  3. Beautiful! It made me think, am I waiting to shine? The answer is no. I’m not waiting for anything, just living and loving every day.

    August 12, 2012 at 12:01 AM

    • Thanks so much 8teen39! I say if the answer is no — you are ALREADY SHINING ~ and for that I am thrilled for you 🙂 Keep living & loving …it’s really the way! ~ Best, Robyn

  6. lovely:) the same can also be said of Lotus in the water.. perhaps..

    August 12, 2012 at 12:15 AM

    • Thank you nightlake… yes – the water lily is actually simlar to the lotus flower too… main difference seems to be lotus comes from the east and the flower leaves are more elevated (further from the water)… but many similarities too! So happy you liked it!xo

  7. Julie Catherine

Oh Robyn, YES! This was so worth “waiting” for – and it’s as perfect as I knew it would be! The water lily is such a combination of fragility and strength – it has a “solidness” to it in the large, flat leaves and enduring roots that embed themselves firmly in the fluidity of water … and yet, the blooms are fragile, vulnerable in their own way …. your poem is exquisite, and as deep as the mystery of the water lily. Sharing on facebook and twitter! Love this! ~ Much love and hugs, Julie 🙂 xoxox

    August 12, 2012 at 12:15 AM

    • Wow Julie – thrilled you enjoyed!! It was timely for a few of my blog friends tonight I’ve discoverd…. and so happy when that happens! You are so correct – a very special flower… working its way up into the light through the murky darkness of the pond — and as you said the contrast between the strong roots and solid leaves and the delicate fragile blooms…Also happy you liked my simple (yet deep) poem …and loved your drawing a parallel between the poem and the flower itself 🙂 Gratitude for sharing, and your thoughtful comment. Much Love to you dear one ~Robyn

  10. Robyn, my dear I can feel the energy and excitement of Emerging throughout your words and rising from the photo. Emerge is another of those “powerful” words. I love it and really enjoyed it as a theme…..it feels like it is buzzing in the airs somehow, Love to you, Your friend, Linda

    August 12, 2012 at 1:56 AM

    • Thanks you so much Linda! Very pleased it generated a good energy ~ to emerge is exciting… and the water lilly, that arises from the darkest waters, is an example that it is possible no matter what. Much Love dear friend ~Robyn

    August 12, 2012 at 2:59 AM

    • So much thought of you Christina…. to consider the murky dark waters that gorgeous little flower had to navigate before emerging into the most vibrant light of sun. Your story is a perfect example of how this miracle can occur. Love and Hugs and heartfelt wished for you as you blossom and emerge my friend ~ Truly, Robyn

      August 12, 2012 at 11:46 AM

  13. Lovely Robyn! Now you just need to get right in there with them 😉

And if getting wet and muddy isn’t enticement enough, if you hold the camera steady enough, and you are looking into a flower that isn’t fully open yet, you can actually watch the stamen moving as they open.

Yea, I see all the cool stuff like that, but after 4 1/2 years since I first picked up a camera, photographing a LOT of waterlilies along the way, I still can’t tell you what a “fragrant water lily” smells like 😀

    August 12, 2012 at 5:56 AM

    • LOL~ Yes Jeff – It is on my bucket list — I will brave the lily pond one day for sure…. and see what kind of close-up I can achieve. Wow it must be amazing to watch them open and witness the stamen moving … like watching a true ‘birth’ of sorts…. Now the real goal for you is to report back to me what one of these water lilies smells like ~ Can’t wait to know ! Thank you tons Jeff ~ Enjoy the day ! 🙂 Robyn

      August 12, 2012 at 11:50 AM

    • Jeff…just found this tidbit — may take the lore out of wanting to smell one of these beauties — but thought I’d warn you nevertheless 🙂 :
“In Europe, the common white water lily, the one painted by Monet, is nympha alba while in North America, we’re more familiar with nuphar lutea, the yellow water lilies, also called spatterdocks or cow lilies. The English sometimes call the plant “brandy bottle” because the flowers smell like stale wine which attracts flies, the pollinators for the plant.”

Perhaps the various colors and varieties all have different scents though?? 🙂 ~R

      August 12, 2012 at 12:34 PM

      • I still have to know for sure, I may regret it, but I WILL smell one the next time.

    • Exactly Cat — that is how I saw it!! I think the beautiful water lily was ALREADY that beautiful water lily,
but had to be ready … prepared…wanting

to take that plunge through the dark muddy waters
      and chose to
step up to the surface – into the light.

It’s an exciting concept/metaphor for many to ponder….

Sending Love to you sweet friend ~ RL

  18. You do this so well, a photo and words to go with it…and then I re read the words and I’m waiting to emerge, from the depths of winter into summer, like the lily the time must be right… I only wish I was as beautiful as the lily…
I’m at a loss for words to explain how I feel… your words are so few, yet say so much… why can I not do this… It’s almost as though there’s a message there for me, yet the message I get and what Linda (my wife) gets, are different… how do you do that??? so deep…

    August 12, 2012 at 9:44 AM

    • Thank you dear bulldog… you are as beautiful as the lily – I am completely sure of this…. and your summer will come too! So grateful for your thoughtful comment ~ I do think you have an inner-poet lurking as well (have told you before) … he may just need to become “ready” before you allow him to ’emerge’ into the light 🙂 I sense a new blog may be in your future too 🙂 Ok – I’m not really psychic – but you never do know.

Thank you sweet friend. I appreciate ~ and love and thanks to your wonderful wife Linda too for taking to read my posts — Blessings always ~RL

      August 12, 2012 at 12:04 PM

  19. This really hits home for me Robyn. Last year I realized I was “waiting” and had been waiting for a long time, hiding my light under a bush to accommodate every one but myself. For me, these words are an affirmation and it’s a beautiful one at that. Thank you for the gift of you! xoxox

    August 12, 2012 at 10:38 AM

    • Thank you Jeannie, so wonderful to know that the post was self-affirming for you. I think the message resonates for so many…. so easy to hide from the light for so many reasons. I am thrilled you had this revelation for yourself and know you will allow your own light to shine brilliantly and beautifully. You are the gift Jeannie xxoo R

    August 12, 2012 at 10:45 AM

    • Thanks so much Yaz. I am so glad it resonated with you… one of those truths that sometimes we just don’t give enough focus…. always whole – always perfect …. just waiting to be ready, and allowing ‘true-self ‘ to emerge. Very happy I had this lily image to remind me ~ xo

        August 12, 2012 at 12:41 PM
