I’d never thought to listen to a photo, Robyn. I just sat with it now, and found myself hearing the waves and the child’d laughter. It enhanced the experience of the photo. You’ve changed the way I’ll ever look at pictures and photos again. It’s added a whole new dimension to my life and senses. Thank you Robyn. This post is more profound because of your words, this time.
Thank you Yaz. It’s funny, I never thought to listen to a photo either — and then late last night I was debating a post for today and when I saw this — I could remember the laughter and sounds of the day I took it…(which was back in July). The notion occurred to me then and I decided to post. I am so glad to know image could be felt (heard) by you, and others too… Much Love Always~ Robyn
September 3, 2012 at 10:42 AM
nicely said a faint whisper of laughter is a good thing to hear
September 3, 2012 at 4:08 AM
Yes Bruce– was nice to remember in the quiet night ~ when the shot was over a month ago. So glad you enjoyed! Thank you kindly 🙂
What a wonderful post today… could hear every sound… even to the chuckle of the photographer,,, and I could see the smile on her face as well… you are so clever with words.. so few written but so much received in return…
September 3, 2012 at 4:22 AM
Thank you so much Bulldog! Had not plan for a post last night -but when I was looking though my stash of photos — this one just started making these soft giggles, and I could not resist sharing my experience. Yes – I had to smile too!! So glad you enjoyed my friend !! 🙂 xo R
September 3, 2012 at 10:47 AM
This is lovely, I can’t help but hear a little child playfully laughing with their father whilst looking at that photograph. What a great imagination you have to think of this.x
September 3, 2012 at 4:52 AM
Yay – so glad you can hear the laughter too Chris (thought it might just be me 🙂 ~ Was another very spontaneous post….after I’d vowed to take the long weekend off. The sound effects beckoned me ~ Thank you dear one ~R
September 3, 2012 at 10:49 AM

Thank you so much Lady Day ~ yes – one of those shots that speaks volumes. Enjoy it on the big screen too my dear friend ~ Much Love to you xxoo R
September 3, 2012 at 10:50 AM
So true, Dearest Robyn…not only that but It gave me the most warm inner smile and even ‘chills’ from the beauty and love in the photo. Oh, I heard so much more than laughter from this one Robyn…I heard love, I heard Life..I heard ‘every good thing’!! with all love to you, Linda
September 3, 2012 at 7:00 AM
So wonderful to know that Linda! Yes — there is much to feel and ‘hear’ from an image like this. I was lucky to capture the moment quite randomly one day ~ and blessed that it spoke to me in the quiet night yesterday. Thrilled it touched you as well! Much Love dear one xo R
September 3, 2012 at 10:53 AM
A great shot of a family having fun. I wish I could see more of the woman, but the most important part of the photo is the swinging child anyway. Great capture.
September 3, 2012 at 7:41 AM
Thank you Jeff! Yes – I too wished there was more of the “mom” visible – but I’m lucky I caught this shot as it was completely unplanned…heard the giggles and turned around quickly ~ so no strategy at as they ran away in glee 😉 Yes – the swinging child — I could only think “weeee” !!! So happy you enjoyed! ~R 🙂
September 3, 2012 at 10:56 AM
The photo is amazing … Reading the photo: the sharpness, exposure and composition are flawless, the flow of motion is to the right towards the partially seen house, this leave the house on the left with a mystic mood which is intensified with this weired clouds arrangment above it compared to the right side .. The time of the day with directional light is perfect for the mood.. The monotone choice is excellent to focus the eye on the mood … Listening to the photo: I can definetly hear joy … Feeling the photo : I am equally infected with joy … Tasting it : a bit salty 8) … Brilliant work RL
NB, is this a different camera or lense …
September 3, 2012 at 7:59 AM
Hope not too salty for your taste Tarek 🙂 LOL! Thank you sooooooo much dear friend for the wonderful input (photographically, and emotionally too) . You know I am just following the direction of my “healing lens” ~ so I always appreciate critique with regard to the technical details. This was such an unplanned shot — Heard the laughter and giggles and turned around quite quickly with my i phone (last month). So happy to be able to share it now …. as I realized last night what a special moment I’d unknowingly captured.
Yes – was a great time of day ( early evening)… always seems to be the most intriguing light quality outdoors. I am so happy you could hear and feel the the joy. This was all that I could think of when I was focussing on it last night… and then it occurred to me that images do have sound effects 🙂 No different camera or lens here — but I believe I was low to the ground again so likely on an angle looking upward ~ Always appreciate you & Much Love your ways today ~ x RL

September 3, 2012 at 10:19 AM
Thank you so much Meryl ~ was a very random shot back in July. I revisited it yesterday and it was “audible” so figured a sign that I needed to post it with these words. Miss the beach ~ hope was glorious yesterday… been over a month since I’ve visited unfortunately… lucky I have my photos to reflect 🙂 xxoo

Sip my laughter through your eyes
Let the soul be a glass filled with
wine of joy and beauty …..
Revel in the shadow grass
when ripples tickle the cockles
of heart , deep within …
Enjoy the moment …
That defines you and me …
Celebration of existence
is the biggest festival in the lands of nirvana.

Hi Robyn, has your week started out well for you? Your photograph (beautiful of course lol) speaks loudly. I love when that happens. One can hear the ocean in the background, the giggles, the laughter, the love, the ambience of the whole! Delightfully sensual my friend, in precisely the best way, warm thoughts of love to you this day my friend, Penny xo
September 4, 2012 at 1:48 PM
Thank you dear Penny… glad you enjoyed and could hear the photo as I did 🙂 Yes – sensual – I actually did think about that as I posted…and all the wonderfu lessons you are teaching on your blog… having some new challenges here — mystery nerve pain — effecting my foot rather severely — will be one week tomorrow – I may need to slow down my pace even more here in the blogsphere 😦 Hopefully will resolve and I’ll be back to baseline – but a bit disconcerting (and keeping me awake)… Sending love my dear friend ~ know you are in my heart… xo
September 4, 2012 at 7:07 PM
Robyn, I am so very sorry to hear about this new “mystery pain”, take care of you my dear friend, perhaps tonight while you soak, some soothing music, I will send strong supportive thoughts of healing (your never know) your way starting right now, I do hope the pain resolves itself soonest for you. I’m guessing it’s more than just a bit ‘disconcerting’ (as you refer to it) Robyn. I am wishful for you to have a good nights sleep this night and your dreams be soothingly sweet filled with laughter and joy. sending much love your way Robyn, xoxo ~ Penny

September 5, 2012 at 12:02 AM
Wonderful post, Robyn.
Photos speak to me all the time.
They ‘speak’ with both vision & sound.
But then, so does real life, even when no sound is made, life speaks.
September 5, 2012 at 1:34 AM
So true Victoria – knew you would appreciate the statement… and learning how photography can capture the essence of life this way ~ such a magnificent thing. xo

Such a magical way of bringing life and harmony to our senses…There is so much deep truth in your message here…the gift of our inner being, can recall sounds, and experience sounds, smells, touch when we engage in our memories, and photos allow us to be able to soak up the memory into our eyes and be again in a moment or be a part of someone else’s moment…
You are a treasure, Robyn.
Blessings on your evening and always, Erin
September 6, 2012 at 10:42 PM
Thank you so much dear Erin — You are incredibly gifted my friend — just your insight on this post ~ amazing. Yes – I love that you mentioned the role of our ‘inner being’ – we may not even be aware that we have these sparks within – and than a photo (or can also be music, smell, taste etc) sort of calls them into conscious awareness… and that such magic in and of itself. I am so happy you enjoyed this – and as always — so appreciate your wisdom and warmth… Much Love and Blessings ~ Robyn
September 6, 2012 at 11:15 PM
I love your words … as soon as I read this, I could hear the echos of children’s giggles from years long past … love, “listening to photographs”, remembering heart sounds … thank you so much for the peaceful interlude my heart craved today …. and as always, sending healing thoughts and prayers, and much love your way, my friend. ~ Love, Julie xoxox
