~

Warm thanks to the very lovely and talented Resa McConaghy, of Queen’s end | Life at Queen’s end, King, Queensway and Roncesvalles who unbeknownst to me at the time, sketched the above caricature portrait to include in her recent  post In Amore Veritas.  After it was complete, Resa sent the sketch to me for approval, and I was fascinated to experience her artistic vision, especially considering we have never met, and have developed our special friendship solely through our blog comments. I believe she captured a very distinct facet of my inner- energy in her playful and  delightful rendition. Needless to say, I am both tickled and honored.

I must also add that I’m doubly flattered, since this is the second time I have served as “Muse” for Resa, an accomplished  film costume designer in Canada who has outfitted some of the world’s top starlets. If you have not yet seen my post Blue Venus, be sure to check out the stunningly exotic art-gown Resa designed and created  for me, featured in her wonderful collection Art Gowns” for Charity.

Resa thank you again for shining your light so brightly here. Clearly, it is you who inspire and heal us with your creative loving heart.
This animation is a treasured gift, and with it, I just may be inclined to start my own–  “Robyn Lee: The Super Heroine” series 🙂 !

 In Amore Veritas!

~
So Much Love to All,
Robyn

    • Resa I am so delighted you love it. At first I was lost as to how to compose something around this fabulous sketch of yours… but knew I wanted to speak directly to its masterful creator. I also knew I wanted to express some deeper feelings it brought up for me… around embracing who we are, what we yearn for, our truth… and of course the power of love. ~ You’re a gem Resa. Thank you for waving your wand over me once again — I am forever grateful! ~ RLx

      May 2, 2013 at 11:23 PM

      • Dear Robyn,
You beautiful words of thank you only serve to inspire me further. I’m so proud of the 2 poems you have written in our honor, that I woke up this morning wanting a summer garment with some creative painting and the 2 poems on it. Maybe like a big white shirt that can flow free or be cutely belted over capri tights. Yes, I think need a poem shirt!
You are so much fun, Robyn! – Love Resa xoxo

        May 3, 2013 at 8:50 AM

    • Resa the poet’s top sounds sooooo great. I wear those capri tights all the time! That would really be a pretty look I think belted… or even as a cover piece for those windy days on the beach! Ok – now you have a new project! 🙂 Let me know if I can help!!! xxxooo More Amore ~x

      May 3, 2013 at 2:56 PM

      • Okay,
Working on it! 🙂 Step 1. I need to find 2 shirts the same that are perfect. Sizes – we are 2-4 I believe, so I will get over sized for the look. 🙂
Give me some time on this one!
If you see perfect shirts, let me know! xoxoxoxo

        May 3, 2013 at 5:18 PM

      • Ok – taking note of the ‘steps’ — yes I usually wear 2 or 4 (how did you know? you too?) So oversized to belt would be 6 maybe? I will keep looking – cotton fabric? More of that poet-blouse/peasant effect, or you think other? Take your time — we are very prolific these days, aren’t we… creating new animated adventure story, and now designing garments too!! 🙂 ~ will send you email probably tomorrow on my snail-mail addy! Love to you my beautiful friend ~ x Robyn

        May 4, 2013 at 4:08 PM

      • Dear Robyn,

I know sizes from “Blue Venus”.
YES, We are prolific, and I will take time! 🙂 Creativity comes easy to me. It’s the real world that contends.
Your take on the shirts is perfect.
        Soon. 🙂
My beautiful Friend! – Resa xoxoxo

      • Yes, Cotton, Or Rayon… Consider shrinkage. Yes Romantic, pirate-ish, Renaissance etc.
        No hurry.
This is not a job, it’s a joy!
        Love,

    • Oh good – we can take our time on all this 🙂 …. I am with you on the creativity vs real-world dilemma 🙂 But promise I will be on a secret mission to find the perfect “Romantic – Pirate-ish, Renaissance” blouses for us. Love to you my most beautiful F-G-S. x Hugs ~ Robyn

  4. Dear Robyn,
You are a bubble of Love and beauty that surrounds all! I’m so fortunate to have met you. It’s not a wonder you are such a fabulous Muse. Resa xoxo

    May 2, 2013 at 8:24 PM

    • “A bubble of Love & Beauty” – I adore the way that sounds Resa!!! Can we make me a glam superhero with your sketch and put me in a bubble of Love — that will keep my beauty preserved forevermore? Oh – my mind is racing now… I can be wearing Blue Venus and …and… and — well I will stop. You are my fairy-god-sister .. thank you for all of your gifts. One day we will need to meet in earth-land – and I will give you 100 kisses. Muse at your service anytime you need!! Amore and more ~ Robyn

      May 2, 2013 at 8:55 PM

      • Yes! Her super hero name is “Blue Venus”. When activated to hero from her normal person (Robyn with straight hair) She is in the Blue Venus and has the wavy hair, (or vice-versa) and floats and flies in her “Bubble of Love and Beauty) Her mission is to rid the world of hate and the evil it paints bringing peace.
Your Fairy-god sister (me) could be trapped eternally in an energy field that only the Blue Venus (and the odd other person could see. This could be where Blue Venus gets her latest mission. I like it! Tell me more!
We need an animator/ cartoon artist!
You are such a great Muse.
Thank you my dear for the joy you bring. In the meantime …. 100 air kisses to you. – Resa

        May 3, 2013 at 9:02 AM

    • Of course — the series must be named ‘Blue Venus’ ~ so perfect!! .. .. Will think on the hair thing ~ natural is curly for me — so should that be my ‘Robyn’ persona or my’ Blue Venus’ persona? 🙂 ~fyi: Most men like my hair curly and most women like it straight, for whatever reason. Wonder if that is pertinent when we decide on the character specs! lol ~

Oh my – This really is fun, isn’t it? — I especially like having my own wonderful ‘Fairy-God-Sister’ who conjures up such gorgeous dresses for all my missions … but, OH NO…. she is trapped in a funky energy field???! How will I save her? She has done so much for me, after all- she has “designed me” ! I must work on this mission at once and come to her rescue. What will be required? …. maybe some specific work on planet earth – and then some celestial flying and floating within the sparkling bubble of love — to solicit help from the great gods and goddesses. Or, perhaps some magical tai chi form Blue Venus can perform to help break down the barriers that hold her beloved F-G-S. There must be a formulary ~ a secret list of tasks Blue Venus/RL must accomplish to set her F-G-S free 🙂 ~ And once free~ she will have even more creative power and, together she and Blue Venus will transform the world ….

*And maybe we can incorporate metaphor (re: contemporary societal issues) into our fantasy drama ~ can be a parody about life, love and the pursuit of happiness… maybe even some messages about how we “create” our own reality. ~ So much potential … yes?
      –tell me more….

      ❤ RL

      May 3, 2013 at 11:16 AM

      • Everything you are saying sounds Fab! I’m pressed for time at the moment, but will reread all tomorrow and …..tell you more.

Both of us should be copying these notes into a Word Doc and folder for continued working!
        LOVE _ Resa!!!! xoxoxo

    May 2, 2013 at 8:28 PM

      May 2, 2013 at 9:09 PM

  6. Outstanding, glorious creative interpretation of you Robyn, the playful, fun loving and ‘glam’ of Robyn just glows in Resa’s rendition, more than just a caricature she’s captured just one of the many essences that make up the Robyn so many of us adore! Your poetry, a perfect symmetry to her clever artistic strokes! So beautifully well done! xo

    May 2, 2013 at 8:29 PM

    • Thank you so much Penny… I was so excited to do this and had no idea what to write about this spectacular animation of self that Resa created. Then my mind started to go — thinking about perceptions, how we appear to others, how we appear to self, how we reinvent ourselves at different times in our lives, how love changes who we are… etc. etc. and these rhyming words just popped into my fingers (keyboard) late last night. Yes – Resa is awesome amazing ~ i have shown this to a few who know me in the flesh and they are blown-away by how well she caught something of me (without having met me in person )… I can be very glam but also very playful and silly … and somehow she portrayed it here so well! So pleased you enjoyed it — when you get done with your book – maybe you can help me write my “RL the Super-Heroine” story too!! 🙂 ~ Love to you my beloved friend ~ RLx

      May 2, 2013 at 9:25 PM

      • Yes Resa is Awesome, as are you dear friend, She had much to work with! I’ll be happy to assist with “RL the Super-Heroine” How infinitely cool and fun that will be! Lots of love, Penny xoxo

    May 2, 2013 at 8:33 PM

  8. victoriaaphotography

Lovely verse and I love the way Resa has captured your beautiful smile and features. She must be a very clever lady.

(and yes, I am actually getting gmail notifications of your blog and 8 others, but not the remaining blogs I follow – it’s still a WordPress mystery and I have to go to the Reader for everyone else’s new posts).

    May 2, 2013 at 8:34 PM

    • Vicky thanks so much! She did do a fabulous job… I was blown away when I first saw it..wondering how she could do this without having seen me in person. I imagine she has some intuitive abilities along with her artistic talents. yay – at least you get my notifications — hope the others follow soon. Sending Love ~ RL

  9. That’s a great sketch from Resa. And wonderful to hear that you only know her too through blogging. It’s incredible how many new people I’ve met through this experience of blogging and I’m always excited to read your candid poems. Hope you’re well. Sending you big hugs and smiles -AB

    May 2, 2013 at 10:36 PM

    • I agree Arash! Isn’t it amazing how someone can “draw” your soul without having met you in person? Really made me think about a lot. It is true that there is something special about the connections we make here in our blogsphere. Just seems more intimate and at high-speed. Maybe because we tend to self-reveal here, and feel safe to be who we are without judgement. It’s been an amazing journey for me… Thank you for being you! ~ xHugs – Robyn

      May 3, 2013 at 11:20 AM

      • I agree Robyn. There’s something about revealing oneself through a blog, in relative anonymity, or at least indirectly. I think it speaks to those of us who are willing to reveal ourselves and our vulnerabilities that we may earn new friendships in life through blogging. Just like everything else in life, you only get out what you put in. Keep shining bright Robyn -AB

        May 3, 2013 at 8:40 PM

  10. Girl, you got class, ‘n’ you got style
And I could see it from a mile (away).
The poem is brilliant, Robyn, and Resa’s carricature, I believe captures a gentle, playful beauty that typifies you.
    Hugs,
    Paul

    May 2, 2013 at 10:41 PM

    • Awe Paul – you always know just what to say! Thank you so much. This was so much spontaneous fun. I was in awe when I saw Resa’s sketch, and to be honest – at a loss for how to approach it with my words. Thankfully the divine universal forces came to my rescue with this heartfelt simple, but rather deep poem! So thrilled you enjoyed – and I agree she captured something real there — Love to you dear friend ~ Robyn

      May 3, 2013 at 11:29 AM

  11. The poem is like a prayer. That caricature is fantastic and so much fun! Are you going to frame it?

    May 2, 2013 at 10:46 PM

    • What a lovely thought, that Robyn would ever want to frame my sketch! Of course she is welcome to it. As soon as I read your words, I put the sketch in a place safe from sleeping cats and coffee cup rings. Have a great day!

      May 3, 2013 at 9:15 AM

      • YES — I would love it Resa ~ if you want to part with original or even a copy. I was going to see if you can send me original photo file for a print to frame and treasure… Either of the 2 options would be wonderful. Let me know —& thank you for protecting her in the meantime 🙂

        May 3, 2013 at 11:26 AM

      • I will take a few more shots, so I have files that you are welcome to as well, and be honored to send you the original.
You should have it! Let me know where to send it.
I’m so happy you want this sketch! – Resa love

        May 3, 2013 at 5:14 PM

      • Oh that is incredible of you Resa. I will send you my snail mail – and took note of your email. Will drop you a note soon. Most definitely will frame her too ~ and she will be a “power object” for me to look to for strength and courage always!! Thank you so much – means the world to me 🙂 xxxx RL

        May 3, 2013 at 10:24 PM

    • Thank you so much Julie – I agree, Resa is not only talented but really intuitive too. I was going to ask her to send me original photo file to make a print and frame…but see she has offered me the actual sketch free of coffee cup rings below! So excited!! x Love to you -RL

  12. veraersilia

In my opinion you have already been doing the super-heroine saga of yourself ! When I am in much physical pain, like today, I think of you, my richly human heroine. Today you were on my mind as an inspiration even before I saw your post. Thank you.

    May 2, 2013 at 10:50 PM

    • Oh Vera ~ thank you so much for this very warm loving comment. I am so touched. Really I am so much the struggling human — just like so many… but I admit that venturing into the fantasy realm sometimes has helped get me through some battles. I am keeping you in heart and prayer — and hoping we both find ways to continue to overcome challenges in this realm. So much love ~ RL

    Definitely the Superhero 🙂

    May 3, 2013 at 2:40 AM

    • Thank you so much Alastair. So happy you liked the whole package! Such a desire for love….!!

    May 3, 2013 at 10:03 AM

    • That, I believe, is the “human condition” my dear Kazi — Everyone wants (and needs) to be loved – and to love. It is such a beautiful thing when we are able to fulfill this desire – and if we all did — think what a wonderful world it would be!! Love Your Way 🙂 ~ RL

      May 3, 2013 at 10:51 PM

  23. Robyn, this poem speaks volumes of your grace and beauty. The drawing speaks to another part of you, but nonetheless beautiful. I loved both, and can certainly understand why Resa has adopted you as muse-extraordinaire! Love to you, my lovely friend. ~ Bobbie

    May 3, 2013 at 10:05 AM

    • Oh Bobbie – I had a sense that you might feel the energy with which this pome was composed. Thank you dear friend. It came from one of those deeper places while reflecting on “self” during my first day with Resa’s sketch. Thrilled you enjoyed both words and sketch. Yes – I am so fortunate to be the recipient of Resa’s creative magic. I am still fantasizing about the Blue Venus gown ~ and now will hang this sketch in my office at home! dear Robyn, your beautiful poems, their rays of light, their reasons for hope, exhibit a majestic range of the topography of the soul. xo tony

    May 4, 2013 at 7:56 PM

    • Tony, thank you. There is always something very special about your words – be it here in a comment, or on your own blog. I believe it is energetic, and not something I can explain well…a genuineness that is distinct and warm. Ahhh.. the “topography of the soul” –this made me smile. 🙂 I suppose because I am a “seeker” — and, the soul: my most explored (and challenging) domain !
      So glad you enjoyed.

Love to you dear friend, RL

      May 5, 2013 at 12:08 PM

  27. As always the poem is beautiful but exemtionally more so since it accompanies an extraordinary sketch of you.

    May 4, 2013 at 11:00 PM

    • Thank you very much dear Kim. I so appreciate your thoughtful words… and happy to know you enjoyed it ! 🙂 x much love – RL

      May 5, 2013 at 11:59 PM

  28. Resa seems to have discovered your playful inner spirit perfectly Robyn and your words, deep and soulful, perfectly matched with this image. 🙂

    May 5, 2013 at 8:12 AM

    • I agree LuAnn – it goes to show how we get to know each other in such a personal way here… amazing! So happy you appreciated my words as a companion for Resa’s sketch. It is what just flowed when I spent the day revisiting it. “Deep and soulful” are perfect words to describe how it felt to me too! So much love dearest friend ~ x Robyn

      May 6, 2013 at 12:02 AM

  29. Love the pairing of your poem and Resa’s sketch. Very beautiful, Robyn.
Have I mentioned how much I like the look of your site? The colors work perfectly, and love the photo banner!
    All the best. ~Lori

    May 6, 2013 at 11:40 AM

    • Oh Lori – I am so happy you enjoyed the combination poem and sketch! So much do appreciate your feedback on the blog format/colors and theme too Lori — it is good to know, as I sometimes loose an objective view. I used to have greens and then did the blu/purples for a change and suck with it. Photo banner sometimes alternates – maybe snow is not great in the summer 🙂 ? So wonderful to see you and sending hugs and love your way today!! x Robyn

      May 6, 2013 at 3:05 PM

  30. Soooooo exquisite!!! Simply lovely, Robyn. What a treasure and an honor. My husband (long before we were married) once did a painting of me and it was such an incredible experience to inspire someone. This, though, unbeknownst to you! This is a lovely surprise! To be an inspiration! Wow! You truly embrace your sensuality. I love it. Love, Lisa

    • Thank you darling friend. Yes – such an honor to have been inspiration for Resa’s art ~ and what a wonderful surprise. I could not hold back on my words in this short (but intense) little poem… & soooo true – I do truly embrace my sensuality — to me it is analogous with life itself! “We Are Love” ~~ Someone really wise and wonderful said that very recently. 😉 x Robyn
