Just When You…
Just when you
believed
you
knew
~
the
beauty;
the
magic;
the
rapture;
of
our
brilliant
winter
sun
setting herself
over
the
eager
majestic
sea;
~
you
suddenly
realize
that,
in
essence,
~
you
know
~
nothing
at
all.

Thank you so much Benjamin ~ this was a fairly miraculous sun – did you notice it’s geometric shape… a near perfect hexagram. I have never experienced this before…can symbolize many things ~ but mostly I think it means: we can’t know anything “for sure”… guess that is what makes life most interesting

I had to go back and examine, you’re right nearly perfect. I would agree, everytime i think I know what to expect out of life it reminds me that im still just a student.
01/22/2013 at 14:55
I will need to visit your gallery to see if I can find your Star Sun ~ is it there? Many points? Here is an interesting take on the symbolism of the Hexagram in various cultures ~ http://greatseal.com/symbols/hexagram.html ~
01/23/2013 at 01:28
Yes ~ it’s pretty wild. I’m sure it was only this way for a few seconds – but so lucky to capture a 6 point sun-star (about to set) with my lens. Ok ~ now ‘we’ can PAINT one!!!
~ Teasing (maybe?)
~ but you are soooo right Benjamin — each and every one of us here on this earth is a ” student” and our teachers are everywhere – if we stop to notice. Thank you dear friend — always a joy to hear your thoughtful input. RLx
01/22/2013 at 15:34
A six point star, I can do that, I kinda did already but I think it’s way more than six.
01/22/2013 at 18:56
How wonderful to actually have been there in the moment to capture this Robyn. Excellent photograph. Your words are true and good. Mother nature never stops surprising or surpassing her own beauty does she! A good reminder to us all, Thank you as always your words illustrate perfectly the reflected image! All my love to you dear friend ~ Penny xoxo
01/21/2013 at 23:08
Thank you so much dearest Penny. Yes – this was one unusual sunset – and I have witnessed so many as this is another favorite ritual of mine. The “star shaped” sun did not last very long — so I was lucky to be clicking away to capture it, in this moment. Just made me think about how much we often believe we know and understand as we grow and live life … but really it’s all always changing and evolving isn’t it? ~ nothing stays the same …. something mysterious but lovely about that though. ~ Ok ~ the bath is awaiting ! Goodnight my beautiful friend! ! RL
01/21/2013 at 23:37
Yes and yes, good night Robyn! xx
01/21/2013 at 23:41
Robyn, what an exquisite photograph, and I love your poem that complements it so well. We humans are so insignificant when compared to the infinite mysteries of earth, sea and sky ……. beautiful words from a beautiful soul, I love this, and you, dear friend. ~ Julie xoxox
01/21/2013 at 23:20
who can understand the hidden depths? a photo well captured
01/21/2013 at 23:26
so true nightlake… it’s when we think we have it figured out that life shows us otherwise ~ like in this photo! ~ Thank you dear friend! x RL
01/22/2013 at 11:06
A piece that’s truly in the moment, Robyn…
I love that.

That is wisdom at heart my beautiful new friend. Much love, Sheri
01/21/2013 at 23:37
Thank you so much dear Sheri ~ there is a certain wisdom in the “unknowing” I believe yes! ~ x RL

Very happy you enjoyed this Scott ~ was a unique sunset indeed! ~ Warm wishes your way today ~ xRL
01/22/2013 at 11:11
Did you photoshop the photo to get the six sided figure in the sun.??? If you didn’t then this is one of the best and most fascinating captures I’ve seen in a long time… of course only Robyn would capture it… beautiful… God I wish you would stop lying in the snow, makes me cold every time I look at it…
Robyn such wonderful words that I now try to read before skipping to your photo… My Guru… to see if I can picture what I’m about to see in the photo… and this one told me I was to see something I did not expect to see, and that sun is it… a magnificent capture… love to you all that side of the world…
01/22/2013 at 03:17
LOL ~ dearest bulldog …
~ unfortunately I am not that astute yet with my editing skill. I would not even known how to “photoshop” ~ so yes this is the real deal as my lens captured it this day. I keep planning to upgrade from i photo to Lightroom but have been remiss. I think it was only for a brief moment that the sun appeared with these 6 points — a hexagram (which I’ve learned has all kinds of intense symbolism based on various cultures and beliefs). To me it just meant we cannot necessarily know what to expect in any given moment ~ and best be joyful in the “unknowing” of life and be tickled by the surprises! Certainly made an interesting image to share though; I’m so glad you enjoyed… and liked my little philosophical poetic verse.
Really, I do like lying in soft fresh snow though – so not to worry about the header!
Snowed yesterday here for first time this winter too! Sun is shining today melting most of it
Lots and Lots of love your way ~ Robyn

Love it xo

01/22/2013 at 03:26
Yes Cat – makes total sense — can compare it to a pretty intense ujjayi breath ~ also called “ocean breath” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ujjayi_breath) ~ which by the way, is an amazing way to wind down… you may already know this. Very happy you felt this … and sending tons of love your way today beautiful lady! ~ x RL

~ Love and Light ~ Robyn
01/22/2013 at 11:33
Beauty, that raw one…of your words that…embraces so peacefully. Thank you for those moments, Robyn.
01/22/2013 at 05:45
Ese ~ such a lovely compliment — truly the words were not really composed or premeditated… just a statement that I’d probably ‘say aloud’ to a friend after witnessing such a unique sunset experience
I am so glad to share the moment with you my sweet friend ~ Love and Light ~ Robyn
01/22/2013 at 11:36
An absolutely wonderful photograph Robyn! I also really like the header image, lying out in the snow to get the shot, a photographer after my own heart. What’s next, kneeling in the middle of a stream, wading waist deep for a water lily?
01/22/2013 at 06:38
Thanks so much Jeff ~ I am so glad you enjoyed the photo (which btw was new camera at work — a DSLR that I’m just getting familiar with). Also glad you like the header — yes — I like the adventure of rolling around in snow
~ this was shot a year back when I opened the blog! You are right – I still need to get into the water lily pond and get really muddy – don’t I?? One day — you will be the first to know when I get so brave! You are my inspiration there for sure ! ~ x RL
01/22/2013 at 11:41
A new DSLR, what’d you get, what’d you get???
01/22/2013 at 19:36
So very true Robyn…x
01/22/2013 at 06:50
I agree dear Chris ~ better to just be ok with the “unknowing” and flow with the waves… not always easy ~ but we can take baby steps ~ like embracing this unusual sun ~ Sending you much love and light today dear friend ~ x RL
01/22/2013 at 11:55
Both poem and photo stunningly exquisite. Masterful, Robyn. You eloquently paint life through your lens and your soul. Have a bless day!

You are a goddess of hope, Robyn….xxxx
01/22/2013 at 08:21
A new “goddess archetype” you have named me
~ thank you dearest Julie …I love the thought of that, — but only only doing my best. I am thinking of you ~ hoping somewhere wonderful and exciting. You deserve. So much Love ~ Robyn
01/22/2013 at 14:07
Let me travel deep tonight
inside the horizon’s belly
where I could find the undreamed pearls
for dazzling your tomorrows….
Hold me inside that eye
that beauty only knows …
Walk with me on the grains
that path only shows…
01/22/2013 at 08:40
Oh Nika, Nika Nika ~ what am I going to do with all these glorious verses you have generously bestowed upon my pages; one more lovely than the next. Thank you dear friend ~ always a joy to read your poetry… one day I promise I will gather all the “pearls” you have shared in one place and devote a post to them…. still thinking of a way make such a presentation. Perhaps over he next few months I will find a way ~ Sending warm wishes your way today ~ RL

06/17/2013 at 08:25
Yay Nika !! – you have returned…I was a little worried actually – all is well?
06/17/2013 at 14:43
Robyn I love this. First I read the poem and then looked at that beautiful photo. I had to read the poem over a few times to understand the meaning of it.
01/22/2013 at 09:38
Thank you so much Renee ~ yes it was a “surprise” for me too… never saw a sun take this form before. So glad you enjoyed
With Love ~ Robyn
01/22/2013 at 15:12
Robyn…it seems that I keep hearing this as I get older…it’s what I guess they call wisdom…:-)
01/22/2013 at 10:12
Thanks Meryl ~ yes wisdom is everywhere if we take the time to see/hear/feel it — the sun taking on the shape of a 6 point star or hexagon – was pretty awesome … I may not have all that exciting a life these days but witnessing this was almost as good as going to Italy for the weekend.
x RL
01/22/2013 at 15:15
Oh my goodness what a perfect poem for that photo! What kind of a camera do you use? That’s a great shot!
01/22/2013 at 12:47
Thanks Amanda ~ so glad you enjoyed and thought the poem did this spectacle of nature some justice
~ Canon DSLR Rebel, but as I said, I am a complete novice… had been point/shooting up till now
~ Very thrilled you liked it!! Love and Light ~ RL
01/22/2013 at 15:18
Wonderful words preparing us for that glorious picture! Thanks again Robyn for brightening the day. Love xx
01/22/2013 at 13:15
Thank you so much dearest Ruth! To brighten your day brightens mine — really!!
The words were very natural for this — just what I would say to myself looking at that 6 point Sun Star ~ xo Love to you, R
01/22/2013 at 15:19
gorgeous shot and point of view both visually and in words. And in reference to the question about what camera you use, it is not the camera but the eye behind the camera. Funny how the more we learn, the less we know.
01/22/2013 at 14:32
Oh Jane thank you so much. I have to agree with you on your take on “the eye” ~ was very resistant to move into a DSLR camera. Just loved the ease and portability, and spontaneity of using my i phone 4S or canon S100. I’m feeling more ready to have this experience sophisticated photography technology, though deep down — i know it’s not about the camera at all. And yes – isn’t that the truth — with age and wisdom ~ comes the realization that really nothing is absolute in this life. We learn as we go ~ and then relearn again ….. Much Love and Light ~ Robyn
01/22/2013 at 15:26
Beautifully put, dear Robyn!
I love your organic approach to concepts.
Resa question to Robyn:
Is there any color you especially love?
01/22/2013 at 16:56
Thank you so much dearest friend. Very happy you enjoyed ~ organic – yes that is me!! LOL! And as to your question — hmmm… i love ORGANIC colors – earth tones of greens and rusts and reds and golds – and and – - well you get it ~ I’m an earth girl at heart I think. … but every now and then I can go for brilliant blues too (maybe that is the sky in me)…
ok – I’m sure this was tmi ~ Sending you huge hug! xo RL
01/23/2013 at 00:50
Hugs, and hugs. xo RM
01/23/2013 at 08:31
All I can say is “Wow” – that is one stunning photo, Robyn.
The clarity & colour is beautiful.
The words are wonderful too.
01/22/2013 at 18:06
Thank you so much Victoria ~ actually I wondered if it was too dark — but the sun shape just blew me away ~ it looks like a true Hexagram with 6 points – did you notice that? … and of course the words were my reaction to that. So glad you enjoyed sweet friend! x RL
01/23/2013 at 00:54
Wonderful and so true. Perfect for a weekend that saw temperatures in the high 40s and then drop to today’s high of 20.
01/22/2013 at 19:24
Thank you so much shoreline ~ oh yes – it is getting very very cold here now … I still try to find the sunsets — some of the prettiest ones are in the coldest temps for some reason it seems… sending love and light ~ RLx
01/23/2013 at 00:55
…but aren’t we always learning. Beautiful sunset, Robyn. I’m a real sucker for sunsets.
Paul
01/22/2013 at 22:27
Thank you Paul ~ yes always learning – always evolving ~ nothing stays the same, does it?
~ me too “sucker for sunsets” — ruins my night when there is an overcast day and no sun departure to witness. This particular one was very unusual though ~ did you notice the shape of he sun and it’s 6 distinct points?… have never seen this before! Intriguing to say the least ~ happy to share — Warm wishes , RL x
01/23/2013 at 00:58
Wow! I hadn’t noticed that. It’s almost like a “Star of David”. Really unusual. I have a page “At The End of the Day” on my site where I collect sunsets from places I’ve been or vacations, or just nice sunsets that have visited my lens. I update it periodically when I get a new one. Good Night, RL
Paul
01/23/2013 at 01:13
I will definitely need to see this page with your sunset collection! Yes – I did some research with this SUN STAR/Hexagram — and there are so many symbolic references for this …. from so many cultures — here is one link ~ pretty powerful! http://greatseal.com/symbols/hexagram.html &Goodnight to you Paul!

Stunning sunset photo Robyn and you are so right, Mother Nature will forever remain a mystery.
01/23/2013 at 10:28
Thank you so much LuAnn ~ I have so many special sunset photos – but this one just amazed me because of the shape the sun took here (the hexagram) ~ You are right — forever a mystery …. like so much of this life we live. Love and Hugs ~ Robyn

Nature always leaves me in awe.. Beautiful poem:) xx

How true your words are, Robyn. Like a song it presents a gamut of expressions, and I imagine—your voice could be more healing in real.
A sunshiny picture, but your words have found their own place in the sky. Blessings and love.
