  2. That is such a beautiful quote. I’ve never heard it before. And what a fantastic shot of the waves rolling in, too. I don’t think I would ever tire of sitting on the shore, just watching.

    May 17, 2012 at 11:57 PM

    • Thanks Jeannie – will be doing a follow-up on the poet who wrote the quote a bit later today!! She’s exceptional (24 years old) …I loved it as well, and just had to use it with this photo that seemed to me the image of waves kissing the shore 🙂 I’m with you– lets all get together for a wave watching party!!

  13. Kathy

You captured the waves just at the moment they look as though covering the sand with lace! Love the quote too.

    May 18, 2012 at 7:51 AM

    • Yes – I had not really noticed this but I so see it now. Thanks Kathy — oh, and the quote comes from Sara Kay who is a young (24 years old) poet (spoken word). You will LOVE her performance that I will be posting a bit later as a companion to this post. Be sure to catch it 🙂 and and have a wonderful weekend!!

Oh dear…I cry too easily at music and poetry I fear too. Well, I’ll have my tissue handy then. We can cry together, allowing neither of us to feel silly at the notion of the emotion.

        May 18, 2012 at 11:05 AM

      • 😉

        May 18, 2012 at 11:10 AM

  17. Wow…awesome phrase on what I interpret as unconditional love. You have captured the waves with amazing light and clarity. Beautiful work, Robyn. Are you using a fish-eye lens? how do you get the roundness?

    May 18, 2012 at 11:37 AM

    • Thanks so much Jane! It’s actually a wide angle lens but if I hold the camera in such a way, it does seem to pick up curve like a fish eye would. Glad you liked the quote too – Sara Kay is awesome!

      May 18, 2012 at 1:02 PM

      • Yes! I went to the TED talk link-kept it as a favourite.Thnx for passing it on…

    May 18, 2012 at 8:12 PM

    • Thanks again William. So glad you wanted to share it with your followers too! Appreciate 🙂

      May 18, 2012 at 9:34 PM

  19. Robyn, what a beautiful photo accompanied by such beautiful words. I’m intrigued by the idea of the waves as persevering with hope, despite being sent away time and time again. What a powerful insight!

    May 21, 2012 at 3:40 PM

    • Thanks KT! Yes – loved this quote, and it has stayed with me. I’m so glad you found it powerful as well…. can represent unremitting love of self – or others… and yes – hope! 🙂

      May 21, 2012 at 4:05 PM

  20. i absolutely adore the photo Robyn, but i may have to chat with Sara Kay on this particular quote …
in my view, the receding tides are the lands way of kissing back the incoming waves … they do meet with a splash at some point,
the land to me is returning the kisses to the ocean not sending them away, does this make any sense at all …
sorry for stirring up a bit of controversy on this one but it really got me thinking so i share my view for what it’s worth,
thank you once again for another thought provoking and wonderful post Robyn …:)

    May 21, 2012 at 9:57 PM

    • Ahhh = can see your point Jim, though initially felt Sarah was accurate in her assessment that the shoreline was sending he waves back over and over again! hmmmm… now I will have to ponder if this is unremitting love or a firely mutual dance of passion 🙂 LOL! thanks for sharing another perspective — very cool! So glad you enoyed !

      May 21, 2012 at 10:36 PM

      • thanks for keeping an open mind and putting up with my sometimes controversial thoughts and i will definitely ponder some more on this one Robyn …. firefly mutual dance of passion, lol … that’s a good one …:)
