Seeking
We search
to find
that which we
seek
Beyond the
skies
and ocean
deep.
~~
Our vision
blurs and
colors
fade
We ask
if there’s a
debt to
pay.
~~
We seek
for
Love
We look
for
Truth;
~
We seek
for
Joy
We yearn
for
Youth.
~~
We seek
for
Wisdom
Embracing
rules;
~
And then
we
pray
They’ll
get us
through.
~~
We seek for
Romance
Passion
too;
~
We crave to
sense
The world
anew.
~~
We seek to solve
the hurt
and
fear;
~
In our
Calm
Resolve
It
finds
us
there.
~~~
Is that you in the photograph, Robyn? The poem is so profound and moving – the pain and hope and love is so evident between the lines. I wish, I wish, I wish…. Sending love, Juliexx
August 30, 2012 at 10:38 PM
No – not me holding the surf board silly Julie 😉 I was watching her walking up and down the beach scouting out the best surfing turf (was last month) — and all I could think of was this theme ‘Seeking’. Took a few shots of this unknowing young woman!! Didn’t write the poem till late this afternoon… in my state of pondering life. Thank you! Yes — we will wish — and that resolve will come eventually ~ So love u! ~R
Thank you so much Cat~ Yes — it’s always ‘right there’ — but sometimes doesn’t feel/seem to be. Getting to that ‘calm resolve place’ where we see it all more clearly. So thrilled you enjoyed — and sensed the lavender here 🙂 Looks like the sky is going toward light purple up top!! xo Much Love dear one ~
August 30, 2012 at 11:41 PM
Thank you so much Jane – yes – it does come — in our’ calm resolve’, it’s simply IS without the ‘seeking’ — Amazing to contemplate – and yes – I will keep believing — You too my friend ~ much Love, R
August 31, 2012 at 1:05 AM
Such lovely composition and subjects in your image Robyn! For me, the search for many things I am looking for is far more satisfying than actually finding them (not all, but a few!) It is the journey that really appeals to me. This journey into blogging and photography has led me to such treasures as you and you work. Excellent work as always Robyn! And since it is wine night…here’s to you, and hoping your journey in life leads you to everything your seeking and that each of them deeply move and embrace you, as you and your work have done to so many of us. oh, and another toast to the Finale…yet another amazing body of work.
August 31, 2012 at 12:02 AM
Thank you so much dearest Stan– so appreciate your thoughts on my work always. Yes – “satisfaction in the journey” ~ this is very important and takes all the ‘resistance factor’ out of the “seeking” ~ allows us to move through life with greater ease and grace and with that ‘calm resolve’ I mention above : ). I am so happy to know you ‘go with the flow’ this way. I agree… the creative endeavors (blogging/artistry/) along with meaningful relationships/ connections, much like the ones we have discovered here through blogging make the journey even more glorious. Of course a few glasses of great wine on a Thursday night just brings us a little big closer to that wonderful calm place where seeking is not even part of the picture 🙂 — so I will toast to you (virtually), as you continue on your lovely journey my friend. So happy to have met you here…and may all of life’s blessings pave the exciting road you travel x Robyn
Your words and photos always match so perfectly… and this poem is absolutely beautiful… I keep running out of words of praise for your poems… you are so talented… I hope you put all of these together with the photos into a book and offer them up for sale… maybe the words on top of the photos… it will be a best seller…I’d buy it for sure…
August 31, 2012 at 12:32 AM
So glad you liked it bulldog , Thank you! — always hoping you will enjoy my latest creations! OK, I may consider a novelty book of some sort — would be a fun project. I wonder how many entries would be ideal for a coffee table edition? You can be my advisor! 🙂 Also always wonder if the poem should come first or the photo – and have mixed it up based on the content here thus far – but for consistency — you think the poem first works best? If I do an 8×10 kind of thing – guess can have photo on one side and poem on the other too? Maybe a winter project. You are such a loyal fan bd – and I know if I don’t go to sleep now I will get a virtual scolding from you any minute – so with that I bid you a good night dear friend!! xo
August 31, 2012 at 11:41 AM
Ah … Robyn .. You are so tiresome .. In a stingy way ,.. You provoke deep emotions that naturally hides under heeps of forgetfullness, neglect and evasiveness .. Your gentle rain drops touch our raw lives and wakes us up on old new feelings and warmths .. I started to develop a scheme for reading your posts .. First I would look at the picture … Smile .. What is my friend up to now ?!! .. Make my guess .. Creep under your poem .. And slowly enjoy the gentle hopping between the stones in your little river … The way you break the lines and shorten your pace is so special … Then i will have a rest with warm smile in my heart and I savor that for a long long while … I wonder about my heart and feel the echoes resonating …
Finally , another day mostly I revisit the photo and poem for a learning session .. In photography, like in this pictures, all the rules are broken .. But who cares .. You set your rules..because you take pictures with your heart , and thats where it goes … The lady is caught in the perfect anonymous beautiful pose .. The loneliness evoked by putting her in the dead center with the vastness of the sea, sand, sky and the emptiness is false … She is already busy in her mind..seeking..accompanied by her -close by- shadow, surfing board and a warm jacket … Still the ultimate joy is sharing this love with someone … Life is never complete without sharing ..
Wonderful composition .. Robyn , you may not delibrate into this as much as i do , because you have talent, love and pain all mixed up in one beautiful soul .. Thank god for the internet to let us touch that ……….. Was that too much … One last question .. And I hate to ask about poems , but the question is hanging is my mind like a thorn ..who is “it”in “it finds us there” ….
August 31, 2012 at 3:44 AM
Wow Tarek – such a joy to read your comment, which feels almost like a live conversation today! I truly appreciate the time and thought you exercised here in communicating your own perspective and experience in reading my work. I love that you are sensitive and can feel a lot of what I unconsciously do here that as you say — is mostly all from the direction of my heart, as that is the only way I know:) Rules, well — one day I’ll learn them, but for now — it’s mostly just my ‘healing lens’ I follow. Wonderful interpretation of the image of this anonymous subject too.
Finally, to answer your question, as would not want to keep you wondering…in the final line I refer to “it” (‘it finds us there’) referencing all that which we are ‘seeking’ in our human existence. So we find “it” in that quiet place, that stillness, that place of peace and resolve….really ‘it’ lies in the place we are *no longer seeking* … for we are content just to ‘be’ . Ahhhh….now how to get there…. ?? That I suppose is another poem ~ or just the experience itself that each of us must discover in our own unique way.
Your open heart is delightful to know Tarek…always nurture it, and may love and peace… may that calm resolve, find you there.
~ Robyn
Beautiful poetry. seeking everywhere….but we find it “there”, it speaks volumes,, I love it, You also show such beautiful appreciation of our seeking itself, the journey; it is so beautiful and remarkable, thank you for a wondrous post, Love, love, to you from Linda
August 31, 2012 at 5:22 AM
Yes Linda ~ EXACTLY! It is not until we can arrive at that place of inner-stillness, calm resolve that we can find all of that which we seek. Why your work is very important — it is instrumental in allowing the reader to go inside and find that place…where resistance can subside, and seeking is really not necessary at all… as isn’t all we want and need right there within us? And then the journey becomes joyful and easy — flowing and free. Very grateful for your thoughts on this ~ always appreciate you! Much Love to you, Robyn
August 31, 2012 at 12:26 PM
As beautiful as ever Robyn. I think, in fact, I know we are at the same place at the moment, not only physically but emotionally too because every single word you have written here is something I can fully relate to, and yes we can find it all in our ‘calm resolve’ thank you for this great piece of work and your continued strength.x
August 31, 2012 at 6:59 AM
Thanks so much dear Chris. Yes — I knew this might resonate with you too. I think having the physical pain leads us to really see through different eyes… observe the world in a way we might otherwise not be able. I know it’s in the ‘calm resolve’ that we do find it all… and I’m hoping it’s also there that the body follows the spirit in this regard. We will keep tapping in to this Chris… it’s all there waiting. Much Love to you friend , Robynx
Hope you have a great weekend, too. Be safe…. 🙂
September 1, 2012 at 1:04 AM
Wonderful poem, Robyn.
Have you always written poems? I see you as the young child sitting beside the sea writing and thinking.
August 31, 2012 at 8:20 PM
Thank you so much Victoria… it is actually funny that as a young girl I spent a lot of time up in my bedroom with my manual typewriter writing poetry and short stories (and decorating them with cut-outs from magazines and such) … but once I got to college level studies, I hardly dabbled in such, as I chose a major in marketing and business. I always was a strong creative and technical writer… so this is a blessing to be able to tap into that passion again. I did not live close enough to the sea (as I do now) to spend childhood days at the beach with my pen…. but always dreamed of living near the beach — and am so lucky to have found a home here these past 20 years. So appreciate your thoughtfulness always xo Robyn
August 31, 2012 at 9:28 PM
You are a talented poet ma’am ~ my hat is off to you
August 31, 2012 at 8:26 PM
So flattered by your touching comment Polly! Thank you so much. You know I never had the slightest inkling that I would be writing poetry when I start this blog, mainly to express myself through photography. I was just saying to Victoria in my response above, that as a child I did this kind of thing… and so grateful that the blogging has stirred up the passion again, and am able to share my heart this way here. I am so thrilled you enjoy my poetry– means a lot to me! ~ Much Love, Robyn
August 31, 2012 at 9:31 PM
This was just so stunning! I always know when I come visit you my breath will be taken from me and I will have yet to search for more amazing adjectives to describe your beautiful inspirational work!!! 😀 I just love your words…everytime straight from your heart and shared with us here. I am grateful for you dearest friend!!! Together…we all seek! 🙂 Sending you so so much love and healing energy!!! xoxoxoxo!!
P.S. Thank you so much for your amazing praise at Neil’s place…. 😀 Felt kind of weird responding over there though haha….just wanted to say thank you so so much!!!! 🙂 ♥♥♥♥ !!!
August 31, 2012 at 11:03 PM
Thank you so much Christina! I wrote this one quickly ~ unplanned actually — photo I’d had and was not exactly how or if I’d use. Funny how things come to us when we are in the midst of navigating our own lives sometimes. I was looking for that place of ‘calm resolve’ ~ and thus the ending of the poem. Not sure I’m there yet – but working on it. Oh yes – your reading at Neil’s place — incredible and was so fun to hear your voice recording – now really feel like i know you forever!! xo Much Love! RL
September 1, 2012 at 12:36 PM
Navigating to the place of calm resolve….yes I totally get that!!! I love how ‘things’ come in without warning and just sync!! Like your photo and poem…just inspiring 😀 You’ve said it to me before and I totally took it to heart….about sending things out into the universe and magic happens. I see so much magic for you!!!
LOL actually while I was totally and completely nervous, it was a BLAST to do that audio. I just absolutely love his work and so it was just an amazing new experience!! Really amazing! 😀 I guess everyone knows my voice now lol :p But am most glad to share it with you dearest friend!! Sending so so much love and wishes that you reach your calm resolve ♥♥♥♥ !!! Hugs & Love ~
August 31, 2012 at 11:13 PM
So very welcome Lady Day~ and thank you for your loving presence here always. Very glad this spoke to you… xo Much Love ~ RL xo
September 1, 2012 at 12:38 PM
Robyn, the connection between the poem and your lovely photograph of the girl captured heading out to the ocean is made brilliantly. Your poem is of a quality that lends itself to being introspective as a viewer. One can’t help but relate to your poetic words and their meanings. Exceedingly well done, my friend.
August 31, 2012 at 11:21 PM
Thank you so much Penny. It was an interesting combination for me, did not have an agenda and just wrote it very quickly – I’m sure from some place in side me that is realizing I need to find the “calm resolve” and all this seeking stuff is overrated 🙂 Though, I see interpretations have been varied as you say – the reader’s own introspection will determine that. I am so glad you enjoyed ~ and it spoke to you too…. Much Love your way dear friend xo Robyn
September 1, 2012 at 12:44 PM
You know Robyn, you are truly truly gifted on a level that I find hard to compare. Rather than enumerate on each I will do a summing up here by saying that I am your biggest fan. I’ve known pain intimately (physical/mental/emotional-years of, where I wanted to curl up and die and I think but for my young children and a respect/love of life I would have) having said that I understand somewhat, what you must face daily. You face each day (from the perspective of what we – your followers – read and view) with great strength and passion, inspite of your struggles, caring in your comments and brilliant in your artistry. I for one applaud you with all my heart, with most sincerely love to you ~ Penny
September 1, 2012 at 2:07 PM
Gosh Penny ~ I’m so touched by your words. Means a lot coming from you who has overcome such adversity and pain yourself too… I do know what you mean about respect and love of life — can so relate to that… yet sometimes it’s impossible not question what my limits may be. I keep trying to face each day ‘anew’ – and hope that one day it will prove to be just this. Thank you Penny from my deepest heart – you are such a source of encouragement and support here… for me and so many others. I do appreciate your praise and love ~ xo
September 1, 2012 at 8:28 PM
Your welcome Robyn, you have touched my heart and my words were sincere. Sleep well tonight, I hope your holiday weekend is a good one for you and your family, my love to you sweet friend, xo
September 1, 2012 at 10:36 PM
Wow, Robyn. This so much relates to my last post. Universal connection, I guess.
We do seek for everything, and your words are contemplative. Your pictures breathe even more. 🙂
September 1, 2012 at 12:55 PM
Yes Pawan – It did strike me too ~ there must be a collective like-mindedness permeating our little blogging community here 🙂 I am so happy you enjoyed and could contemplate with me here ~ Thank you dear one! ~Robyn
September 1, 2012 at 8:56 PM
Dear Robyn, I’m not sure which took away my breath first–your glorious image or the culminating line of your poem. What a wonderful thing to endeavor every day to remember–that all that we seek is already there. Thank you, dear friend, for such an exquisite reminder.
My goodness, you are talented, Robyn! I can’t believe all the beauty I’ve been missing the last few months (as I’ve been insanely absent from the blogosphere!) Your writing, your photography, is breathless joy and depth and wonder. I thought you were brilliant when I first read your blog, and now I know it. I need to get back on here more often, for a daily dose of wonder.
Be well, my friend -Susie
September 1, 2012 at 10:32 PM
Aww, thank you so much Susie ~ have missed you and hope all is well by you. Yes – have ventured into some writing therapy here… 🙂 Have not been out taking as many photos, so this was a way to keep creativity flowing. I’ve always enjoyed it (though did not plan when I began to blog)… was encouraged by a fellow-blogger actually !! So happy you enjoyed and very much appreciate your thoughtful and warm words.. So glad to know you are back in the blogsphere!! xxoo Blessings and Love ~ Robyn
Your healing lens has soothed me many times in may ways. Today I am grateful that I have found some of the things we all search for that you have mentioned in your eloquent poem. Hey, I’ve found you, and that rocks!
September 2, 2012 at 11:40 AM
Resa – warms my heart to know that … just even in the smallest way, if this healing lens can touch others I’m go grateful. And also so grateful to know such a beautiful soul as you ~ so we both ROCK!! Thank you dear friend ~ xxoo 🙂 R
gorgeous poetry…helped me to feel less alone and more connected to the human condition…….passion…..youth…..joy…… Said so well. So glad to call you my sea sister! You’re super-d-duper. And the photo is lovely, as well. Like the sand and the woman’s posture. much love to you.
September 2, 2012 at 6:25 PM
Thank you soooo much Sam!! Yes — I think we are all connected to the theme this embodies. Never alone — you have a sea-sis member?? 🙂 All this seeking though — it’s when we let this stuff find US that we are golden ~ yes? Yes – this poor woman has no idea she is a “rock star” here on my blog hee hee! Couldn’t’ have posed someone better for the image though — candids are the best ~ Much Love back xo Robyn
Wow!!! I am so impressed, yet not surprised… Your words reached out and touched my soul… Thank you! 🙂
April 22, 2013 at 8:43 PM
So happy this resonated with you sm. Your wonderful post just brought me back to this, and again left me contemplating the “seeking” so many of us experience in our efforts to understand ourselves, and what this journey through life is all about. I think so much of being content is about self-love… Seems all the other ‘good stuff’ tends to manifest after we master this part 🙂 ~ at least in my humble opinion… Thank you again for your most generous words ~ Robyn
