Thank you for sharing your thoughts buckwheats. You are on target ~ definitely a sadness here. I imagine he is mourning the beauty left behind….and more. Yet still hanging on to the life he has yet to live. This was a tough one – as not quite inspiring and uplifting but had to go with the feelings that the image generated when I worked with it. Hoping that it offers insight to others in whatever way it might. So appreciate your chiming in tonight! ~ RL

Thanks Julie– a detour for me – but part of the work I think…
catafalque is: a temporary raised platform on which a body lies before or during a funeral. More of a metaphor here — he’s becoming aware of his mortality and the life he he has left to live. Glad you appreciated despite it’s lack of my usual glee 🙂 xo

Thank you Meryl. Yes- can see how you might ‘see the good’ in the awareness this man has realized as he journeys forward while looking back. Sometimes mourning past regrets or mistakes is necessary for healing, and allows us to move forward with renewed perspective. I hope that is what this guy is encountering 😉 Hard to know for sure (and can’t say where this one came from in me, but I went with the feelings). I’m glad you liked, and could put a positive spin on it in this sense!! Sending lovexo

i see it as just a little sad, reflecting on his past life but looking onwards towards the new that is to come. really very beautiful.. : )

Thank you so much much for that Dianne. Yes – I agree… he’s definitely facing his past regrets/choices, but also realizing that there is still life ahead and he must ‘use’ it wisely… I hope he does!!! So appreciate your input/wisdom today!!

Great post Robyn, this poem rings so true to where I am on my journey of life. Looking back at what could have been had it not been for certain circumstances is a prevention from moving forward to what lies ahead, It can be a hard task but I feel as though it is very doable.

So appreciate Chris! Yes I think we all face this point in our lives… that is when we live genuinely and consciously. Part of the healing comes from the awareness i believe…and some of us become “aware” at a younger age than others… some never. I do think you will find your path to move forward with grace and joy Chris…keep your wonderful sense of spirit and sensitivity nurtured, and the rest will flow. I’m so glad you enjoyed the poem… Thank you – and for your sweet wishes re: pain levels. They are a tad improved this week. Trying some new rehab protocols ~ mostly stabilizing positions like bridging, hip hinging, oblique work, and gluteus medius strengthening. Still is a great deal of constant pain – but less intensity than it was. Hoping you are making some headway as well… Love and Light Chris ~

Ouch…that last line…of life unused….Oh Ouch….that is how I’ve been feeling lately….to not have an unused life. This poem really spoke to me. I like how this is a bit different than your others…another aspect….and exposes a feeling I believe we all share. Excellent photo and prose. 🙂 Sam

I know — last line just wrote itself – and it’s very true – though he’s obviously got a choice to make now that he’s made this realization (here in my post 🙂 How he will “use” that remaining portion of his life… At least that is one interpretation. BTW – since none has mentioned, did you happen to note that he is “clinging” to the life jackets bin??? LOL! So glad you appreciated it even though not as shiny gleeful as my typical posts… Every now and then I too must face those shadow thoughts… and yes – we do all share in them. The ‘detour’ was well worth it 🙂 Your words and photos literally “capture” emotions and stories that we all may have had, are having or could have sometime. Part of your beauty comes from your ability to take the risk for us to see something we may have missed or are afraid of facing in ourselves—like today. You do this so well too, by creating poems or stories that allow us to discover what speaks to us…you don’t have it all figured out for us, so we are given the chance to figure it out on our own too. A great shot – which certainly can make one slow down to think about – whether you are heading the right place or way – if you maybe leave something behind ‘you’, that should not be leaving – think I have control of it in a satisfactory way myself – but a photo like this, as I said, make me thinking about it… 😉
