Ladder To The Sun
Follow me
Follow me
I found a ladder
To the sun;
One step at a time
That’s all it takes,
Join our caravan
Of fun.
~~~
We’ll travel above
Silk purple skies
Our chariots,
The clouds;
Our path of night
Lit up by stars,
Moon beaming
Full and proud.
~~~
We’ll sleep in beds of
Puffy white, while
Sun gods
Keep us
Warm;
They’ll protect us
From those gusty winds,
And shelter us from
Storms.
~~~
So follow me
It’s single-file
Climb upward
One by one;
For each step we take,
Each wish we make
Means our journey
Has begun.
i so love this shot! really really good! the poem works perfect with it too!
08/10/2012 at 00:01
Thank you Buck ~ there is something about this shot that got to me. I am so glad you felt it too! Sending Love
08/10/2012 at 00:07
Outstanding photography and your poetry is lovely, poignant, moving and as usual brilliantly you. I wonder Robyn how our mind registers things upon first viewing. Whatever the moment is when that sensation strikes the need then becomes to record, review, relive, replay, enhance as the moment becomes embedded in our memory in the manner we wish it to be! I really enjoyed your artistry today my friend.
08/10/2012 at 00:24
Thanks so much Penny. You are soooo kind! I was just saying to Bulldog below, that my confidence level has been inflated due to the wonderful blog friends I’ve encountered here. For me this work is pure fun (I called it silliness and see he’s down there now telling me not to underestimate – hee hee). The concept of artistry is fantastic to me ~ if my ‘fun’ can be such.!!
as for your ‘wondering’ – I too think about that… For me it’s usually just being inspired by something I observe — snapping a random shot having no idea what will happen with it until much later. Then comes the replay and reliving — and usually a bit of fantasy – and then as you say embedding the story the way I want it to be. What can be better than that right? The creative process is a true gift this way. I am so glad you enjoyed this dear friend ~ much Love to you x
08/10/2012 at 00:55
I really did. Sending warm thoughts and love right back at you Robyn!
08/10/2012 at 00:57
oh my Robyn, the photo is so amazing, it looks like climbing to Heaven! It is just stunning to see; we want to go, to follow….it looks like Angels look down upon the face of this somehow. Your poem gathers us all, takes our heart, hopes and faith. We want to follow. Single file is fine! Yes! The journey has begun. Thank you for such uplift and inspiration. LoveAll, Linda
08/10/2012 at 00:28
Thanks so much Linda ~ I thought the same — climbing into the celestial skies
Made me want to go with those fun loving children. I am so glad you will join us and can see the hope and heart in the image. Thrilled you enjoyed and could feel the spirit of this ~ Much Love dear one xo
08/10/2012 at 01:04
Robyn, do you take the picture and the words just flow..? or have you the words and then go and look for the photo..? Which ever it is amazes me, your words and photos always go perfectly together… damn you’re good at this and I just love those words… your mind fascinates me, that someone can just pop out those words like you do… lovely, lovely, lovely….
08/10/2012 at 00:36
Thank you so much BD! Ok – Only one time ever did I take a photo first to match words I had. It was ‘Passion Flower’ – they were Lady Day’s words, not mine — I admired her poem once posted- -and then held on to it and asked her permission to post if I ever got a shot of an actual Passion Flower…and eventually I did
All of my other photos here came before any words (be they my own or selected). It’s truly great fun to just shoot life and then mediate on the images later to see what “comes up” — really wonderful therapy for me
I am so thrilled you are enjoying my silliness ~~~ which is really what I consider this, though all my friends here have given me a mighty nice confidence level… for which I am very grateful
You are such a sweetie ~ Appreciate so much! R
08/10/2012 at 00:44
This could hardly be called silliness… its brilliant.. and these post of yours could so easily be put in a coffee table book and sold… people would love it… therapy for you becomes therapy for us… you’re good at this, don’t underestimate how good it is.. I have a friend who has a book of poetry published, he thinks you’re brilliant… so think about it for the future…
08/10/2012 at 00:48
Wow BD -touched – thank you… ok – I won’t call it silliness – but silly is good- right? I won’t underestimate – and am just very humbled by your sincere encouragement … I may just have to make a coffee table book one day~ at least for my table and maybe one to send to South Africa to a special supportive friend there
~oh and you showed your friend the poet my work — yikes ~ I am blushing now xo
08/10/2012 at 01:02
Silly is good… but you would be silly if you didn’t do the book… is silly now good or bad… now I’m confusing myself..HELP….
08/10/2012 at 01:25
LOL!! Off to sleep -’ puffy white ‘is waiting
08/10/2012 at 01:31
I agree with Bulldog’s comment – this is definitely not silliness, it’s ART … and you could make an awesome coffee table book from your photography and poems …….
what a beautiful dreamy fun shot Robyn, and that poem is stunning.
i love poems like these so full of hope and giving new things to dream on…those puffy whites sound such a comfortable place to sleep on…
hugs n love
08/10/2012 at 00:39
Yes Soma – that is what I thought – fantasy FUN! I sort of wrote this with a child’s voice intentionally ~ and that let me easily slip right back into my child spirit that is always waiting to be called on
I am so happy you enjoyed the poem too – yes imagine sleeping on beds of ‘puffy white’ this evening – and bask in the comfort ~ hugs and much love to you ~R
08/10/2012 at 01:08
08/10/2012 at 01:15
Absolutely nightlake ~ may be a long evening but will be worth it – promise!! Thank you friend!!
08/10/2012 at 01:20
It’s always so fascinating to read the comments you get….my first thought was of childhood and whimsical adventures! You took me on a journey to those puffy white’s and I want to stay there and sleep tonight…and dream of safety, warmth and wishes! Again, so very a perfect match of your words and gorgeous photography!!
I agree with Bulldog!! And I want an autographed copy!!
So so much love and hugs sweetest friend <3 !!
Robyn, amazing how you keep finding a new way to render the same subject over and over and how the beach where youve lived for so long continues to inspire you anew…very inspiring for me to watch….xoxom
08/10/2012 at 06:39
Yes – amazing to me too ~ how the same beach can become 100 new destinations all depending on where I aim my lens!
Well — I’m certain you know how this works, but for me, it seems like a magic trick! Also is great for me to look at these images from the shore, now since I have not been able to get there. Thank goodness for the creative process – yes? Sending lots of love and whimsy your way today ~ xxoo R
08/10/2012 at 10:32
08/10/2012 at 06:43
Oh Hilal – I very much appreciate your insight into that line in my poem. I also agree with you wholeheartedly. Every step we take COUNTS and is part of the journey… and there is always yet another step to take that can let us ‘begin again’.
Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness… Much Love your way today ~ RL
08/10/2012 at 10:35
Robyn, I love everything about this photo! Except for one small thing. It brings out the father in me
My inner child wants to climb right on up there with them. The father sees the chair toppling over. When did youth slip out and the “responsible” adult sneak in? That’s just wrong
The photo is still amazing!
08/10/2012 at 07:20
Jeff you are so funny ~ I did not even think of this, but maybe because I let myself really go into “child-mode”??!! Also as a parent – and resident of this beach community – I know the stability of this particular chair — and watched my own children play on it year after year without tumble!!!
So happy you liked the image though …. It was that special time of the day when the sun is on its way down — but not quite sunset – and the sky becomes a pattern of hues…. love that moment on the beach! Thank you so much for stopping in and have a great day!! ~RL
08/10/2012 at 10:39
Ahhh — you got me reminiscing about when my daughters were ‘sun-climbers’ Jeff! I just added a link to the bottom of the post ~ you can get a glimpse of them when they were “sun-climbers” too ~ not 19 and 22 yo
Have a wonderful weekend!! RL
08/11/2012 at 13:08
Spectacular photo!The colors are surreal. Your words captured the moment.
08/10/2012 at 08:06
Oh wow…thanks so much Kim ~ thrilled you enjoyed the photo and were able to share the moment w/me!! Much Love to you ~R
08/10/2012 at 10:41
The shot is just spectacular and then the poem serves as the icing on it…” while sun gods keep us warm” love it
08/10/2012 at 08:18
Thanks so much Boomie!! Gotta love the sun gods ~ i agree
So appreciate you !! ~RL
08/10/2012 at 11:27
08/10/2012 at 08:59
Thank you Kathy – me too~~ we can be 10 together and start this thing from scratch !! xo
08/10/2012 at 11:28
What divine words. They fit perfectly with that gorgeous image.
Do you sometimes wonder where these poems come from?
What magic does your image unveil in your mind?
08/10/2012 at 09:44
I do wonder Victoria ~ really sometimes marvel at how the image inspires words in this light-hearted kind of way. Thank you so much ~ so gald you enjoyed and found the image appealing! Much Love to you ~ R
08/10/2012 at 11:29
Robyn this poem is so great and so positive. I love the photo. The colors in the sky look so beautiful and I love the idea of climbing up the lifeguard chair.
08/10/2012 at 09:49
Thank you so much Renee! I’m glad you liked this so much! It is fun to go into childhood fantasy with the writing sometimes! Yes the chair… My kids loved climbing that chair when they were small! Xxxooo
So happy you enjoyed this Julie! Saw your comment above too under bulldog’s thread! As i said earlier… Your feedback is so wonderful to have. Very special – and cant wait to own your book!! 💐 xo
08/10/2012 at 20:42
This was amazing. I stared at the photo for a long time. So unique and brilliant. I am blown away. This is my new favorite piece. The photo and poem are divine together. I could see myself climbing up to the sun and drifting in the clouds with my sea sister. Really loved this one. Did the words flow out of you? Sure seems like they did. What a great gift. Needed something cheery!!! Thanks so much. Love button.
Sam
08/10/2012 at 23:59
Oh Thank you Sam !
First — where is your pretty avitar picture dear sea sis? boo hoo– this is not acceptable this box with orange dots – you are soooo much more than this box!!!
Next – really – you loved it?? I loved the photo too, so seemed like those children were headed for that huge sun! – and yes the child-like fantasy poem just flowed from the skies! I laugh at myself when I do stuff like this… it reminds me of when I was in grade school and would spend hours in my room just creating silly stories and rhymes… then drawing or cutting out magazine photos to match… and now I’m doing the same but all grown up!!
So glad you enjoyed it. Fun for me — takes me away in a sense (which I too needed at this point in time). Yes – together we shall climb — head for the chariots and ride through the starlit purple black skies … and sleep in the puffy white beds of comfort and love ~ waking to greet Madame Sun
~ xxooo Robyn
08/11/2012 at 00:08
I especially like the second and third stanzas ~ the whole poem rocks ~ nice pic too Robyn
08/11/2012 at 00:43
Thanks so much Polly glad you liked – so great to know which stanzas appealed most. Seems you liked the actual vision of the journey
I agree — could have gone further with the fantasy for sure — maybe will add! Lovely to hear your thoughts Polly — means a lot xo Much Love
08/11/2012 at 00:46
I think you’re right, Robyn, it’s always good to see / hear the thoughts of others on one’s work ~ glad my comments meant something to you ~ Polly x
08/11/2012 at 03:11
A perfect pairing
08/11/2012 at 02:14
Thank you dear Seb! ~ Much gratitude and glad you enjoyed
08/11/2012 at 12:22
I always feel lost for words with your photography, Robyn. I wonder if you are aware that through this medium, you are seeing through the eyes of God? It’s too beautiful to have any other explanation.
08/11/2012 at 04:45
Yaz – so touched you can feel that. I’m not completely aware of what I am truly doing here, to be honest. I think because of my pain and life situation, I have tapped into a different “sense” with my work that I may not have access to otherwise. Though I have not been clear about its meaning or origin. Since I do believe God lives in all of us ~ your theory may be accurate ~ and if so…. what a beautiful blessing that is for me ~ Thank you for sharing your feeling on this, and Much Love to you dearest friend xxoo
08/11/2012 at 12:27
Robyn, your pain and life situation are the whole point. They imply beliefs that you have about yourself that aren’t real, and the gift you have is showing you what IS real. The only real place is this space where the true art flows from. In your pain, its still right there. It’s to show you what you are and are not, highlight ‘two’ you’s. This is the issue you are required to heal, to stop identifying with ideas about yourself and identify with God (the real you).
08/12/2012 at 01:39
Yes yaz – my favorite line is ” I am so much more than my physical body” – I guess that sums up what you are saying… still – would be great to be able to sit and walk… and eat and sleep without the pain I feel
I will keep at it ~ I know the art is God’s gift and a wonderful reminder – I am so much more… Thank you dear one — I am so grateful for your loving guidance!!xo
08/12/2012 at 01:53
Oh Robyn – what a photo and the words are breathtaking. I had to google you to get in because I am having WP problems again – you really are something else – an amazing wondrous person. Juliexxx
08/11/2012 at 10:05
Thank you for your visit dear Julie… I knew you were having issues with wordpress so did not expect to see you here…. never feel pressure – I know you will come when you can! I google you too sometimes if I think I missed something… or I press on your avitar on my site and it takes me to your profile that lets me in to your wonderful blog! So glad you liked my post though ~ ‘the child in me’ came out to play for this one… Also lots of memories of my own children climbing this lifeguard chair … I should find the photos and post a link ~ they were so little and are so big now!! xxoo Sending Love and Hugs~
08/11/2012 at 12:32
Ok ~ I added a link at the bottom that will take you to a photo of my very own “sun-climbers” back 15 years ago
Enjoy xo
I leave for a day or two … and i itch and scratch .. until I succumb and come back ..to a feast I am always welcomed to .. to a silliness of a celestial sound .. your transparent words and images reveal the inspiring , aspiring the angel in you …..
08/11/2012 at 20:48
Welcome back Dear Tarek…and thank you so much for your comment that provoked audible smiles and joy for me this evening. So pleased you enjoyed my silliness, and the celestial rhythm of my post
You are the angel my friend – and this I’m sure!
08/11/2012 at 21:48
Yay Resa – thank you — now I know the journey will be fun! xo
08/13/2012 at 01:45
Lovely poem and wonderful photo. Made me smile reading this, very childlike… which I love by the way.
Could so see this as a childrens book, just wonderful. Love and hugs. Lisa. xx
08/13/2012 at 13:05
Thanks so much dear Lisa! Yes – very much tapped into my inner-child here, which is always great fun. When I would write this type of thing many many years ago — for fun – my kids always pleaded with me to write children’s books … I guess it’s gonna be blogging for a while though ~ which suits me just find xo Sending Love to you Lisa!
