Unending Love, 1889
by Rabindranath Tagore

I seem to have loved you in numberless forms, numberless times…
In life after life, in age after age, forever.
My spellbound heart has made and remade the necklace of songs,
That you take as a gift, wear round your neck in your many forms,
In life after life, in age after age, forever.

Whenever I hear old chronicles of love, it’s age-old pain,
It’s ancient tale of being apart or together.
As I stare on and on into the past, in the end you emerge,
Clad in the light of a pole-star piercing the darkness of time:
You become an image of what is remembered forever.

You and I have floated here on the stream that brings from the fount.
At the heart of time, love of one for another.
We have played along side millions of lovers, shared in the same
Shy sweetness of meeting, the same distressful tears of farewell-
Old love but in shapes that renew and renew forever.

Today it is heaped at your feet, it has found its end in you
The love of all man’s days both past and forever:
Universal joy, universal sorrow, universal life.
The memories of all loves merging with this one love of ours –
And the songs of every poet past and forever.

Much Love on
Valentine’s Day
and  Always,

 ❤  Robyn Lee

  1. Robyn, that is one killer sunset! I absolutely love, love, love, the way you captured the reflection on all the little pebbles in the lower right foreground. Almost looks like someone sprinkled jewels all over the beach. Just beautiful!!!

    February 14, 2013 at 6:26 AM

    • Thank you so much dear Jeff! I am so glad you noticed those pebbles!! I too loved the effect of all the sparkles….and wondered if anyone would notice — and might I say, it does not surprise me that you were the one who did!! 🙂 Something magical about the way they reflected the light… YES – like jewels!! ~ totally unintended of course -but you know I’m very much a beginner. 🙂 ~ Also — thought I was getting your posts in my reader and just realized had not been — so made up for some lost time and tried again to sign up. Sending lots of love to you and yours this day ~ 🌷 RL

      February 14, 2013 at 10:27 AM

      • How could I not notice them! To me they add so much to the photo. I hope you don’t mind, but I like them so much that I’ll be attempting to steal your idea the next time I’m shooting a coastal sunrise. I only hope I can capture them half as well as you did.

Yea, that’s why I never use the “follow” button and only subscribe to the blogs, like yours ;-), via email. I don’t even remember about the reader half the time. But if I get the notification in my inbox I’ll remember to take a look. I’ve come across several blogs I’d like to follow, but they don’t have an email subscription option so I don’t bother. I know I’ll never remember to look in the reader.

  5. Hi Robyn,
How lucky are you living that close to a) the sea, and b) a sunset like that .. beautiful picture!
I had noticed the stones too , but I thought it was my monitor. Now I know, it makes the picture even better 🙂

Your beach must be a fabulous place to go in the summer.
I’ve always wanted to live near the sea, but where we live now is pretty much smack in the the country , aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas far away from the sea as it’s possible to be over here 😦

A great poem too Robyn, hope you’re having a wonderful Valentines day 🙂
    love n hugs
    xxx

    • Thank you dear Seadog ~ yes it is wonderful to live so close to beautiful beaches… Summer especially but have come to really appreciate them even in winter months. This sunset was January — so very cold — but also peaceful. We need to move you closer to sea ~ especially given your name… 🙂

So happy you enjoyed the post my friend ~ and happy Valentine’s Day to you as well… Much Love ~ Robyn 🌻

    February 15, 2013 at 2:38 PM

    • Exactly how I feel Arash ~ was hesitant to even do a post emphasizing the day because every day needs to be dedicated to giving and receiving Love ~ in my humble opinion… Do hope I made this statement in my own way here. So happy to hear from you ~ hope those dreams are continuing… and will need to come over and see what’s new over there. Have been ups and downs here ~ but staying encouraged. Lots of Love to you dear friend 🌻 ~ RL

      February 15, 2013 at 5:07 PM

  10. That was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful thank you for the view… yes I’m referring to the words.. they somehow magically do make the picture worth looking deeper into. Do so without form. 🙂

    February 15, 2013 at 7:47 PM

    • Oh thank you so much Mr. Clark Kent!! I am deligted and honored to recive your lovely comment today. Yes I agree, the words here do bring you back to the image — and concept of ‘forever’ being real in the face of Love — as a force of nature…

Blessings and Love to you – so enjoyed your V Day post too! ~ and so much appreciate your visit here and insightful thoughts

  11. It is a very beautiful poem, dear Robyn. It is no wonder I was inspired to do an “Art Gown” for you. It is finished, and I am working on the post today.
There’s a lot of pics to sift through. They are very beautiful and I call the gown “Venus Blue” and tie it in with sculpture.

    February 16, 2013 at 10:59 AM

    • Oh Resa Thank you sooo much~ I could not have dreamed of a more beautiful gown… Blue Venus ~ yes — art at its finest – no question about that! I Love it – and ever-so-meaningful coming from you, brilliant friend ~ Love to you ~ Robyn

    • Oh thank you so much Rick ~ very flattered that you enjoyed the image — for me a new camera (DSLR) and still learning. Also thrilled you were touched by the words I chose to accompany it ; I am also quite moved by this classic piece by Tagore… speaks to the heart of the artist, the poet and the love we all are ~ Sending wishes for a wonderful Sunday and a bright week ahead! 🌊🌾 Robyn

    • You are such a love Stan — thank you for checking. It was a quiet Valentine’s Day for me — though beautiful dozen roses at my lobby when I arrived home from my rehab training. So happy you loved this image too (maybe my favorite of the sunset shots I’ve done thus far)… and not to worry — new fun “Robyn Lee” romantic poem on the way from me — to honor my special Blue Venus gown created by our lovely friend Resa ~ Any moment now so stay tuned! xo RL 💐

  15. What a great poem! You are a fantastic poet.

    February 20, 2013 at 2:26 PM

    • Aww – so sweet Sara — I do write a bit of poetry but this one can’t take credit for …. Tagore wrote in 1889! I took the sunset shot though ~ and do adore this poem – especially in honor of Valentine’s Day ~ x Much Love, Robyn

      February 20, 2013 at 5:46 PM

      • Oh haha. Actually I was wondering but I just assumed. It is a great poem. And that is a really nice photo too.

        February 20, 2013 at 7:26 PM

  16. Glorious photograph. Love is by far the most popular theme in WordPress poetry and I have read quite a few. Many are fervidly pining, others are delightfully sexy, some drench the reader with gushes of emotion and now there is this one – a calm voice speaking of matured love in a considered manner right down to the punctuating breathing points. Not for the first time I find your words and phrases blended into thoughts that could only come from a remarkable mind that refuses to accept an iota less than the purest interpretation. The entire dynamic of this ode to love is carefully shaped in tone, breath, metre, diction, weight and judicious metaphor. Listen to yourself:

‘…Clad in the light of a pole-star piercing the darkness of time’.

I envy your perspicuity (and also the one whom this piece speaks of).

[Possible housekeeping: 2nd stanza – ‘its’ for ‘it’s’ (X2)? And the 3rd, ‘along side’ – one word?]

    February 20, 2013 at 7:22 PM

  17. Oh dear Mike ~ you are so wonderful to share all this — but I must confess — this poem is not my own — Unending Love was written in 1889
by Rabindranath Tagore (there is link to his bio above poem and under titel) ~ can you imagine it was written so long ago
… I selected it to post with this photo for V Day ~ just loved it and thought perfect compliment — timeless and forever…. ‘

“…Clad in the light of a pole-star piercing the darkness of time” ~ probably my favorite line that you made mention of ~
Thank you dear friend — always so happy to hear from you~ ! RL

    February 20, 2013 at 8:04 PM

  18. Your poem is so very lovely Robyn, and breathtakingly timeless! I felt the energy in every word, every line, and the whole of it’s elegance! I have read many poems in my life, but yours is truly exquisite and spellbinding. Awesome write, and thanks for sharing it, i feel blessed to have read it today…have a wonderful Sunday my friend!

    February 24, 2013 at 9:22 AM

    • Thank you dear Wendell ~ I am so glad you enjoyed, though cannot take credit for the write here …as was done in 1889 by Rabindranath Tagore. I too felt so moved by it when I read it, that had to share along with my image (above) for this day intended to celebrate Love ~ It is classic an timeless – I have to agree — and very special ~ So happy to know it touched you as well ~ Much Love ~ xo RL

      February 25, 2013 at 12:28 AM

  19. Touched me so very deeply….wow… I felt I was with the ancient poet….divine and seemingly brought me home. I get this; I get this so very well. xo

    March 11, 2013 at 3:29 PM

    • Oh Sam — so happy to see you and know this touched you too… yes – the “ancient poet” — clearly had a depth of insight and universal consciousness that goes deep into the core of the human heart that is genuine Divine Love ~ It’s a special piece I thought – and needed to share here. Very thrilled you ‘get it’ too !! Much Love to you sea sis ~ R
