 AM
Thank you dear nightlake — you are so right, and I am a hopeless romantic at heart myself but — fairytales do not always come true…yet one can always hope for ‘happily ever after’ in whatever form it may present itself 😉
July 14, 2012 at 1:01 AM
How wonderful Robyn and thanks for the linkup to Julie – this post of yours has the wow factor! Jx

Thank you for sharing the poetry. Oh, my, this tops one of my favorite photos by you. The photo is so engaging and inviting, and very magical. You do have that eye…I always mention. Pure beauty. Thank you. Made my day. Love how your inner light shines through your photos. 🙂 Sea Sister
July 14, 2012 at 2:10 AM
Thank you soooo much Sam. Yes – Julie’s poetry/writing is brilliant -know you will enjoy it.
I’m so glad, something magical for your birthday 🙂 You are so kind…. I had no idea I’d like this shot as much as I do until well after it was taken. Very much unplanned ~ but I’m a sucker for fairytales (Shadow Lovers had that impact too ) so considering Cinderella was my ultimate idol ~ well look at what she overcame… (i liked the Rodgers and Hammerstein version though) — I was pretty excited to share this one too. Cinderella at the SEA!! ~ perfect right? May all your dreams come true this year Sam. Hope your birthday was as beautiful as your heart is ~ Much LOVE
July 14, 2012 at 2:18 AM
Awe….thanks….it was a lovely day, and I got to end it with a fairyland castle on the beach. 🙂 My pleasure to visit your blog. Unplanned magic…that’s the best. Hugs and sleep well. 🙂

July 14, 2012 at 11:29 AM
I am always so touched by your words Penny…. this image was sort of special to me, and took me back to my days as a girl, fairytale dreams and infinite hope ~ very wonderful that Julie exposed me to her perfect poem to match it too…. so meaningful to collaborate with fellow-artists here. As you say – we are all so connected 🙂 Much Love my friend xo
July 14, 2012 at 11:35 AM
Great, both the lovely words and the beautiful photo with foot prints and castle in the sand – and not forgetting the lovely silhouette… 😉
July 14, 2012 at 7:41 AM
Thank you kindly ledrakenoir ~ yes – lots of dimensions in this image to enjoy. So glad you did ~ and yes – my silhouette 🙂 got to be a princess for a moment there, how cool is that? ~RL
July 14, 2012 at 11:04 AM
Wonderful Robyn…..the image and the collaboration…I love the whole concept and it’s so enriching to share ones work with another artist…maybe we can do something together…think about it…maybe images on the same theme…xoxm
July 14, 2012 at 7:59 AM
Thanks Meryl…. yes I agree, the collaborations have been wonderful. This one was completely unplanned, as Julie was my first comment and made mention of her poem, which I then read and adored ~ and thus here we are. Love when things unfold like magic that way. Her blog is filled with fantastic writing ~ you might enjoy her style a lot – highly recommend.
Yes – was thinking about asking you when i saw your latest post if I might use your poetry (help) with a photo I shot a while back and never used – and then link to your site… need to locate it but know your poem would be perfect for this shot I’m thinking of. I suppose that would be “images on the same theme” too ~ so we think alike 🙂 xo
July 14, 2012 at 11:09 AM
Sounds like a interesting idea and we can post them perhaps at the same time. Why don’t you e-mail me the image? 🙂
July 14, 2012 at 5:05 PM
can send you… though since you just posted your image (Help)… maybe want to wait a bit? or can just use your poem along side my image and refer to your blog to see yours? I’ll try to dig it up to see what you think… may not have enough ‘fire’ but has the ‘blankets’ for sure 🙂
July 14, 2012 at 5:25 PM
Oh my goodness!! How you have captured the magic of the princess-fairytale-archetype in your gorgeous photo. So beautiful.
July 14, 2012 at 8:12 AM
Thank you dear Angela… I confess ~ that archetype has appealed to me since girlhood 🙂 I’ve taken on warrior and goddess too … but princess was the original! So happy you liked the whimsical image here ~ Blessings always, RL
July 14, 2012 at 11:24 AM
Wonderful, wonderful photo Robyn. Your shadow images get better & better every day.
July 14, 2012 at 8:40 AM
Aww – thank you Victoria!! So glad you are enjoying the shadow portraits. I have learned these shadows do require some skill to capture the effects I’m trying to achieve… it’s a lot of fun (though must be careful not to twist spine and knee, too much to get the perfect angles)! 🙂
July 14, 2012 at 11:27 AM
So adore this photo….love everything about it. xo Now going to go check out the poetry. xo
July 14, 2012 at 12:34 PM
Awesome!
July 14, 2012 at 4:17 PM
Fun one right?! Glad you enjoyed – Thank you 🙂
July 14, 2012 at 5:27 PM
And we all know how much I love fun. xo
July 14, 2012 at 5:32 PM
fantasy and shadow images — and long gowns…that’s my girl 🙂 xo
July 14, 2012 at 5:34 PM
Magical, whimsical, inviting, breathtaking!! I absolutely LOVE your photographs Robyn…to ‘see’ what you ‘see’ through the camera…and a collaboration with the poem too, most awesome! 🙂
July 14, 2012 at 8:33 PM
Thanks you Christina – what a splendid compliment this is from you. Yes – my camera (or lens) is colored with alot of my own ‘stuff’ very often – and you as a sensitive soul that you are, are very likely to be able to notice such. So happy you enjoyed this so much 🙂
July 14, 2012 at 10:46 PM
I have always felt Cinderella was such a delightful name and wanted to so name my daughter. But she was named Cristina instead.
July 14, 2012 at 10:34 PM
I do love the name Cinderella – simply because I was a fan since childhood …. The name you ultimately selected for your daughter, Christina, is simply lovely as I am sure she is Carl. Thank you 🙂
July 14, 2012 at 10:44 PM
What I love about this picture Robyn is that it makes the fairytale seem so true–and in the now! This is beautiful to me and I love how you and Julie (a favorite!) have each paired your work together What a generous act of love this is to witness! xox
July 15, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Thank you so much Jeannie! You are right — there is something ‘contemporary’ or ‘now’ about the image of this princess on a local beach! I had not really looked at it that way till you offered this comment – and very cool, so thank you!! So thrilled to work with Julie on this (totally unplanned too) — just beautiful when things unfold that way as though they were just meant to be. Much love my friend ~ and hope all is going your way with the new position and family time ~ Robyn xo
July 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM
some of the most memorable movies i have ever seen were produced by Walt Disney Studios …. and some of the most memorable posts i have ever read have been produced by you Robyn, so there seems to be some kind of correlation here and that correlation seems to be …. legendary.
…. and that photo instantly reminded me of Hendrix’s song ” Castles Made Of Sand ” …. thanks again for yet another totally awesome share and best wishes being sent your way as always dear friend ….:) Jim
July 15, 2012 at 11:19 PM
What a lovely picture! I love seeing through your eyes with the things you capture through your heart, with your lens…..I will have to read Julie’s poem…..I love Ms. Julie…..she is a unique and delightful person to befriend…… And my heart oozes with love for you too, Robyn! In the short time I have known you, I feel a connection and kindredness of spirit…..We are two old souls traveling our paths and striving for the light……we must have been acquainted in a past life somehow, if indeed those things be true……. Thanks Robyn…..
much love
Celeste
July 16, 2012 at 11:08 AM
Such a wonderful comment Celeste. Thank you dear friend ~ it means a lot to know you can appreciate the feelings behind the images and poetry I share here. Such a wonderful group of sensitive souls ~ and such a blessing to have a forum to connect this way and share our personal creations. Yes, Julie is quite amazing both as an artist/writer, and also as a wonderful woman, so happy to have crossed paths with her as well! Hope you got to take a look at her incredible poem (Sonnet Sequence: On Cinderella 🙂 ) Very true about the kindredness of spirit… so agree, and felt that way the first time I stumbled upon your passionate writing. I also wonder about knowing people from past lives, or even just on some different energetic level… as it seems sometimes we just instantly feel a connectedness that goes beyond the scope of the relationship. So appreciate your warm words Celeste
~ Love to you always, Robyn
