  9. Such a delicate artful piece. It really is this way with the gorgeous rose, and with so much of life. All the more reason to appreciate when we get to experience these joyous places you describe. Thank you.

  10. Such an amazing metaphor between ones inner being and the blooming of what I find to be one of the most beautiful delicate flowers to behold. Truly a lovely piece.
    Namaste
    Benjamin

    January 6, 2013 at 1:28 PM

    • Thank you so much dearest Benjamin – very happy to know this touched you… means a lot to me. YES – such a hugely amazing metaphor here. I was never drawn to the ‘rose’ as much as in recent years… almost wonder if the complexity and ‘inner journey’ it may symbolize was subconsciously intimidating to me somehow (always went for the gerber daisy and sunflower – or even the tulip 🙂 ) At this stage of life though – the rose has it all ~ Blessings and Love — May your day be filled with happy moments! ~ Much Love, Robyn

  12. Robyn, I love the idea of the bloom which you explore. The peeling back of layers and your symbolism is beautiful. Thank you for continuing to share our creative expressions

    January 6, 2013 at 2:04 PM

    • Dearest Arash — thank you so so much ! So thrilled to know this touched you in some way – and you could appreciate the ‘symbolism’ inherent in this metaphor. Delighted to have you visit – and keeping you in heart and prayers always ~ Much Love ~ and many wonderful “unfoldings” ahead for you my friend ~

  14. Dear Robyn Your words are so sensual and so cognizant of the brevity of a moment, reminding us to be fully present. The light is beautiful on a stunning rose and even the veins-lovely! Thank you for sharing your gift of vision and passion. Jane

    January 6, 2013 at 3:19 PM

    • Thanks so much dearest Jane! A rose is a good teacher for all of us in many ways (I decided last night in my “passionate fit” of writing this). So glad you liked the visual image as well ~ very lucky to have excellent daylight streaming in — and did not edit the photo much at all – yes I noticed the veins too – but actually – that word would have been super interesting to use in the poem, and instead my mind when to creases and folds (veins flow life-blood and can have all kinds of cool associations here – you are a poet my dear;) ) ~ Love and Gratitude x Robyn

    • Thanks so much Victoria – so glad you enjoyed —was lucky on that lovely saturated red color – did not edit at all there
~ ok ok — send me all the photo critique – I know you have some 🙂 I just used Automatic Depth of Field Setting – 18-55 mm lens — so got this partial focus partial blur effect which I thought was pretty dreamy and nice. As you can see, the rose sat in front of my window for photo shoot. ~ Much Love ~ Robyn

      January 6, 2013 at 6:59 PM

      • victoriaaphotography

No photo critique at all really, Robyn.
You’ve captured a flower with half the background in the sun and half in the shade – a difficult background to get right and I shoot so many of these type of backgrounds myself, especially at the zoo. I try to get the backgrounds all shade or all sun, but sometimes it’s impossible. That’s the best critique I can do for this one.
I just love the sharp focus in the centre of the rose.
And you’ve captured the colour so perfectly.
You’ve captured a rose far better than 97% of my rose images, so you should feel very pleased with it.

    • oh gosh Victoria – thank you so much for your thoughts on this. you aren’t being super kind to novice me? Such great compliment coming from you. When you didn’t answer right away – I though I must have really botched this one up !!! Thrilled you thought it worked, even with mixed lighting — I had a hard time even deciding which photo to use. I think what you said about the center is what attracted me to this one most…though others may have shown even more detail in the petals. Soooo appreciate your guidance ~ only a few photo-pros I feel safe with on technical talk – and you are in that group!! xxoo R

    January 6, 2013 at 8:33 PM

    • Thank you Julie ~ energizing is good ! A birthday rose 🙂 xo

      January 6, 2013 at 9:34 PM

  19. This is such a sensual poem Robyn and the rose could also be a metaphor for opening oneself up completely to that special person, being present, vulnerable, alive, willing to risk all. I believe this is one of your best yet Robyn. 🙂

    January 6, 2013 at 9:45 PM

    • Thank you dear LuAnn … Yes – I do agree. The rose bloom can represent one’s unfolding – and opening their most authentic self to another, or even to a higher power. Across cultures, the red rose is so often associated with romantic love. And the aspect of ‘vulnerability’ you mention, is also key … in fact, is the basis for the final verse of this poem. The impermanence of most everything in life – and to simply find joy in the present moment…. So I would say yes — a complex, metaphor – and very sensual one in many regards 🙂 Very thrilled you enjoyed ~ and loved hearing your thoughtful , and wise interpretation. Much Love to you ~ Robyn

So glad you liked ~ used new camera — so maybe more detail you are seeing in my photo (still ways to go on the learning curve). Always appreciate your supportive words and encouragement — not sure what the year will bring — but for all of us, keeping my focus on the very best possible! ~ Love to you…. RL

    • Thank you so much dearest Cat ~ YOU, my dear, are clearly looking through the “lens of romance” this new year -!!! I am so thrilled you were touched, and hoping they were good shivers 🙂

~ Yes maybe just a tad ‘romantic’ – but also a statement about patience, nurturance, the blooming of ‘self’ and the impermanence of life — and all that is to be cherished in every given moment.

Oh dear Yes — I know I thanked you for my wonderful creative bd gift… which I LOVED ~ may have been via a post vs email though ? I’m sorry if you missed it – was just perfect to start of new year — oooo – think i will make it my screen saver! Thank you again dearest friend —

  25. lovely robyn, this is exquisite. your way of juxtaposition is wonderfully explicit without hitting one over the head. i am sure you understand what i mean.

i hope you are feeling at least reasonably well these days. i have seen you over at sweet B’s blog’s comments, often right beneath yours and think to myself-i must go see her-so today i finally did. i have been having pain issues that are driving me more nuts than i already am…so my time online is limited to reading and not doing lots of typing. please know that i appreciate your kindness and openness. i think of you often, hoping always your day is filled with warm sunshine. xox

    January 7, 2013 at 1:49 PM

    • Oh Linda ~ thank you so much – that means a lot, and thrilled you enjoyed ; At the same time dearest friend — never feel obliged to strain yourself when the pain is out of control. I face this dilemma too — always wanting to stay in touch and comment on all the fantastic blogs … but sometimes the body just says no. For me shoulders and neck have been really miserable lately – which makes typing a challenge. I hope you feel better soon too… always thinking of you – and actually have wanted to respond to something you wrote me at your place around new year’s I think — on the medical end of things. Sending you a big hug and healing wishes always… Robyn

  27. Your words are so beautiful here, Robyn. Such a beautiful image of the rose, and of who we are as we love in our lives, and receive love in our lives. Thank you for sharing dear friend, Blessings, Erin

    January 8, 2013 at 8:18 PM

    • Thanks so much dearest Erin. I agree ~ very symbolic of life’s essence – beauty and fragility… and the way we care for and enjoy the moments we have to share ~ So glad you enjoyed this. Sending hugs and love ~ Robyn

    • Thank you so much dear Paul. I have to agree with you. Did not have one notion in my mind when writing it, and thought of all the same possibilities you mention here. I love when a piece can mean different things to the reader. Very grateful for your kind and loving comment ~ 🙂 Robyn
