I Must Flee
All alone in
my own
little
corner
All alone in
blog magic:
that’s
you
~
Lost in
flight
of your
words
~
With
a
vision
so
clear
~
Feel
your
touch
~
Taste
your
tears
~
All the love
that we
share;
~
But…
~
The clock,
it
strikes
twelve
~
And the
doorbell
rings
fear:
~
“ You must hurry”
they say,
“you must go,
you must
flee
~
For your
corner’s
not
safe
~
From
the
wrath
of
Sandy.”
© Robyn Lee
In the midst of my denial, while enjoying my
wonderful blog reads earlier today,
I was evacuated from my home
due to approaching Hurricane
Sandy.
Sandy, aka: Frankenstorm, is predicted
to be the most lethal hurricane
in U.S. history to hit this part
of the country.
As luck has it, my husband
is out of the state, and now
unable to obtain access to air
transportation given this
state of emergency.
I’m taking shelter with my
puppy now at a hotel location,
and hoping
the storm has mercy
on our area and
everyone stays
safe.
Will miss visiting everyone during our
impending power outages
but will be back
to “my own little corner”
to see you all as
soon as
possible.
~
With Much Love
~ Robyn Lee
Below I share lyrics from a special song,
In My Own Little Corner,
featured in
Rodgers and Hammerstien’s
Cinderella,
one of my most favorite
childhood films:
~~~
I’m as mild and as meek as a mouse
When I hear a command I obey.
But I know of a spot in my house
Where no one can stand
In my way.
~
In my own little corner
In my own little chair
I can be whatever I want to be.
On the wings of my fancy
I can fly anywhere
And the world will open
Its arms to me.
~
I’m a young Egyptian princess…
Or a milkmaid
I’m the greatest prima donna
in Milan
I’m an heiress who has always had
her silk made
By her own flock of silkworms
In Japan
~
I’m a girl men go mad for
Love’s a game I can play
With cool and confident kind of air.
Just as long as I stay in
My own little corner
All alone in my own
Little chair.
~
I can be whatever I want to be.
I’m a thief in Calcutta
I’m a queen in Peru.
I’m a mermaid dancing upon the sea
I’m a huntress on an African safari…
It’s a dangerous type of sport and yet it’s fun
In the night I sally forth to seek my quarry
And I find I forgot to bring my gun.
~~
I am lost in the jungle all alone and unarmed
When I meet a lioness in her lair
Then I’m glad to be back in
my own little corner,
All alone in my
Own
little chair.
Stay safe and report back as soon as possible!
October 29, 2012 at 1:06 AM
Love to witness a good storm…but hate to see the damage it could cause.
October 29, 2012 at 1:07 AM
It’s a different world these days though with smart phone and wi-fi access…never quite as “out of touch” as we used to be in such circumstances.
October 29, 2012 at 1:09 AM
So true ~ just when the power goes out ~ should be interesting… Here’s hoping it’s not as bad as predicted! xo
October 29, 2012 at 1:10 AM
The good thing is…it rarely is. And how much money do they make?
October 29, 2012 at 1:19 AM
It is a lovely as well as a sad post. Hope you’ll be safe. Do you reside in east coast?
October 29, 2012 at 2:25 AM
And the
doorbell
rings
fear:
That sounds scary … Wonderfully scary … And how surprising you so hastly you managed to create this safe heaven in you heart , well constructed, impearbiable and happy .. This is childhood memories coming to the rescure .. Stay safe dear friend andrayin for you return safely to your real corner , both unscratched …
October 29, 2012 at 3:02 AM
Yes Tarek ~ wonder-fully scary… so agree! And also agree that my post was my symbolic “safe-haven” during fearful moments last night… Always regress intone the corners of my imagination (just as I did as a young child) when endurance is called for… usually a rescue strategy that serves me. Thank you for your safety wishes dear friend… and will see you back in my little corner when I get there… 🙂 RL
October 29, 2012 at 1:49 PM
Oh God be with you and may all your possessions be saved from the impending storms… stay safe Robyn… and return unharmed… my thoughts will be with you… God Bless..
October 29, 2012 at 3:02 AM
Thank you bulldog ~ just glad I am away from the danger-zone – and hopefully safe here. Risk of power outage is great though ~ which should be interesting in a full-house hotel filled with grownups/children and doggies !! Grateful for your blessings dear friend ~ will report in when can…
A lovely post Robin, Loved the picture of your window and your desk, So glad you and your puppy are both safe and not alone toughing out the wild weather. What is you puppy, and how old is he? I’m a dog nut!
Happy returns to your home, and I hope no damage, and those lovely trees intact.
October 29, 2012 at 3:05 AM
Oh thank you dearest Valerie ~ I am so glad you enjoyed the post looking out my bedroom balcony doors. I took it well before I realized that I would have to “flee” ~ but was watching the branches of our weeping willow tree dance and sway, but hoped I could just escape into the blogshere rather than hurry to leave home. Rumi ~ my puppy — is actually 3 now! Wow ~ had to think about that! He is a combined breed called Miki… combo of Papillion, Maltise and Japanese Chin…. very very lovable. Thank you Valerie, for all your blessings ~ RL
November 4, 2012 at 9:13 PM
Hi Penny ~ thanks so much ~ have been a little nuts ~ aftermath/hurricane/evacuation… and also preparing to leave town this week for an important hip consult apt in Boston — and another storm is predicted!! Crazy ~ I am going to fly up early — hubby will meet me — but can’t get caught in weather chaos again. Haven’t been on plane in years ~ a bit anxious with pain and logistics of airport etc.. but think best plan. Feel see to email anytime ~ rls1231@aol …think you had mentioned wanting to ask question… hope I can help and so sorry not keeping up as well with blog and follows… will be nice when things mellow out here… xo Sending Love and hugs
November 5, 2012 at 12:13 AM
Thanks Robyn, think of us as your long distance support team. The best of luck traversing the airport and it’s various everythings, wish we were nearer to give you more hands on support, hope all goes well during and after the airplane travel. Best of luck with the appointment, no worries re: the question, not important. Christina sends her special love along with mine most dearest Robyn, please take care of you as best you can, you are definitely in our hearts and will be sending lots of positive energy your way daily. I will email, just to check up. Again all our love to you my Robyn, xxooxxooxx
November 5, 2012 at 12:31 AM
Beautiful, Robyn!
Things coming together at the right time to create the superstorm – hurricane and then the storms from the west that went over us a few days ago. It’s so horrible and tragic! I have a relative who lives in NYC.
Hoping you are staying safe from the storm! Sending hugs!
October 30, 2012 at 3:34 PM
Oh thank you so much for this Fergie! Yes ~ was quite an adventure and a bit frightening — happy to be past it…but hear another storm is on the way – just in time for me to travel for an important medical consult. I hope your relative in NY did ok ~ they were hit fairly hard! Sending lots of love your way ~ R
November 5, 2012 at 12:19 AM
One friend facing a Tsunami the other day and now another online friend facing a hurricane. I’ve missed so much while being offline for 10 days or so.
Hope all is well now and everyone is safe.
(I bought a little Mac pro laptop while my desktop computer is being repaired, but so slow for me as I don’t know much about using a laptop. Hope to work out how to edit a few photos & upload them over the coming week, Robyn. In the meantime, I as back to reading everyone’s news on their blogs which is good. V xox).
October 31, 2012 at 2:07 AM
Thank yo so much Victoria ~ Tsunami and Hurricane – wow… and we have another big storm ahead this next week (while I’m going out of town to consult with top Hip surgeon in Boston, MA) … Life is never dull… Mac pro is wonderful ~ that is what I use all the time!! I will get a desktop too at some point – but enjoy your new toy!! xo
November 5, 2012 at 12:17 AM
Thanks, Robyn,
my new ‘toy’ is proving to be all consuming and totally energy draining, but I’m making good progress so far.
Hope the appointment with the hip surgeon is positive and you find fine a way to move forward towards an improved health future.with less pain. I won’t say no pain – that is probably unrealistic.
But moving forward in baby steps is better than not being able to even ‘stand still’.
Sending Love & Healing energy across the miles.
Vicki
November 5, 2012 at 8:33 AM
Thanks Victoria ~ it takes a bit to adjust to a Mac if you used a PC before …but may pay off in the long-run. Love mine.
I do agree…baby steps are always welcomed here ~ progress is progress. Much Love ~ R
