October 18, 2012 at 11:27 AM
Felt with pleasure and credit goes to you 🙂
October 19, 2012 at 12:02 AM
Apart from the lovely simple sentiment, I like the way the short lines and short verses slows down the reading and the thoughts. Languid and coming to a full stop at the end of the pier and the blue horizon. Thanks for this.
October 18, 2012 at 3:01 AM
Paul – so appreciate your thoughtful words. Yes – somehow this style evolved for me (short lines/brief verses). You are the second reader who has commented on the effect it has re: slowing down the pace of thoughts. Perhaps that was my unconscious intention when gravitating to this style some months back… ? Languid is always good for me 😉 Very pleased you enjoyed the ‘whole’ of the post experience today and ultimately arrived at the end of the pier to join me there~ Warm wishes your way ~RL
October 18, 2012 at 11:33 AM

October 18, 2012 at 7:33 AM

The pier as metaphor for Grace… Just beautiful to contemplate that … where is your speech being presented? Will provide link to transcript or video to this here if you think appropriate ~ let me know! Thank you dear friend ~ Robyn

Lovely ! piers have a special allure for me. Brava. I reblogged this post. Never did it before… thank you, Robyn.
October 18, 2012 at 9:36 AM
Piers… yes – they are rather rich in symbolism aren’t they? Thank you Vera ~ and not to worry on the format thing… it is nothing that you did ~ the reblog feature on WP just seems to do this… and I see you directed your lovely readers here too – so they can see it in original design. You are a gem – love and appreciation ~ RL (as she waits on her pier) 🙂
October 18, 2012 at 11:11 AM
I learn from my mistakes…. next time I am not going to “reblog” but make a page that directs people to what I admire. Best! V.

~~~~
You’ll walk unscathed through musket fire
No ploughman’s blade will cut thee down
No cutlass wound will mark thy face
And you will be my ain true love
And you will be my ain true love
And as you walk through death’s dark veil
The cannon’s thunder can’t prevail
And those who hunt thee down will fail
And you will be my ain true love
And you will be my ain true love
Asleep inside the cannon’s mouth
The captain cries, ‘here comes the rout!’
They’ll seek to find me north and south
I’ve gone to find my ain true love
The field is cut and bleeds to red
The cannon balls fly ’round my head
The infirmary man may count me dead
When I’ve gone to find my ain true love
I’ve gone to find my ain true love
The way you wrote this … few words in a lingering, suspenseful pattern … heightened the effect of your words. Truly inviting and beautiful. Near the end, I had Neil Diamond’s words in my head from September Morn: “We danced until the night became a brand new day.”
October 18, 2012 at 5:04 PM
Tom – thank you so much. So thrilled you found there to be a type of suspense inherent in this piece. It really wrote itself and do think that was the feeling as I was creating it. Wanted it to be pure and simple – but also offer the reader a sense of involvement and shared emotion. Ahhh— Neil Diamond ~ September Morn … a classic beauty — will need to go listen on youtube right now! Appreciate your sharing, and sending good thoughts your way ~ RL
October 18, 2012 at 7:15 PM
Tom – for you ~ most lovely dear friend! Thank you 🙂
~~~~~~
Stay for just a while
Stay and let me look at you
It’s been so long, I hardly knew you
Standing in the door
Stay with me a while
I only wanna talk to you
We’ve traveled halfway ’round the world
To find ourselves again
September morn
We danced until the night
Became a brand new day
Two lovers playing scenes
From some romantic play
September morning
Still can make me feel that way
October 18, 2012 at 7:23 PM

October 19, 2012 at 3:03 AM
Aww Polly – you are too kind ! Thank you sweet friend 🙂 It is so funny – you are the 3rd person who has offered a song that came to mind after seeing this post…. will go find the lyrics as I did for the first two and put them up here too! Love to you ~ R
October 19, 2012 at 12:47 PM
For you Polly ~ 🙂
“Under The Boardwalk”
Oh, when the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof
And your shoes get so hot, you wish your tired feet were fireproof
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea
On a blanket with my baby is where I’ll be
(Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be havin’ some fun
(Under the boardwalk) People walking above
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be falling in love
Under the boardwalk, boardwalk
From the park you hear the happy sound of a carousel
Mmm, you can almost taste the hot dogs and French fries they sell
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I’ll be
(Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be havin’ some fun
(Under the boardwalk) People walking above
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be falling in love
Under the boardwalk, boardwalk
Oh, under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I’ll be
(Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be havin’ some fun
(Under the boardwalk) People walking above
(Under the boardwalk) We’ll be falling in love
Under the boardwalk, boardwalk

October 19, 2012 at 1:03 PM
Romantic….is that a guy you are wooing or poem about how you would want to be wooed? I would think a man would rather go to a sports event or stay home getting to know you….I would probably set that scene for a woman I was falling in love with. It was beautiful from one word to the next….You painted a picture that displays one night that would lead to forever!!!! I enjoy every syllable….
October 20, 2012 at 12:34 AM
Thank you AmazinglyBrash ~ laughing from your comment… as did not really have specific strategy on this “wooing business” 🙂 ~ Think was just visualizing a lovely scene ~ maybe “mutual wooing”?
So nice to hear that you would eagerly pursue a scenario like this for the woman of your dreams . Wonderful to know that romance is alive and well in the world after all! Thrilled you enjoyed, and so grateful for your delightful comment ~ Best , RL
October 20, 2012 at 1:02 AM
hahahaha….whether or not you understanding the wooing business, your visual is challenge “Us” (the reader) to start making it our business to woo.
Romantics are definitely alive and well….Just have to search in the right places to find them. Life has all types of scenarios: breaking up, making up, giving up, or fighting for forever. I am a fighter so I always shoot for forever and the only way to get to my destination is to keep love present by keeping romance in the presented. “if her smile doesn’t make you an addict to see it over and over again, then you need to set sail and find someone that does”!!!!
October 20, 2012 at 6:51 AM
Ahhh – “a call to woo” — I like that! 🙂 And may romance prevail… and may her smile ignite your soul forevermore…. Have a lovey day friend – RL

Let’s meet at the land’s end
taking no more space but an edge
enough to house our dreams
and sigh wrapped ambitions …
The eddying streams
Grateful for our sands
Shall mingle with the ocean
in a divine resonance
Meant only for you and me ….
There a flying seagul
shall shall take a cue from us
and aim for the bluest cloud…

This is really beautiful Robyn, it sounds like there is no better place than what you’ve described here and I love the photo too.
October 25, 2012 at 9:24 AM
Thanks so much dear Chris… we will get to that place ~ hang in k?! And to answer your question from your blog — I had a block meaning steroid inside the joint (under fouroscopic x ray) – they numbed out the inside of joint to see if I’d get immediate relief which I did not..and then put steroid in so perhaps in a few days that will kick in. Not a solution but more to see if the pain is from inside or out.. Keep me posted on you ~ xo RL
October 26, 2012 at 9:08 PM
Yes we WILL get to that place. Oh I see, is that the same as a cortisone injection? if so, when I had mine I was told if it didn’t relieve any pain which it didn’t then the joint is supposed to be ‘okay’ and the pain is meant to be from the muscles and tendons surrounding it. I’ll definitely keep you posted on me, best wishes and much love to you Robyn.x
