The fire has some special magic for us. Our ancestors enjoyed with fire. Still in our genetic fire primitive perhaps, but magic.

I do feel that way about fire Carlos. Very spiritual and yes, magic. I suppose there is good reason that candles are lit for so many religious ceremonies. Thank you for your wonderful comments! Adios mi amigo!

Fire’s also spirit, a symbol and actual entity in some beliefs for spirit to renew, rejoice, feel blessed, and be lit with grace and wonder, a comfort and light for what’s not obvious but necessary

It’s no wonder I look to fire for comfort Dean. Thank you for your insightful comment tonight.

I can feel the stress melting away like wax within that flame…such a photo of peace…love it Robyn

Thanks David. It’s another ‘natural sedation tool’ for me. The candle is beeswax so no synthetics here:). Glad you enjoyed the post:)

There IS something calming and relaxing about candles that I just love. I can see where it would be helpful to stare at it to help with pain. It kind of reminds me of women in labor using a favorite object to concentrate on when a labor pain hits. Very pretty picture Robyn…and I really like the verse you wrote to go with it. xox

Thanks so much dear Jeannie! Yes – getting lost in the glowing flame of a candle is a great way to become “sedated” without meds! The one in the photo is made of pure beeswax, and I have come to appreciate this type as a form of connection to the natural world in a small way too:) I am glad you enjoyed the image along with the short verse above it. This one held some emotion for me when I created it ;). Sending good thoughts your way today!!

Love this Robyn, I can smell the beeswax, is there a more peaceful thing? Just lovely. ~R

So appreciate R (Lady Day ~ RL right?) The beeswax actually has little smell – but there is something very raw and beautiful about the way it burns… and it lasts for eternity it seems … very slow burning. As you say extremely peaceful 🙂 I am sooo glad you enjoyed this. RL

hmmm, we used to buy fresh beesax candles at the farmers market, they were so fresh the beeswax smelled quite strongly…so for me, lol, I can smell the beeswax. And yes ~R, ~RL, ~Lady Day…all the same…lol long story
May 23, 2012 at 12:18 PM
Well now RL (Lady Day) you have got me curious…I may have to burn my candle by day today – just to smell for a scent 😉 Perhaps there are different varieties? I need to get some more as I’ve decided that I no longer want to burn synthetics … will do some research. One day we will have a virtual cup of tea and you will tell me about your new identity ~ yes? Sending good thoughts your way today!!!
May 23, 2012 at 12:22 PM
lol…not a new identity, just a name gifted to me, and since I do not like my own, I claimed it. Virtual tea…almost as good as the real thing. Hope you are well as can be this day Robyn

Very calming. There is something enticing and freeing when we experience the ‘magic’ of candle-light–and you share it so eloquently. I also experience the flame as having a spiritual meaning—it provides transformation and healing through its very nature. May the healing light that you enjoy, continue to bring you the peace you search for. Blessings, Erin

Thanks so much for that Erin. I so appreciate. Yes – I am getting very attached to my candles ~ agree that there is a spiritual power there, and very attracted to the flame. Gratitude for your healing wishes my way… Much Love ~
