Her Ascent
She dares not question her guide
Ascending the spiral platform
Thirsty for calm.
Each step elevating her to the next
Yearning to reach her
Fateful destination.
Climbing up circular
Curves and winding
Steep angles.
Her Shadow follows
Free of thoughts
No decisions.
Gripping the sturdy iron rail of
Stability, she arrives
At the vertex;
And under a thick canopy of
Reassuring clouds,
Closes her eyes
to see.

“Closes her eyes to see” Interesting words. To make it up those stairs must have been some hard exercise for you. I hope you are not regretting it now. The picture is great. 🙂

Thanks Loner! yes sometimes we must close our eyes – to see…I have discovered. The ascent up was not too bad, as I had my ‘guide’ with me 😉 Glad you enjoyed, and hope you are well!

Stunning, emotional, and very beautiful…in image, words and thoughts! And you were right, the wait was definitely worth it. High five your guide for me!
June 8, 2012 at 12:46 AM
Well thank you Stan. Means a lot to have your input!! I’m thrilled you found the image to be worthy of “stunning”~ I have a very good friend who is a professional photographer as well, and convinced me to use this image when I was not planning to. Also thrilled you enjoyed the poem too, and you are right, really was charged with more emotion than I anticipated ~ Sending you warm wishes from me, my shadow, and my guide too!! 🙂

Tears – oh my… thank you Julie. You know this is not my typical philosophical quote or short fun verse …but it flowed quite naturally so I decided it was time. Means a lot that you felt moved by it dears friend….

June 8, 2012 at 9:07 AM
Oh wow Jeannie – you are the 2nd person who declared this ‘new favorite’ ~ very exciting:) Also thrilled you enjoy my writing… have not written creatively for many years (pre-blog) so easing in. This one was more of a channeling experience though ~ emotionally charged for me. I did not realize the treasure in the photo until a good friend who is a professional told me I must feature it on my blog — then the words came easily. Thank you so much for your encouragement! ~

So very powerful Robyn! The circular stairway of life, the ascent and closing your eyes . . . to see. I love it. Such powerful metaphors for life, its revolving challenges and the ultimate end where we truly learn to “see.” Wishing you a peaceful ascent above life’s challenges today!
June 8, 2012 at 9:46 AM
KT – so glad you liked this so much! Yes – you are pretty insightful – many metaphors built into this spiraling piece 🙂 I so appreciate your terrific comment here, and your good wishes for my journey. & I wish you the same peace in yours !!~ Much Love…

I have risen – it yelled, your spirit.
Knew it the whole entire time since I have been following you that THIS part of you was there. See Robyn, your endurance captured the lens beautifully, your words tight lipped, till now. Brilliant, realness metal proving the exquisite voice of your heart. Never cease to caption your images!!!
June 8, 2012 at 11:42 AM
Oh Mari — my spirit is rising even higher after reading your tremendous comment. I would agree — many sides of me, and have not explored them all over last several years… so happy to have such an encouraging community here and friends like you who inspire beyond belief. I will continue to look deeper and unleash more with time I presume…… but just know how much I appreciate your expression here ~ and each day over at ‘your place’ 😉 Love and sparkles to you my friend….

Victoria, thanks so much. Yes – I allowed this photo to take me somewhere I did not plan to go. It’s funny how pictures can launch all kinds of insights and emotions. Photography can be healing in many ways then I think. So glad you enjoyed the spirals and shadows… Wishing you a wonderful weekend….

Loved ‘close your eyes, to see’ … I totally understand that, and it really is quite profound. Love your photo, including the shadows! Beautiful poem and photo combination. Be well, and have a wonderful day, Robyn! ~ Julie 🙂 xox
June 10, 2012 at 1:53 PM
Thank you so much Julie! I truly appreciate your insight and thoughtful comment. So nice to hear from you. Yes – it is profound to make that realization…
May your day be wonderful as well~ 🙂 RL
June 10, 2012 at 2:10 PM
your stance at the top of this spiral platform portrays strength, pride, confidence, vision, courage and so much more …. your accompanying words burn radiantly through my observing soul much like that sunbeam engulfing the light tower a few posts back …. wishing you well Robyn ….:)
June 10, 2012 at 8:04 PM
Such a wonderful and thoughtful comment Jim. Thank you so much. Yes ‘she’ does seem to project a certain strength here… though I was not sure how the poem was going to unfold until it did. I am so glad to know the words were meaningful to you too…. as this poetry thing is still new for me. For this image was fairly easy, but will have to keep practicing! Really appreciate your great feedback and good wishes Jim 🙂
June 10, 2012 at 11:39 PM
robyn….this is greatness…just greatness…I’ve read it twice and it’s giving me goosebumps…the photo is amazing but the words…my God…This is the one….
June 11, 2012 at 1:33 PM
David that means so much coming from you ~ thanks from my heart. Probably my most ‘intense’ piece of writing here on TTHL. Was not sure where it was going, and as told Marie, felt almost like I was channeling…. words and story just seemed to come through me. A tiny bit spooky too 🙂 I am glad you enjoyed it so much – and thrilled you are back in town!!
June 11, 2012 at 1:38 PM
