Free Spirit
Angelic child
Beckons me;
Soft sweet smiles
Aura: gold and free.
With reckless abandon
She skips through dirt piles;
Lips stained chocolate
Wispy wind-blown hairstyle.
Something pure
Yet something wise;
Her sun shines down hope
As she swings through the sky.

Your writing is amazing – I love this! It makes me remember the wise child I used to be, that I now strive to reconjure. Robyn you are so wonderful and I find myself waiting in anticipation for your posts. Loveya! Julie
07/20/2012 at 23:58
Thank you Julie… so that is our new collective goal ~ tapping into the free-spirited wise souls we truly are at our core. It is amazing how hard knocks of life can get in the way of our true selves. I’m glad the post could bring that up for you. You are so sweet to compliment my writing Professor Julie…but I think you are just trying to make my day when you say that stuff (blushing), so you succeeded
xo Loveya back!!
07/21/2012 at 00:11
I’m not a professor, only a phd doctor and if you call me a professor again I will start calling you Dr Robyn! Not trying to make your day at all – mean it all sincerely. You can bloody write kid!
07/21/2012 at 00:27
Ok – now you are making me laugh, and making my day too! Well… ok – I’ll accept then — such a compliment from you, as any ph d who has taught college level English/writing and published a book is called a professor in my book! Oh – and many of my friends and family do consider me a Medical Doctor based on the level of education I’ve had to inflict upon myself given my history. Get consulted all the time here
I have subspecialties in so many things too… Medical Textbooks all over the house. Should do a post one day — would be funny and or sad … Love you Julie!
07/21/2012 at 00:38
Love you too, Dr Robyn!!!

Lovely poem and precious photo. Captures the child in us all…wonder what adventures await her…what trees she’ll be climbing to spy on people….remembering when worries weren’t there….just fun, sunshine and swinging. What a hope-filled post that reminds us to be in this world as children free. Thank you sea sister. You amaze me with the scope of your photos….the spectrum is broad and always surprising. Hope you are resting and serene. Hugs

The Robyn Way: take some ordinary letters – create them into well-chosen words – mix them at the The Robyn Way – great…
Lovely photo of the little sweet girl – looking behind her makes me rembering my own little tricykle (with load where my little dog “Pjevs” sit) from my early childhood…
07/21/2012 at 05:28
Oh ledrakenoir, what a lovely tribute to my ‘way’! Cannot thank you enough for your flattering words here. This was quite a natural piece to write for this sweet adorable little girl …. she was quite the energy of innocence and love. I am so thrilled that tricycle behind her stirred up some childhood happy memories for you too! I have an other shot that features the “toys” more and you will really get to fixate on that trike when I post it. Old fashioned playthings are magical. Can’t believe you loaded up you doggy ‘Pjevs’ for rides too… how awesome!! Thank you friend !:)
07/21/2012 at 10:56
Lips stained chocolate – thanks for featuring me in your poem
07/21/2012 at 08:28
Carl – you got me giggling here…. Yes —’ lips stained chocolate’ is a fashion I sport often too!!! This kid looked like she started the ‘trend’ however
Sending good thoughts your way friend! ~RL

Beautiful poem and the lovely child swinging in gay abandon – exhilarating. Thank you!
Regards!
07/21/2012 at 08:38
Thank you so much dilip! Yes – I shot her quite a while ago – and wrote this up then, but was so nice to revisit and share now. She was an exhilarating sight to behold
So glad you enjoyed ~Much Love to you, RL

Such a sense of whimsy here, Robyn….and she looks quite familiar…but maybe I’m wrong?
07/21/2012 at 09:24
Thanks Meryl… this was shot behind the river (Riverhead) when we were there a while back. I was shooting pics of the river and then noticed this house right off the parking lot where kids were engaged in good old-fashioned play with their grandpa. I approached, and greeted them… and he invited me to do some candids shots. So I don’t know this fair child personally… but she made a lovely feature for my post today, so glad I was so bold enough to introduce myself
xo

I have to agree with jmgoyder, you really can bloody write.x
07/21/2012 at 12:50

Swings and binoculars.. what more could a girl want??
07/21/2012 at 18:58
Barbara — you are the first to mention those magnificent binoculars — they were a big part of my focus — her “lens” — Thank you for catching that — and yes — what more can a girl EVER want!? Much Love ~
07/21/2012 at 20:27
I think this may be my favorite piece of yours! Love, love, loved it! Oh, the childhood memories just came flooding back. Great work!
07/21/2012 at 22:28
Oh wow onelife – that is wonderful to hear!!! I am so glad it bought you back to those glorious days ~~ me too. This child was like a magnet in real life. I think part of is was the fact the yard was so old fashioned – nothing electronic around, and pure unadulterated fun. Thanks so much!!
07/21/2012 at 23:00
Beautiful and original, your words convey the message in a perfect way.
07/21/2012 at 22:30
Now I’m blushing Francis
…thank you so much ~ means a lot, and hope you are hanging in!!
07/21/2012 at 23:01

So kind of your o say Jeb — thank you for that, and happy for assisting in sweet memories ~ Robyn Lee
07/21/2012 at 23:40
Thank you for this Robyn! Takes me back to swinging as a child…pretending I was flying…the adventure, the innocence, the fun, the imagination…all the amazingly beautiful attributes of childhood!! I just LOVE the way you write and the way you can evoke such varied emotions/feelings with your words…not to mention your gorgeous photographs…you inspire me! Hugs and Blessings sweet friend!! ~
07/22/2012 at 00:41
You are so welcome dear Christina. I too loved to swing (and spin) as a child. Something about the rhythmic motion – just soothing and fun. And yes – to imagine we can fly…wha could be better. So appreciate your kind comments about my writing/photos evoking feelings/emotions. That is such huge compliment — and makes me smile to know…. Be well my friend – and know your plight has inspired me as well ~ Love and Light, Robyn
07/22/2012 at 11:59
You are sweet, Robyn!! If I could bring one smile, one moment of inspiration, one moment of happiness to someone else…well then I am perfectly happy!!
You are so talented and gifted in all the above mentioned areas in my first comment and what I just said about smiles, inspiration, and happiness as well…You bring joy and light to so many people. I just wanted to say today that I appreciate you so much sweetest friend!!
Huge hugs and Blessings for a wonderful evening and tomorrow!!
07/23/2012 at 00:49
Just beautiful! Your words are lovely and powerful. Sometimes my inner child beckons me back to a time of carefree innocence, free of challenges, pain and health issues — it’s a nice respite occasionally to think back to those times.
07/22/2012 at 02:03
Oh Fergi, such a thoughtful comment. I do agree… to be beckon back to the simple times of carefree innocence… a blessing. I have read that visualization and imagery can actually stimulate hormonal changes in the body that can be healing. So yes… an occasional respite is wonderful. So thankful for your thoughts on this

07/22/2012 at 12:08
So appreciate that Paula. Has been very rough lately unfortunately. I am needing to have more studies done to see if my joint has deteriorated a lot over this year. I am so touched by your well-wishes — means a lot

Simply beautiful Robyn! I love seeing this child through your eyes and verse in this one. xoxox
07/22/2012 at 07:58
Yes Jeannie, thank you so much. … And you are so right in that my verse, and image does very much reflect exactly how I saw this sweet little girl. I think this was such a popular post because without realizing it, I injected a lot of my own emotion here, and it became more personal for everyone. I took the shot a while back, wrote up the verse… but was not even sure I’d ever use it. ~ Very wonderful to see it was so appreciated. Much Love and Blessings ~Robyn
07/22/2012 at 12:10
I am sorry to hear that… I know I am a perfect stranger, but I want you to know that my good thoughts and prayers are with you. Thinking of you… Blessings!

As always the photo’s you present for viewing (along with the beautiful compositions that accompany) are moving and reminds each of us of some wonderful memories. Mine is unique to myself. As my parents aged I became much closer to them. My mom was very tiny in stature 4’10″. She loved the outdoors, a lot. One of my most cherished memories was during the last few years of her life of her swinging from a swing attached to a beautiful old tree on my parents property. I had dropped by for a visit and couldn’t find her at the house so wandered around outside until I came upon this sight. She was swinging for all she was worth, a huge smile on her face. A wonderful moment in my memories, thanks for reminding me.
07/23/2012 at 13:44
Oh Penny that story warmed my heart. I can relate to your Mom too…not only am I ‘petite’ at maybe 5 feet tall… but I do still love to swing. I have a swing in my yard that I go to sometimes (though have not lately -but now with your reminder will soon) to meditate and breathe. At one time I thought it would heal me ~ It is attached to a maple tree too. Thank you for sharing this treasured memory with me. Truly precious to know this ~ Much Love to you friend ~Robyn

Thank you Celeste! She was quite a little free spirit. I do not know her but her grandpa was pushing her in their front yard and invited me to do the photograph. I’m so glad you enjoyed the poem her imiage inspired me to pen… means a lot ~
Much love dear friend ~ xxoo
07/24/2012 at 21:33
This is beautiful! And the picture is perfect. I wondered whether the poem inspired the photo or if the photo inspired the poem until I read your reply to Celeste. Love this!
07/26/2012 at 16:38
Thank you so much!! Oh so glad you did see the way the poem unfolded. Still wonder if I should drop an 8×10 and the poem off at the home of this family

I loved sitting on my swing as a child…one of my favorite places to be. Great image. Thanks again for you wonderful eye! Erin
08/10/2012 at 22:33
Yes me too Erin! Such joy associated with that memory. I actually still have my own swing hanging on a Red Maple tree in my yard! I haven’t been on it as of late, but it is a reminder to me of that “weeeee” feeling
Much Love to you – thank you for coming by tonight !!
