A Look
Through The Healing Lens
of this special couple
I am delighted to introduce you to a most remarkable couple, Rachel and Bill, featured in the stunning image above. I was mesmerized by this photo when I first viewed it, and asked Rachel if I might display it in a post, and share her heartwarming story with my readers and friends here. She was honored.
Rachel and Bill met September 9, 2010 on a Facebook online support forum consisting of a group of patients coping with hip dysfunction, pain and surgical decisions. Slowly, and in spite of their respective pain and struggle, they discovered a magical connection across 800 miles. There were four months of letters before they met; And then, through the stressful rigors of surgery and a lengthy difficult rehabilitation, they became each other’s support, encouragement, motivation and hope. Their story is a beautiful testament to the fact that, every now and then, love shows up where we least expect it… and can, literally, change worlds. “He is my angel” were Rachel’s words to me this morning, after thanking me for seeing the magic, not only in this image, but in their love story.
I will never forget when I met Rachel on this same support forum, and we first chatted about our ongoing mission to overcome the hip problems and pain…we compared rehab strategies and surgical experiences. It was then that she told me of her new blossoming romance with Bill, one that was born of both physical pain and emotional challenge. I was deeply moved and uplifted, and now, I am doubly delighted to include each of you in the celebration, and beautiful spirit of their history.
With great joy, I dedicate this post to the beautiful union of Rachel and Bill.
They were blissfully married on September 8, 2012 .
Their story of love, healing and inspiration
has touched many lives.
Blessings and Love to them
Always!

I think the refrain is effective in poetry just as in oratory and song. You may enjoy two poets I follow: sixthsymph and stillfugue.
December 4, 2012 at 8:05 PM
Thank you Carl ~ yes the refrain here just seemed right … did not think much about it… this poem was first draft and mostly wrote itself. It is interesting you mention song though… several have mentioned to me that my writing has qualities of good song writing… Truly I know not what I’m doing – just having fun! I will definitely be checking out sixthsymp and stillfugue … love to learn! So appreicate and much love to you ~ R

I got teary looking at their beautiful photos – wonderful post, Robyn and your poem is so full of hope.
We just found out that my mum does have a hip fracture so I am off to pick her up and take her to hospital again. She refused to stay in hospital after her fall a few weeks ago so I am mad at her. Then yesterday’s CT scan showed head of femur fracture. I hope the hospital admits her this time.
December 4, 2012 at 8:08 PM
Thank you dear Julie ~ yes Rachel and Bill’s story is quite a testament to hope and healing. Thought it perfect for my blog-theme.
Oh gosh I am going to keep your Mom in prayer… I’m sure they will admit her with fracture, but keep me posted. It is sometimes difficult to heal these, especially in elderly. I hope she is not in too much pain ~ fill me in when you know more! Sending you love ~ xo R

December 5, 2012 at 10:06 AM
Been away since the beginning of the weekend and have had to just take quick looks at all 312 blogs that have stored up on me… but this one I could not pass by… I loved the opening words and as usual looked at a perfect picture… then read further and looked at the wedding photos… now I have to ask the question… is this Rachel your twin.?? Or are these photos of you and yours.????
December 5, 2012 at 7:10 AM
Thank you sweet friend! So glad you enjoyed the post. Now you are funny with this question my dear bulldog…. Rachel is a lovely young newlywed (just married in September) and me… well it was 1987 that I was “blissfully wed” 🙂 ! Truth is Rachel and I became friends online too… through the same hip group (Facebook) that she met her beloved, Bill on! Always loved the story behind their connection, and was inspired to feature it here (I admit — am a hopeless romantic!!) ~ Welcome back — missed you and all your gorgeous photos. Lots of Love xxoo R
December 5, 2012 at 10:10 AM
But her photo and you gravatar you could be twins….
December 5, 2012 at 11:03 AM

December 5, 2012 at 10:10 PM
WOW! Words cannot express as I read this i remember back when I was with Rach in DC and she was explaining the gift of a thousand boxes that bill sent 🙂 Thats when I was introduced to him verbally by RN and I knew there love and blooming love was vastly deeper and wider than she has ever felt before and vise versa. I knew he was the man and she was the woman for him! There was just this deep gut feeling and Tom created this with such beauty and Love….it is inspiring to say the least! Love you all!! xoxo
December 5, 2012 at 5:24 PM
Oh Katie ~ thank you so much for sharing this little bit of inside information. Now I need to find out what was in the thousand boxes??!!! 🙂 I’m sure something wonderful. An Opus of love. If life were a symphony and Rachel and Bill two instruments out of tune (their struggles with physical pain, surgeries and emotional trauma), the love they found and exchanged has indeed created a most glorious Opus with all the regalia that would accompany same. They are an amazing testament to the true power of love and I am so very happy for the joy and happiness they have found in one another. You’ve captured the essence of their experience and love of one another brilliantly sharing not only the wonderful photograph of them but also your romantic, moving and beautiful poetry. Thank you Robyn. This is an outstanding Post dearest friend of mine. All my love to you this evening! xxooxx

Oh Robyn, once again, such beauty on these pages — in your poetry, in the pictures you have shared. THANK YOU for your beautiful spirit and your willingness to share it. Yes, this is how love is — love surprises us! Where there was once “tightness”, harshness, and no hope…love sprouts. Love shows again and again and again its magnificent power to heal. I don’t know why I’d still be surprised every time this happens, but I am! Many blessings. so beautiful. Lisa
December 17, 2012 at 9:53 PM
Lisa – thank you so much for this!! This was a fun post— felt like a journalist getting to report on a “happily ever after” love story ~ and extra special that I became friends with Rachel right as this was all unfolding. I am thrilled you enjoyed – and yes — the moral of the story – “Never doubt the power of Love — or when/where it will show up!!”… and the healing – well what could be a better bonus than that! Love to you and yours during this holiday season dear friend ~ Robyn
