  1. The words and the photograph are such a perfect match. Your poetry is so bittersweet adn so musical.

    • Thank you so much Julie, so thrilled you enjoyed. Interesting…you are not the first who told me my writing has ‘musical’ quality~ I have an uncle who was a song writer and broadway musician/vocalist ~ perhaps a gene?! Very flattered ~ and now off to try to get some rest ~ will be away for the week – early flight tomorrow ~ xo Much Love RL

  2. Lovely Robyn, it is beautifully poetic but also a matrix isn’t it? So many interconnections. You define things that delineate but also those that overlap. So cleverly done from the perspective of the soul. I love it. The photograph sets the stage and wraps it all together also! Perfect my most special friend, xoxo

  7. When I think of divide the political nature of our society comes to mind in that on most issues this is a 48% to 48% with that small undecided bit on almost all issues. I find that puzzlingly remarkable.

    November 6, 2012 at 5:06 AM

    • Hi Carl.. funny that I was not in the headset of politic when I wrote this, but it did occur to me right before I published that there is an application here for our upcoming election. Yes ~ where is that 4% hiding ~ maybe UNDER the FENCE!! 🙂 Here is hoping whoever gets elected is the best pick to get this country sorted out ~ Thank you for being here ~ Much Love ~R

    November 6, 2012 at 5:53 AM

    • Thank you Linda ~ so appreciate your lovely words. Yes — I agree … to move beyond the barriers and embrace the Love ~ the healing ~ The dissolution of all that which “divides” . A call for Oneness and harmony … in water and moonbeams ~ this is my vision. Love you always ~ Robyn

    If only you could draw
    a heart’s shape instead of a divider
I would love to tread your line.
    We shall sip one moonshine
    One sunbeam and one dream
at the end of the the rainbow…
    We could sow smiles
    in the crust of time
    To reap ripe dreams
    for generations to come.
    If only ….

    November 6, 2012 at 11:53 PM

    • Very Lovely Nika! You are right ~ if all the lines that divide could only melt away ~ with only “heart ” left to define ….what a wonderful world it would be for the generations yet to come…. I agree my friend ~ Sending good thoughts, bleesings and love ~ Robyn

  13. Learning so much now Robin and this fits so well into the scheme of things, with the sun catching the fence and making it something other than a barricade, it’s a point of meeting. Thank you, thank you, thank you.. Have a good flight to Boston and back. jane 🙂

    November 7, 2012 at 6:00 AM

    • YES Jane. you are onto something big time! When I wrote this — I was trying to build something into the context about ” Those spaces inbetween the ‘slats’ in this fence ~ It is within those spaces, where the rays of sunlight can pierce through ~ where we can see clearly the other side…. It is not a barricade!!! This for me symbolic of hope – vision ~ open heartedness…. it’s all the spaces inbetween! And yes — I see the “point of meeting” you astutely pointed out … Love that ~ the strong connection between the 2 branches of fence — joining in center to create one…

Greetings from Boston ~ I did really well on the flight yesterday, thankfully … will be here till Friday. Much Love to you friend~ RL

      November 7, 2012 at 9:02 AM

      • I am praying for you, affirming your health and all that is good.:) Jane

Borders define us and divide us… Lovely poem dear.

    November 7, 2012 at 8:00 AM

    • Thank you Suri ~ so true what you say.. and to soften those borders, see between the lines. — freeing it would be in so many ways… Blessings and Love dearest friend ~ Robyn

  15. Robert Gregory

Someone commented “bittersweet”. I agree, but more sweet than bitter, in my opinion. Makes me think of a person I met a few weeks ago, actually. And the fact that her and I could go somewhere, turn into something… 🙂 …It really is lovely. And the picture of the beach fence, I’ve always loved those fences for some reason. They’re elegant in their simplicity. And, probably because I love the magical and mystical I feel at the beach, and that’s the one place you’ll find the beauty of those particular fences, I think.

    November 7, 2012 at 1:19 PM

    • Thanks so much Robert ~ I am so glad you were able to take something from this, and find meaning in your own experience with it. Yes I agree, something about those wooden beach fences. Maybe it is because the beach is such a place of frreedom and magic, that even the most ‘subtle’ of barriers lends a flare of ‘surreal’ ….. Sending lots of good thoughts your way today ~ RL

  16. Lines can also serve as order, clarity, a hug, a kiss, and a direct route to someone’s heart. We set to many borders to protest ourselves and not enough to connect ourselves. Why are we so afraid of pain not yet experienced, why do we hold back on a passion that already exist???? Let’s indulge in each other and set the boundaries when they are absolutely necessary!!!!

  18. So many interpretations on this post AB ~ I know you did a post about a different kind of divider the other day ~ re: releationship. Yes –I agree – we create our own borders as protection at times ~ also to gaurd against fear of unknown, and fear of our own power. Thank you so much for your thoughts – always delightful to hear your perpsective. ~ Peace and Love ~ Robyn

  19. When I was much younger I was a master of building fences and walls to protect myself from further hurts. It was only when I found the courage to take down the fences and step across the imaginary lines did I find the world I truly wanted to live in. Such beauty and compassion lie there and my heart sang. This poem touched me deeply Robyn. Hope this day finds you well. 🙂

    November 8, 2012 at 12:08 PM

    • Oh LuAnn ~ that is beautiful… thank you for sharing this piece of your heart and soul with me. I am learning too. Sooo much better to live with heart doors wide open …. I have no doubt in my mind. There may be hurt and pain in removing those boundaries at times …but the Love and Energy that is allowed in …. well it’s what we were meant to experience. I truly believe this… and know if everyone could just strip down a few walls the entire planet would glow that much brighter. Sending you lots of love and gratitude for such a beautiful comment dear LuAnn ~ xo Robyn

  21. Borders and boundaries — do they really divide and separate? Or are they only “reasons”, giving us the courage to bring together “two halves of a one?”
Lovely poem. It has spoken to my soul in many different languages.
May your ink never run dry, dear Robyn.
    Love.

    November 8, 2012 at 8:03 PM

    • SF ~ thank you dear friend… this is a very profound insight… perhaps if there were no walls ~ we would not appreciate the beauty and intensity of ‘Oneness” when we experience it … the law of contrasts? Wonderful to hear your perspective and made me take pause ~ Appreciate your kind and lovely words today ~ Much Love ~R

  22. Maybe you decide to go, metaphorically, heart, eyes. But always in the right direction as you know it, because life always gives us opportunities and wisdom ..
    Carlos

    • Thank you Carlos ~ mi amigo ~ I look for that wisdom always, and embrace it at every opportunity I can …. Very wise you are. Gratitude and Love

  23. Robyn,

I have been “away.” But this weekend I am back. But before I resume my writing, I wanted to return to the great artists and writers I’ve come to know. To feel again their presence. So of course my journey brought me here.

I do not know how to tell you what it felt like to read your poem and experience your photographic artistry this afternoon, especially after these weeks away. I felt like I had come back to a place of sanctuary. Your exquisite artistry filled me with a sense of warmth and peace. I am so grateful to have this connection and so happy to be back.

    With love and gratitude,

    Tom

    • Tom ~ just incredibly touched by your comment today. I thank you dear friend – and am so glad to know you have returned, with what seems like a vibrant spirit and renewed passion for the writing and blogging. Knowing this home of mine can be a sanctuary for you and others is incredibly wonderful for me. Have missed you ~ and thrilled you are back ~ Much Love ~ Robyn

  24. Beautiful, Robyn! The words and photo are perfect companions.
I interpreted this in terms of health and felt this poem on such a personal level. There is such a clear dividing line right now between health issues and less debilitating days, less pain, independence, freedom, social contact, etc., etc. Hopefully the dividing line will become more and more vague. Wishing you answers and much healing for you. Hugs!

    November 11, 2012 at 12:58 AM

    • Thank you so much Fergie! Yes ~ I know what you mean about the ‘divide’ in this context ~ this piece had so many interpretations … but of course what you describe is so close to home for me too. Would be a dream to melt away that line as you say~ Sending much Love and healing hugs ~ Robyn
