in our dreams, that the submerged
truth sometimes comes to the top.”

Thanks so much buckwheat! I know can be confusing at first glance! Was me walking along the shore feet and shadow ‘submerged’ 🙂 Be well!

I found in so relaxing to submerse myself in this image…she is so peaceful and tranquil (the sea), and even provided a fashionable foam garmet for your shadow! 😉 Lovely capture, truly inspiring quote, and as always..a most delightful post! I do believe your shadowy friend is casting a seriously positive and creative beauty to your imagery!

So glad Stan…even hubby came around and voted this image blog appropriate – yay! Yes – a garment: the sea-foam 😉 I was actually wearing a tank rolled up and leggings ~ isn’t quite bikini weather here yet. Glad you liked the post – and yes – my shadow which was at first just representative of my pain has become more and more a friend and creative model for me. I so appreciate your encouragement. Thank you warmly! ps: did you notice the one tiny part of the true “flesh-me” in this image? I left it on purpose (rather than crop it out). See if you can spot ~ Wishing you a peaceful evening!
May 25, 2012 at 1:15 AM
you know I spotted that earlier……….;) !
May 25, 2012 at 1:34 AM
🙂 and yes – I can see that as well Stan!!
May 25, 2012 at 12:41 PM

Love your ‘flotsam & jetsam’ style shadow in the surf…ah, to float there, have a good night Robyn!
May 25, 2012 at 12:55 AM
Aww thanks R! Could not resist this as I waded in the surf yesterday. I am sure I could improve it – and will attempt again come summer, God wiling! Sleep peacefully and float happy dreams tonight!
May 25, 2012 at 1:25 AM
Floating in a sea of dreams! Perfect!
May 25, 2012 at 12:57 AM
Darn Kathy – I needed to speak with you before posting tonight… I could have easily written a little poem around that!! Will consult you next time! You may need a blog of your own missy! I am so glad you liked! 🙂

Is it a mermaid coming come ashore from the sea…?
😉 😉 😉
May 25, 2012 at 3:14 AM
LOL! ledrakenoir – did not even consider, but can very well be!!! Thank you for your creative reply — love it! 🙂

This is my second reminder of a water nymph poem I have playing in the back of my mind – waiting for me to have time at the weekend.
Great photo Robyn – I like your off the sholder dress and long boots…
May 25, 2012 at 4:57 AM
oooo – a water nymph! Wendy this sounds fascinating for your series. Thanks for the wardrobe insight — i had to look carefully – but totally see the the off-shoulder mini dress and high boots now ! so cool!! (more glamourous then rolled up leggings and tank that was me 😉 Appreciate your comment Wendy!

ahhhhhhhh……shadowrobin….that’s her name….at the foam of the sea:) I have one more good shadow pic and maybe todays the day:) I really adore these pics of you…they’re dark but oh so human:)
May 25, 2012 at 6:11 AM
A new name…I think it works for sure David ~ thank you. Yes – the sea was sooooo very foamy that day — but beautiful. Can’t wait to see shadowdavid (maybe later)… I’m so glad you like the venue! I’m attracted to the shadow self-portraits because they can be deeply personal and yet artistic and creative too. I agree – dark in many ways – and my series began as strictly “Pain Shadows” – but maybe evolving into some “Hope Shadows” too… Human is good! Floating you good thoughts as you flow through your Friday David!

The truth of the matter is that the truth is all that matters. We all float on, all right? 😉 Great image! ~Regards, Dan

Yes Dan… “we all float on”. Love that! You are really awesome about getting to the heart of the matter. Thank you kindly sir – and may your day flow with peaceful ease and lots of joy!!! 🙂 Robyn Lee

It is and you have helped.

I’m not very good at interpretation but I really like the picture. The pose seems athletic and confident but is merely a shadow of what is really going on. The backround almost looks like a map but it resembled the femoral head while being shaved …..I know that’s gross but ….
May 25, 2012 at 8:04 AM
Paul – I think you are EXCELLENT at this interpretation task — don’t underestimate your talents my friend. You probably have the keenest insight, due to our shared experience with cp.
So true — the exterior is soooo only a tiny piece of the complex reality. I’m sure you too have people tell you how healthy and vibrant you “look” – what great “shape you are” in – etc. So difficult to know what to do/feel about this perception of external wellness, when the reality is that life with chronic pain entails so much unheard of/unseen tortutre – invisible, yet life altering.
We march on – we live and love – we persevere – we heal… at least these are my strategies for the current moment.
As for representation of femoral head shaving up there — yes – ick! Mine has been shaved enough so let’s call the foam “bubbles of wellness” instead 🙂 Sending you love and hoping you are holding your own these days… keep me posted on your latest adventures…think of you often!

Very cool image Robyn…those shadows seem to be moving better, more nimble?
May 25, 2012 at 8:11 AM
Thanks Meryl. This was Wednesday – a glorious day here … and I found myself walking along the shore for the first time in a few years. Was truly amazing. Did not even mind the cold temps of the water as the wave crashes soaked my leggings 😉 Nimble — well?? I get a day here and there that it’s a bit easier, but it is unpredictable…changes on a dime (as you know). Once I can maintain for a period of time – I will be psyched and convinced that I’m on my way ~ Sending Love from me and my shadow!

Very nice pairing of words and picture. Thanks!
May 25, 2012 at 10:07 AM
Thanks kindly Dr. Bill… So appreciate that, and welcome 🙂
May 25, 2012 at 12:38 PM
Well done, indeed!
May 25, 2012 at 10:08 AM
Thank you dear Jill! Glad you thought so 😉
May 25, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Maybe our dreams, too, are like the white foam constantly changing, reforming, separating and regrouping. Great connection between the quote and the unique photo. Hope you are rising to the top today too! Have a great weekend!
May 25, 2012 at 10:30 AM
Thank you KT! .. I agree, ever-changing and evolving…that is the nature of our dreams and desires. Great metaphor you have offered here.. the foam is a perfect symbol of this in many ways. So glad you enjoyed he post – and thanks for your sweet well-wishes. I’m making my way up!! Sending Love ~
May 25, 2012 at 12:43 PM
Robyn, I really like how you’ve been using your shadow in these latest pics–this one is just so perfect! The poem–perfectly suited as well! I don’t know how you do it, but you do it well! 🙂 I love this one!
May 25, 2012 at 11:19 AM
Oh thank you Jeannie. I’m hoping my shadow does not seem too self-absorbed modeling so much for my blog this last week 😉 Thrilled you enjoyed this one paired with Ms. Woolf’s insightful words. You are so kind to comment ! So appreciate.
May 25, 2012 at 12:45 PM
Robyn, using your shadow is not self-absorbed–not at all! You are using your creativity well and I, for one, am appreciative. 🙂 xoxo
May 25, 2012 at 1:12 PM
Thank you for that insight Jeannie. Yes – she is personal expression of a deeper part of me, so an important part of my creative work. I’m so glad you got that – Blessings!

So much to look at in this photo of your lovely shadow wading in the sea pool. Thought provoking in combination with the words you’ve chosen as a companion for it. Enjoyed this very much. Thank you Robyn Lee. 😉
